Research, research, research. Everything and not just the Watchtower. Make sure you keep your eyes open and use logic. God may exist but he also wants you to worship in "spirit and Truth". Make 100% sure what you are learning is indeed truth or it will be for nothing.

Out of the world, into the Truth
by apalro infor some background - i studied on & off as a child with a jehovah's witness who has been patiently working on lots of our family for more than a decade and never gave up on any of us.
as a middle-schooler and a highschooler, my love for jehovah and any association with my childhoood bible teacher... faded.

PERSECUTION (and I tell you why I named this topic title)
by HiddlesWife ini've noticed that even though i'm inactive, i'm getting treated very badly by a number people inside the borg and outside of it.
(1) from inside: various brothers and sisters from the cong i'm associated with/occasionally attend are being influenced--especially by pioneers, a couple of mss and their family members--to shun me, my siblings and my cousins.
three (3) of my close friends in the cong (two who are developing doubts) are really beginning to feel "the heat" from these "popular/privilege of service" ones.

It's hard. Continue to be friendly to everyone and remember that you are no longer living a lie. Everyone's opinion does not matter more than your own opinion of yourself. I'm told it gets easier. Hang in there.

Parents who try to make you feel guilty.
by NJ501 inwhen parents say all the things we've done for you and your not doing anything for us in return like going to meetings, witnessing, answering up etc... how do you respond to parents?.

This one is tough. Does not the bible say that we each render our own account? Do nothing under compulsion?
Witnessing, meeting attendance etc is your relationship with Jehovah and has nothing to do with what your parents have done for you or something you do for them.
They are told to bring their children up in the mental regulations of Jehovah and then we are told to make the truth our own.

marriage"equality" survey, Australia.
by zeb inthe australian govt has set out a survey to see if people are in favour of changing the marriage act to include same sex couples.. hm here have received their papers?
the survey promises to be anonymous but has a substantial bar code at the bottom... anonymous yeah right.. the marriage act once said "two people" then a previous prime minister changed it to say "man and woman" all that is needed to amend this situation as required by the gay community is change it back again to "two people" there, done and dusted.. and millions of dollars need not be wasted on this survey which is not compulsory as is voting in australia.
can anyone here who still goes to kh tell us if this has had a ruling from the platform?.

I agree that the issue distracts the masses from what is happening around them. I know some JW just threw them in the bin.

There are many homeschooling in my city. I think the increase is due to Autism or ADHD and various other disabilities. The schools here are not equipped to teach these children and they fall behind or get very anxious. Being disciplined for thinking differently to everyone else makes school a challenge for these children.

We had a 9 year old here a few months ago. I have heard of a 7 year old.
My 10 year old told his grandma that he is never getting baptized because if he ever does anything wrong he won't be able to talk to his family anymore. She was shocked and unhappy.

You get DF for being against the FDS if you do not believe in God you are not seen as someone who will be able to lead the believers astray. You are no threat.

An honest question for those who were "born-in"
by stuckinarut2 injust wanted to ask a question of those who were born in as i was.. how did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - the truth"?.
did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?.
how did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the truth"?.

How did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - The Truth"?
I was not born in but my mother chose the religion when I was 3. We moved countries and my mother began studying again when some knocked on our door. From then on these were our only friends. Our house was always full of people. My mother, a beautician, had many many "friends" who needed to be beautified regularly for the meetings etc. and of course they all wanted mates rates.
Did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?
I never gave any thought to being in the one true faith. I didnt know any different and life was what it was. I believed the things my mother believed because adults know more than kids right? I didnt have any friends in the truth and was always overlooked for social gatherings and friendships. I was socially awkward. Could this have been because we were foreigners? I dont know.
How did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the Truth"?
I never believed that if god loved everyone so much that this would be true and if I ever brought it up with my mother she would say that Jehovah reads hearts and he will do the just thing.
As a child, did you ever question these things?
Admittedly I never questioned anything. I suffered through life as an outcast both in the congregation and outside the congregation. I hated witnessing and it would give me anxiety attacks but we went because we had to. I hated the meetings because people would go out of their way to ignore me or very obviously talk about me. In my late teens, early twenties I found a friend who was also gossiped about in the congregations. She was an uber spiritual person and this caused her problems. She is now no longer in "the truth" and wants nothing more to do with religion.
I plodded along going with the motions until very recently. Then I started thinking "Jehovah chose my mum, not me." Now I have the questions.
I am just glad that the questions are coming now while my children are young. In our congregation, a few years ago, a young boy of 7 or 8 decided to start a study with my son who is the same age. He decided that every Sunday after the meeting he would study the bible with my son. No offer of friendship, invites to come over and play, just a bible study so that he can count time and become an unbaptized publisher. I think that was the beginning of the end for me. I wasn't going to allow my children to live the life that I have lived.

Marriage is not a disfellowshiping offence but I think maybe the contact with disfellowshiped ones is. If I have it correct that was why Ray Franz ended up being disfellowshiped.
