XJWBill,
As usual your insight and wording is unequivocal.
looking back over many years of prayers, i cannot pinpoint any time when i felt, unequivocally, that i had received a personal response to my prayers.
can anyone here relate any experiences where you have felt that god answered prayers for you?

outnfree,
I enjoyed your reading post. The book by Barbara Grizzzuti Harrison you mentioned is "Vision Of Glory" by Simon and Shuster (1978) now out of print. She has another great book out called "What Could Be More Tempting Than An Exclusive Club Run By God Himself." You can do a search on Yahoo, just type in her name and there are over 300 entries for her works. My mother read Visions of Glory and left the WT shortly afterwards. This was around 1981.
i'm probably going to a grad party for a jw kid.
dad is an elder, mom a pioneer.
i'd like to think of some gift that would actually help the guy, and still not clue in his parents that i work for satan.
When I had left the WT in 1989 a good friend of mine gave me a book called People of the Lie. I believe the author was M. Scott Peck, not sure though. It was a real eye opener. The book deals with real life situations and reveals different ways we can believe in and excuse evil within ourselves and others. It does not mention religion at all. But by reading the book, one cannot help to think about how we as individuals can believe a lie and not realize it.
I am not sure if this book is in print anymore. I gave it to a friend who gave it to a friend etc. I am not sure where it ended up. It would be a great gift. Maybe the parents will read it also.
as many may know, i'm still a teenager.
i'm not willing to reveal my age, which is one less than 17 or one more than 15. but i just wanted to get your guys' opinion on sex before marriage.
a lot of people here have kinda lost their "watchtower" and biblical standards as i have gathered.
Good advice TR.

Slayer,
I know this will tee off the Bible Students on the Present no Truth Forum. I came from that site and they are lurking in the midst. I bet they are chomping at the bit right now.
joey's teacher sent a note home to his mother saying, "joey seems to be a very bright boy, but spends too much of his time thinking about sex and girls.".
the mother wrote back the next day, "if you find a solution, please advise.
i have the same problem with his father.
ROTFLOL
I have'nt read this thread in a while.
let's have some fun.did you find out some juicy gossip about a witness that you are just dying to blab?.
here's one from me.. i went to a hairdressing salon for the first time and the stylist was a camp male who never stopped chatting from the second he got his gesticulating paws on my scruffy mop.. my mum who is a devout jw was sitting reading a mag waiting for me.. next thing he's telling us about his gay male friend who is a bit down because he is having an affair with a jw.
to make things worse he is married with kids (the brother not the gay friend).. stifling my shock and trying not to look at my mum who is staring wildly and unseeingly at her mag i asked his name or address and although he didn't know the name he told us his street and district!.
Free,
This is the first I saw your post. I have several tales of gossip about many JWs including elders and their wives as well as their kids. Right now it is 2:12 in the morning and I have to get to bed and back up in 4 hours. If I can find the time I will post a few this week.
Thanks for your juicy gossip.
three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses by greg stafford.
to be released september 2001, 160 pages paperback.
cost is $12.95.
Stephanus,
I heard that Stafford actually works for the WT. I do not have anything to confirm this with and I am waiting to get the info. The person that told me this was a JW for over 50 years and has some ties with some at the WT headquarters. I would wait to see before spreading it around as fact. Stafford and Penton go at it once in a while on Channel-C. The forum is basically dead because the administrator basically wants those claiming to be of a christian background. You have to pass his screen test. What I have read of Staffords works are nothing more than watered down arguments and reinterpreting WT dogma to try to confuse issues and facts. He makes some good points but that is about it. To try to defend an organization like the WT shows his character.

They are also making some damn good money for their books. Check out the prices.
Several months ago one of the books were haulted in publication. It was supposed to do with defending the NWT. I think it was Furuli who was writing the book.
I told you it was lost!
