JA,
I understand you being hard pressed to come up with any more Scriptures to prove your claim.
the best evidence that the bible teaches that the earth is flat is found in the following passages.
the first is in matthew: .
"[t]he devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them".

the bible says that a prophet who predicts something that does not occur is speaking words that the lord did not speak, but that is exactly what jesus did, if you can believe the author of mark.
here are the relevant verses:.
"when a prophet speaks in the name of the lord, if the word does not come about or come true, that is a word which the lord did not speak;" (deuteronomy 18:22).
JA,
I am not basing my faith in a Bible that is written now or in the past. My faith is in God, not a book.
Where does your faith lie?

JA,
Are you sure Mark actually wrote these things and Christ actually said them?
Are these words written in the Bible's today actually written in the original manuscripts or have they been added?
If you have The New Jerusalem Bible, check the reference on the bottom of the page of Mark 16. You may be a bit surprised that verses 9-20 may have been added to Marks original intent. Yes, I agree with you that the Bible's we have are in error, but I also believe that God did breath inerrant word that was penned, and through the ages tampered with.

JA,
The Bible contains errors, this is a fact. 2 Timothy 3:16 says: "All Scripture is God breathed and usefull for teaching."
Are we to assume that what we have today as reference to the Scriptures are translated accurately from the original manuscripts?
If what we have today is in error as far as the Bible, how do we know that the original manuscripts are also in error. 2 Timothy 3:16 may still hold true if the originals were without error. How do we know for sure?
I am still waiting for more references from you as far as proof that the Bible teaches the earth is flat. The Scripture in Matthew you qouted is far from sufficient evidence.
one question.
have any of you who have written to the borganization, about the un/wtbts relationship, heard any replys?
i know many of you have.. i'm not looking for details, though you can include them as you see fit.. a yes or no will do for now.. thanks so much.. .
I was considering writing a letter but I figured it would be a waist of time as with the many other letters I have sent to the borg over the years.
it seems to me this site is full of anti jehovah's witness members.its easy to point out weaknesses of others or the organization they represent.jehovah's witnesses do often with other religions.if you all have decided that jehovah's witnesses are bad people or that the organization is false, then which one is the true religion?which religion teaches the correct doctrines?which religion represents gods truth?this question is for anyone.i'm asking this question with sincerity.
deadlyskilz,
You asked: If some of you believe there is no true religion then why are you soley picking apart this religion and not others?
My reply: This forum is intended for discussion about Jehovah's Witnesses. Mainly topics about the WT and JWs are discussed. You obviousely have not been on this forum for long so you have not seen the many topics about other religions that have came up over the course of this forums opening. We do at times talk about other religions here.
As far as the WT and some of their teachings holding some ground in society, could you please be specific as to which teachings?
they all have the american flag, crosses, and symbols.
if i go to the kingdom hall i will just get shunned and i do need association.
my husband won't let me take my son to a church.
Serena,
Before getting involved and commited to a church or Bible group, it would be wise to do some research on the organization. There is plenty of information on the net and informed people on this forum that can help.
Where did it get it's start?
Do they claim revelation that other churches do not?
Are you free to question and disagree with the Pastor and the elders?
Does the church have its own books written and developed that contain doctrines and teachings of its founders and leaders that are not scriptural or just plain false?
Does the church or organization contribute to causes you would in good conscience not contribute to?
There are many things one should check into before supporting any group or church. I know some that go to churches mainly for the fellowship, not that they agree with all that is taught. Personally I think that anyone who agree's with all that is taught in any church is lacking thinking abilities that make one objective.
Hope your husband lightens up!

Welcome deadlyskilz,
I do not think all Jehovahs's Witnesses are bad people. Most I believe are doing what they think is right and try their best to do what they believe is good.
As far as your question, what religion teaches the correct doctrines, I would ask you why you are so concerned with following or accepting doctrines taught by men? What doctrine or doctrines did Christ teach? What was it that Christ said that fullfilled the law? Is there anything else needed?
Your next question, what religion represents God's truth? There is no religion that represents God's truth, only individuals can do their best to accomplish this. Religion seems to represent itself in most cases.

The WT is in violation of most of it's own rules.

JA,
Thanks for your non-reply and lack of evidence to back up your own personal opinion. You have presented a few scriptures in the Bible and you believe the Bible teaches the world is flat. LOL
Also, where did I say I did not accept your opinion or argument? I asked for more details or scriptures to prove your claim. If you actually had some credible information on this, I might be convinced, until then, I see your personal opinion and no actual proof.
anybody ever see this guy on tv?
was he ever a jw?
i've heard that he was, but that might just be rumor.. dan
I take what Van Impe says as about as seriously as what the WT says.
