Terry I think you are awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this experience and wish my mind worked as sharply as yours.

Return of the Dub (plus surprise guest)
by TerryWalstrom inreturn of the dub (plus surprise guest)dealing with just one frisky, bright-eyed jehovah’s witness is a handful.one on one is manageable.
two jw’s is more like juggling chainsaws or french kissing alligators.i had a return visit the other day and now, the jw was returning the 2nd time, but with another dub.what would my strategy be?
that’s how the day was spent.

This is why we used to prefer going to conventions we were not assigned to. It's much easier to listen to talks and experiences of people you don't actually know.
We had in our congregation a pioneer couple. Always crying poverty and somehow managing to get money etc from the brothers. One couple gifted them a car but they then pumped the generous couple for the money to pay the insurance. Then they managed to get a single pioneer sister to buy them new tyres for the car.
Eventually their money pumping ways became an issue and elders got involved. They moved congregations. 5 congregations later and numerous victims.
They used these two as an example in simplifing your life at a convention where he told us all that he could have been a millionaire but walked away for Jehovah and took up pioneering.

Does anyone under the age of 25 know what KFC stands for? (What about WT or JW?)
by stuckinarut2 inas we have seen, the society has so smoothly rolled out the rebranding of the organization in just a few short years!.
(in fact, i remember a thread post here a few years back, where it was mentioned that all halls are going to get the jw.org signs on them.
it was initially laughed off and doubted) https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/279409/jw-org-signs-put-on-all-kingdom-halls-new-directive.

Moster - I am glad I am not alone. I am a long time past 25 and I have no clue what KFC stands for, other than Kentucky Fried Chicken. One of my favorite things.
Can someone please enlighten me?

How many "leave the truth" because of the behaviour of harsh elders?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering how many are assisted to wake up after experiencing harsh treatment from "the loving shepherds of the congregation"?.
perhaps some were starting to wake up, and such behaviour or treatment gave them the push to leave?.
as jesus supposedly said "come to me all who are toiling and loaded down, and i will refresh you.

My husband didn't get reappointed after we were married because my field service record was not up to standard. 2 years later one of the elders who made that decision asked me what my name was before a meeting. Hmm.
I stopped attending meetings when I fell into depression. No one cared for a long time. Eventually a couple of elders came to see why I wasn't coming. Assuming I was upset with someone. When I told them I was suffering depression one of them told me he didn't think I was depressed because I was still able to go to work and depressed people can't leave the house.
I have not returned.

Do you know anything about Live Kingdom Hall?
by Hecce ini learned recently about this link that allows for a person to listen or watch the meetings at the kh that have contracted the service.
you have the option to watch the meeting live or just listen.
there will be a recording of the audio available until the next meeting.. i don't think that this is an official wt arrangement, it might be a private enterprise like the preaching materials .

That is interesting since when you stop attending meetings you get lectured on not forsaking the gathering together to incite to love and fine works blah blah blah.

Well as one of my family happily said to me one day "they are either with us or they are against us". That is their stand.
The shunning of a disfellowshipped person is supposed to make them see the error of their ways and make them return to Jehovah. Cutting them off and making them miss family and friends. In this day and age if your family and friends cut you off, there are many other places you can find friends and so it is my opinion that the function of disfellowshipping does not work. It has the opposite effect and pushes the shunned one further away and into relationships and friendships with others.

You see it as back stabbing but remember that JWs actually believe that your life and theirs depends on obedience to JW.Org. Try to see it as true concern for your welfare and it will be easier to move on from.

What could Jw church do to enhance their shunning regime?
by Chook inif they controlled a nation they would stone their kids to death , which seems harsh but its nothing compared to the solitary confinement they emotionally and physically bestow on their own children.
i think they have ticked every box as to the rejection of their children except killing them, they leave that for god ..

The thing about that is, people are allowing themselves to be controlled. They read the scripture that supports shunning in Corinthians and there are only 6 things mentioned in there but there are over 100 disfellowshipping offences in the JW religion. When someone is announced as no longer a JW, no one gets to find out why? You are not allowed to get the facts from the person.
One of my friends got disfellowshipped for nothing but the "sheeple" will make up stories and gossip because no one gets disfellowshipped for nothing. Jehovah wouldn't allow that.
How many faders are being shunned by their family just for not warming a seat at the kingdom hall?? No disfellowshipping offence committed and no disassociation letter written yet the family "protect their own spirituality" by avoiding these ones.
The mind control is complete but they still profess to have free will.

"Prayer" and answers to it , positive / negative ,or is it all in the mind ?
by smiddy3 inspeaking from my own experience and that of my family of wife and two now adult sons do not believe that prayers to jehovah /god are answered .. so it must also be true of all other religions and their believers also.. my wife and i were jw`s for 33 years and and i don`t believe anyone prayed harder than my wife and i at various trials we faced during those times in those 33 years.. we may as well have been like the present day jews who pray to a brick wall .

There was a time I would have said he certainly does. I strongly believed that meeting my husband was an answer to a prayer. Granted it was a prayer I had been asking for 10+ years before it was answered.
There are those that say he will only answer your prayers if it is in line with his will but the same ones will tell you to ask God to help you like healthy food if you want to lose weight so I just don't know anymore.
