So true about worldly ones being treated like human beings but if you decide you don't believe the GB anymore, you are dead in their eyes and treated as such. Do they honestly think that Jesus would treat people like that?

Bringing reproach on Jehovah's name.
by ScottyRex ini have thought long and hard about this, you know in those midnight hours.. you will probably string me alive in what i say, but here you go-.
i feel that the jw's do have the truth.
i do agree with the doctrines and biblical exgenesis they propound.i do feel that they have the 'truth' i do understand they are imperfect, and i think they have had to 'refine' their teachings as time has gone on-and change accordingly- i see nothing wrong with this.

You may well have thought long about it but what research have done?
One of the reasons I no longer believe them is the fact that they say they are the faithful and discreet slave and were chosen in 1919. How?
Now read what the chosen ones put out as truth back then in the finished mystery book and compare it to what they say is truth now.
God detests lies. Why would he approve a group who do not have any information right? If God inspired or directed them surely he could have given them the correct information from the beginning.
There are so many more indicators of them not having the truth and their handling of the child abuse cases cannot be defended.

Happy Thanksgiving 2017
by EverApostate inonce upon a time, as a jw, i was afraid to buy turkey during thanksgiving time.
while attending the thursday night ministry school meeting (on thanksgiving day), i was cautious not to mention the word thanksgiving, for fear of bringing reproach to bigj.. now, free at last, my happy thanksgiving wishes to everyone who celebrate this holiday..

We had an elder give a talk one time and he actually said "if you eat turkey ay Christmas time ho do you think you are kidding?"
I used to get nervous buying it too but if you like it, Christmas is the only time you can get it.
Same thing with Easter eggs and hot cross buns. So silly to get so anxious about food.

Why isn't Lazarus my next-door neighbor?
by return of parakeet inafter looking through doug mason's "ransom" thread, i noticed a little discrepancy between dub doctrine and the bible; i.e.
lazarus.. if the wages of sin is death, lazarus paid the wages in full by dying, and when resurrected by jesus, he should then have been a "perfect" man.
after all, he paid his wages for his imperfection -- he died.

They was mentioned on a previous post. Jesus had not paid the ransom yet so everlasting life was not yet available or something like that?

"not doing well spiritually"
by Introvert 2 inworking late tonight i just thought this up : whenever we used to hear someone say " so and so is not doing well spiritually™ " or "not doing well in the truth™ " what it really means is they aren't doing well climbing the wtbts's corporate ladder or doing their beck and call following the herd cult thingy.
been brought up before but had to share..feel free to add..

I mentioned to a sister that a mutual friend of ours is very busy. Her response was "busy in the truth?". Only that would be acceptable. Mustn't be busy doing anything else.

Work Christmas functions: Being a Bible Student (unbaptized)
by rulehayl inhi all,i have been studying with the witnesses for more than 6 months and regularly attend both midweek & weekend meetings, and i am nearly at the end of the "bible teach" book.
my boss is adamant i attend team christmas functions.
she knows about my studying and potential baptism next year, and has suggested that i attend and just not participate in activities like kris kringle.

1 John 5:3 says God's commandments are not burdensome.
Matthew 11:30 says the yoke is kindly and the load is light.
If you are finding it overwhelming and difficult while you are still in the love bombing study stage alarm bells should be ringing.

Where to go for the 'Deep Things'?
by cobweb inas someone who has been out a while, i wondered what publications a jw would turn to now if they want to do serious bible research.
are there any meaty jw publications left?
i haven't heard of the insight books being revised.

It's all just fluff and nonsense. The teenagers getting baptised because they have to would have no clue what their religious beliefs are and certainly could not explain it. They know Armageddon is coming and you can't celebrate Xmas and birthdays etc.
Everyone is happy that they do not need to research anymore and happy they can just click and read what the GB has prepared for them never asking if it is actually true.

Convention “Highlights” - bwhahaha!
by Muddy Waters intaking a walk down memory lane at those looooonnnnngg, tedious conventions... .
(boy, they weren’t kidding when they spoke about being long-suffering and having endurance!).
but what were some of your convention highlights, or lowlights, from back in the day?.

I remember a convention in the 80s where I spent the entire 4 days asleep in the first aid department. I had surgery few days before and my mother would never consider missing the convention to take care of me at home.
Other than that our family were always in food service which meant that as a teenager I was never able to make new friends because I was always working. We always had to be there super early and got stuck cleaning up after too.

Fasten Your Seatbelts - The Crazy Has Started (Also, bring the Koolaid)
by berrygerry infrom facebook:just saw my jw mother after not seeing her for more than 2 years.
when i do see her, it is brief, she never asks about my life, doesn't ask about my 4 children her grandchildren, doesn't ask about my grandchildren...her great grandchildren, she doesn't ask about my other 2 brothers that she is also alienated from, she doesn't ask about my brothers family.
she doesn't talk about the jw/org either.

From my mother I hear that they are encouraged to have 3 days of supplies on hand because in the event of a natural disaster it could take that long for assistance to arrive. The rest of your mother's news seems to be a work of fiction. Perhaps to jolt you and your siblings to a speedy return?
