january 29th - my baptism date.
can you remember how you felt at your baptism?.
i got baptised because my dad kept frightening me.
I was 13. Got dunked with my brother. The only excitement of the day was the new bathing suit for the occasion, the new dress and my parents gave me a pet Budgie as a gift on the day.
The brothers filmed the baptism because we were taken by bus off site so they replayed the baptism on screens during the lunch break.
my wife and i just enjoyed a family reunion with both my sons ,one wife and one grandchild 10 years old ,where they stayed at our house for a week .. the best week we have had for many a year .
the couple live only 2 hours away by car and the other son and his child live 2 states away 2 hours by plane.. and thankfully they are no longer associated with the borg that i now regretfully brought them up in , so the borg will never get their children.. it was a happyfying time .

These things happen because cult members trust other cult members, Jehovah draws ones to the "truth" so you can trust them right? It is also the reason that paedophiles are trusted by other cult members.
when i first seen this website i actually thought it was a jw website hence the home page and not an ex jw website and i posted a topic thinking people were real witnesses then i quickly discovered it was not and all these people were commenting and embarrassing me and i couldn’t even delete the thread.
then i asked the admin to delete it and i said it was very misleading saying it’s a jw page and he’s like are you serious i deleted your topic and now you are attacking me and it clearly says ex jw page.
he was very rude and btw no where does it say ex jw and you should be able to delete your own threads you start.
So if the "secret dating" post is the one you are referring to, I am pretty sure the reaction you would get on a JW site would be way more embarrassing than any comments on here.
Secret dating is a definite no no in JW land and if you are dating a "worldly" person as you say then you are not a JW and you have found the correct forum for you.
whatever we think of it, you have to admit that it's quite "genius".. the door to door ministry as done in western developed countries where the jw quirky religion has probably reached their saturation level was a complete and utter waste of time in terms of the effort expended to recruit people.. at the same time, it was rarely something that anyone enjoyed which led to people being labelled as inactive, being pressured to doing more and maybe ultimately deciding jwism wasn't for them and leaving.. there was also the issue that many jws are actually pretty bad at knowing and articulating their beliefs so were pretty incapable of getting any meaningful message across.. they solved all this with the cart witnessing.
the real point isn't to recruit, it's to make life easier for jws.
now they can stand and chat with their friend, have a coffee, not talk to anyone or make eye contact and still act as a walking billboard for jw.org.

If the end is nigh why are they not printing magazines with the warning on the front for their carts? Why are the magazines on the carts still about fluffy subjects such as Can you trust the news media or how to make your family life happy.
i just wonder how the elders see the cart witnessing they always want to show co when he comes to visit how congregation covers the territory.
but there must be a great problem with that now as pioneers prefer sitting drinking coffee beside a cart.

in my waking up i have come to a very emotional and costly conclusion.
i have been waking up for about 2 years.
the greatest gift we ( i ) can give our children is honesty and ttatt.

it was only about two months ago she was diagnosed with lung cancer and she was a non smoker .. she was never a jw and she never held it against me that i was for 33 years.. we had a good relationship even though we lived in different states about 2000 miles apart,.. tears are rolling down my cheeks as i type this .

i sneakily read his books at work.
it was written in such a way that no one could accuse him of being another bitter old apostate.. once it registered in my brain, especially after reading the second book, i knew i had to get out!.
I didn't read the book until I had already stopped going to the meetings. It certainly was a "wizard of Oz" type of awakening for me. It removed any niggling doubt about my decision never to return.
today is my 34th birthday.
or, my 3rd birthday that i've actually acknowledged seeing as i was raised in the cult.. i woke up this morning to my 4yo running into my room and wishing me a "happy birthday daddy!".
i got a card from my ex-jw brother and i bought myself a birthday gift - a new 50mm lens for my nikon camera (photography is a hobby i took up since leaving the cult).. i dont know about you guys, but birthdays is still something i have to make a conscious effort to acknowledge and enjoy.
