So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today

we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.

he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.

he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

"You made a promise to Jehovah" ??? Oh my goodness how terrible for your brother. My son is high functioning autistic. He does not believe God exists. He held off telling my mother because he feared she wouldn't love him anymore. It's so messed up.

Your brother needs you. If you have the strength and capacity you must be his advocate and help him to freedom from the mind control. Make his medical team understand that not only is his mind wired differently which is hard enough in a neurotypical world but that he is trapped in a world/religion that will not recognize those differences and compound his problems and mental health.

I don't know your family but my heart breaks for him as I read your post.

A very interesting conversation with my father today.

this is how the conversation went.

decide for your selves.. dad : joe if ever i need an operation i've told them i don't want blood.

not a drop.. joe : well what about blood fractions.

The R&F do know they can have fractions if they want. They also know that it is up to them to decide. Many will not do so because blood is blood. Many will do anything they can get away with. My mum asked us if we would honour her wishes to not take blood if it came down to it.

We all have our medical directives completed so legally she is guaranteed we will not be able to override her choices.

I think it's a good idea to have one of those for everyone.

They always manage to use scenarios that would not happen. My son didn't want to go to meetings anymore not because they were boring, which they are and have always been, but because he knew deep down it was all BS and scripture was being manipulated to say and mean what they wanted it to mean.

Do you (or did you) have much of a social life as a Jehovahs Witness.

i ask this question out of interest, because as a jehovahs witness for some 26 years, i have always felt that there is an 'all work, no play' culture within the organisation.

the organisation doesn't promote social gatherings.

i could count on one hand each year how many get togethers we have had.

Magnum I felt the same way growing up. Although as a young person I did not get included and invited, when I did, I hated going. My husband and I were saying just last night that we don't miss anyone. They were never true friends. A family member posted a photo from an assembly with a diverse group of sisters and the caption read "love unconditionally". It's not unconditional as we all know.

I used to always say "it's not a club. I am not in it for the people. I am in it for Jehovah." Lol. Now I think why do I want to live forever with these people?

Slowly killing them…

so yesterday a family friend who was never age overs witness give me a phone call.

he says that he is quite upset with me and wants to give me a chance to explain why i'm treating my father so portly.

mind you i have not seen my father or mother in about 3 years and they refused to talk to me except for the occaisional crazy letter that my mother will send.. anyway my the family friend stated that he spoke to my mother and brother and they both told him that because i choose to leave the religion and in turn separate myself from the family it has caused my 80 something year old father a tremendous amount of stress and she is becoming sick and they're not sure how much longer he will be with us.. shoot felipe nothing they say really bothers me much anymore but the fact that i'm being accused of slowly killing my father because i've decided to make a decision that's better from my own family is actually quite frustrating to me.. give you hours after having of the conversation with our family friend i get a call from my older brother who then begins to be raped me and tells me that i should accept responsibility for the fact that i am the cause of our ejean father's poor health and that leaving jehovah causes problems not only for me but for those who love me.

It's certainly a hard situation. We are in similar circumstances. Parents are depressed and in pain because of our choice.

They forget that by choosing this cult many years ago, they themselves inflicted similar pain and anguish on their own extended family.

Keep your head up.

Which Things Did Your Overzealous Parents Ban?

we all know the gb like to impose rules upon the rules... but did anyone else out there have parents that implemented rules upon those rules?

mine did.

my mum tended to copy whatever the elders wives were doing and took it to the extreme.

It is interesting that we have many of these extra rules in common. We were not to watch or read anything with witches or wizards in it. I read the Lord of the Rings and felt like such a rebel. Hahaha

I remember once we had the CO for lunch and my brother put on Cliff Richard's song "Devil Woman" my mum went a very nice shade of red.

My mother freaked out when I went and had my ears pierced a second time in my twenties. She was so unhappy about it that she spoke to the COs wife about it and the COs wife told her there was nothing wrong with it. Only then did she stop stressing about it.

Any movies to do with Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens - anything that God has not created or is not of this world is demonic.

No cartoons because they are too violent.

If she caught you reading a novel you were told "if you have time to read, you should read the watchtower or do the vacuuming."

Now we have in laws telling my kids that Batman is demonic.

Certainly never read or watch anything with ghosts in it, including Caspar. No bewitched although somehow I did see some of the episodes.

No play dates after school with friends, but it was okay if they came to us.

No after school sports.

No coloured nail polish or leg shaving and no makeup.

I could go on.

I feel like in the 70s and 80s we had more social interaction in the congregation. It could, however, have been that my mother had a useful trade whereby everyone could come to her and save money on beauty services. There were always people at our house and we got invited a lot. Come my teenage years and mum taking a job, the pool of friends dried up. Then on my late 30s I had a sister share with me that I didn't get invited to gatherings because I am not the right sort - ie two faced, superficial and snobby

New job blues

finally just got a really good job, i'm learning a trade and i love it.. its been a long time coming without any help from my family.

i'm in my late 20s finally about to be able to provide for myself.

it feels great but i still feel in missing something.

At least one of your hobbies can be taken outside where you could meet people. Exercise - you could join a gym or a basketball team or soccer team or something like that.

In our area even your other two hobbies can be taken out to meet similar interested ones. They have drawing "lessons" and the local comic book stores have video game buses outside where you can go and play along side others.

As for authority - if you are a law abiding citizen then you obviously have no problem with authority. Not allowing people to tell you how to think and what to do without any good reason is not a problem with authority. It is self respect.
