You see it as back stabbing but remember that JWs actually believe that your life and theirs depends on obedience to JW.Org. Try to see it as true concern for your welfare and it will be easier to move on from.

What could Jw church do to enhance their shunning regime?
by Chook inif they controlled a nation they would stone their kids to death , which seems harsh but its nothing compared to the solitary confinement they emotionally and physically bestow on their own children.
i think they have ticked every box as to the rejection of their children except killing them, they leave that for god ..

The thing about that is, people are allowing themselves to be controlled. They read the scripture that supports shunning in Corinthians and there are only 6 things mentioned in there but there are over 100 disfellowshipping offences in the JW religion. When someone is announced as no longer a JW, no one gets to find out why? You are not allowed to get the facts from the person.
One of my friends got disfellowshipped for nothing but the "sheeple" will make up stories and gossip because no one gets disfellowshipped for nothing. Jehovah wouldn't allow that.
How many faders are being shunned by their family just for not warming a seat at the kingdom hall?? No disfellowshipping offence committed and no disassociation letter written yet the family "protect their own spirituality" by avoiding these ones.
The mind control is complete but they still profess to have free will.

"Prayer" and answers to it , positive / negative ,or is it all in the mind ?
by smiddy3 inspeaking from my own experience and that of my family of wife and two now adult sons do not believe that prayers to jehovah /god are answered .. so it must also be true of all other religions and their believers also.. my wife and i were jw`s for 33 years and and i don`t believe anyone prayed harder than my wife and i at various trials we faced during those times in those 33 years.. we may as well have been like the present day jews who pray to a brick wall .

There was a time I would have said he certainly does. I strongly believed that meeting my husband was an answer to a prayer. Granted it was a prayer I had been asking for 10+ years before it was answered.
There are those that say he will only answer your prayers if it is in line with his will but the same ones will tell you to ask God to help you like healthy food if you want to lose weight so I just don't know anymore.

Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"
by stuckinarut2 init struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".
of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.
most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

My mum always said if you have no problems then satan is leaving you alone which means that you must not be doing things Jehovah's way.
They also say that if you pull away from Jehovah, he will take his spirit away from you and you will have trouble.
So which is it? Is it Satan giving me trouble because I am with Jehovah or is it Jehovah giving me trouble because I am not?

I have a few memorable ones.
Working with my friend - both teenagers at the time - knocked on the door in the middle of the day. Takes a while for the householder to come to the door. A man comes to the door wearing nothing but a towel. My friend begins her presentation and the man lets go of his towel. My friend turns a very bright shade of red and we leave laughing.
Working with my dad one day we knock and out comes a very angry woman "get off my property before I get my gun. I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire!" she yells. My dad smiles at her and says "okay, have a nice day."
I also had a "magazine route" when I was young. We were encouraged to offer subscriptions so I offered her one on my next visit. She says to me "oh no love, I was only taking the magazines because I think you are cute."

I remember them being very proud of the fact that we did not have collection plates passed at the meetings. This separated us from Christendom.
So now the watchtower comes with its own collection plates as a link to donate.
Waton - that scripture in Matthew also does not match what the watchtower said a few weeks ago when discouraging brothers from helping refugees with material things.
Again I am left wondering why the "sheep" can't see these things. Sigh.

custody orders, proving to the court why my daughters should be baptized at 18. JW OR NOT
by Gokumonkey inhello everyone ive been posting about this situation about my daughters and their jw mom so if u want to get a back story about whats going on you can check out my previous posts.. note- daughters are only 5 months old, and i live in the united states.. right now im typing up my court orders to present to the court but ive come to a road block.
i want to add reasons to why its not a good idea to have my daughters be baptized at a young age.. here is my rough draft -.
"age appropriate baptism – i wish that my daughters to be baptized at the legal age of 18 years old.

At the Australian Royal Commission, Terrence O'Brien appearing for the JWs stated under oath that people are "baptised when they are of an age to qualify for baptism, so someone who is approaching adulthood or an adult.". See the transcript of day 259 Page 26539. He goes on to say that these ones would understand the implications of choosing to disassociate from the JWs, knowing the consequence to be shunning.
Of course this was argued in regards to those victims of abuse choosing to leave. But would a minor understand the implications of making a life choice to become a witness and that if ever they change their mind their own mother would never speak to them again?
But it is important to note that in order to qualify for baptism they say you must be of an age - nearly adult or adult.
I was baptised at 13. I never ever imagined I would find myself in the situation I am in now of having to hide my true thoughts and beliefs from family and friends so that they will still talk to me.

Today's Text - Justifying The Increase Of Annointed Ones!
by Divergent inthursday, august 31. jehovah knows those who belong to him.—2 tim.
2:19.. in recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of those partaking at the memorial of christ’s death.
that trend contrasts with the decrease in the number of partakers that we saw for many decades.
