I read this in 1989. Walter Martin has a few skeletons in his closet also.

The Watchtower and the Masons
by ozziepost inthe latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.
* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.
* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

Ozziepost,
Thanks for the info and the site. Even though I believe Russell was not a Mason, I do believe he knew a great deal about them and even resorted to some of their practices or beliefs. After all, he did conduct services in their halls. How could he not learn about the Masons and what they were involved in. I believe Russell may have sucked up to the Masons in order to have access to their facilities before Russell himself was established and the WTBTS came into existence.
I see certain ones asking for proof of Russells involvement, when the proof is shown, they act like it is not there. I guess the WT mindset still has a hold on them.
Charles, I thought all churches were part of Babylon the Great, including the Catholic church. Of course the WTBTS is excluded from this.

Biblical, Christian "Morals"
by Norm inmany people seem to think that moral end ethics would be unknown if it werent for the bible.
the moral of the bible when examined thoroughly is to say the least, extremely relative.
looking at the hebrew scriptures it becomes clear that moral and law was pretty much a tribal and ethnic phenomenon.

MY GOD! And I thought getting through to those still in the borg was tough.
larc,
Norm was the first to bring up Christian Values in his original post.
"In the United States there are movements who are working very hard to bring America back to those Christian values"
I ask you larc, what is a Christian value? Can you help Norm with this? Maybe you both need help!

Norm,
What is a Christian value?
I do not equate values with Christianity or any other religion for that matter.

Norm,
You obviousely don't have a clue. Either you are playing ignorant, or you are.
Tell me now Stormin Normin, what was the intent of your original post?
Go back and read it again in case you forgot.

Larc,
The name is spelled Scorpion, not Scorpian. So far over 30 people on this forum have made the same mistake over the last 6 months.
I agree with you, Christendom does not have a monopoly on good people.
You also said that Christainity has an abysmal record in the domain of ethics, morals and overall goodness. I agree with you on this also.
I also agree with you on what you said about other religions and philosophies.
I am not defending Christianity as a whole if that is what you thought.

as you scroll the page, there are many great and to the point questions that are asked of the reader if and when they become or are perhaps considering becoming a member.. and more on freemasons/ illuminati (for those who have requested more pages on this topic):.

Charles,
You said that Russell understood 'nothing' about Masonry except what urban legend said about it.
Now that's funny. NOTHING??? BWAAAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAA
I agree with you on a few things, especially, Russell demonstrated to be a fool.

Norm,
Your arguments were dealt with and shown to be lacking in clarity until you clarified yourself on the bottom of your last post to logical and myself.
Are you sure that (all) the talk about Biblical or Christain "values" and morals isn't worth anything? It is just talk as you put it.
I wonder how many who claim to be Christian today, once led a life of screwing people over including their mate and now are trying to be a moral responsible adult because of the Christian values they now hold?
