i have 4 computers that are all running windows 10 version 1703.. 1. laptop that came with windows 10 was updated to version 1703 - watchtower library runs fine.
2. laptop that came with windows 8 was updated to windows 10 for free - watchtower library runs fine.
3. laptop that came with windows 7 64 home was updated to windows 10 for free - watchtower library does not run.
To have Watchtower Library ( & Office 2016 ) run without issues on computers 3. & 4. I just do steps A thru D
A - Run msconfig
B - System Configuration – General – Select “Selective startup” ( “Load startup items” is checked )
C - System Configuration – Services – Check “Hide all Microsoft services” – Click on “Disable all” – Click on “OK”
D -. Restart computer – ( In my situation Watchtower Library ( & Office 2016 ) now run without issues )

I finally got the Watchtower Library to run on computers 3. & 4.
A 3rd party program ( I don't know which one yet ) was keeping Watchtower Library from running.
I installed Office 2016 on computer 3. this morning but Excel, Word etc would not run.
Microsoft support suggested doing a "Clean Boot" as they thought 3rd party software was to blame.
The "Clean Boot" resulted in Excel, Word etc running like they are supposed to
Watchtower Library also ran like it is supposed to.
A "Clean Boot" on computer 4. resulted in Watchtower Library running like it is supposed to.
I just need to track down which particular software program to remove from computers 3. & 4.

No - All 4 computers are 64 bit Windows
"did you run the ccleaner Registry cleaner, or just ccleaner?"
I ran both
I also disabled AVG during the install and left it disabled while trying to run WT Library

"Delete WT library. Run a registry cleaner. CCleaner is free. Then clean install the library. WHEN IT ASKS YOU IF YOU WANT TO AUTO UPDATE, SAY NO. If you auto update, it will stop working"
Before doing above I ran sfc/scannow as an administrator - No problems found.
I deleted WT Library and ran CCleaner then clean installed the WT Library.
I reported the issue to Microsoft as a possible bug.

I already had tried the below on computers 3 & 4. None of the earlier versions of Windows worked.
"Windows has a built-in tool called Program Compatibility Troubleshooter that could automatically fix any compatibility problems for you. If the troubleshooter can't fix the problem, you can manually make an app run in compatibility mode, which will run the app using the settings from an earlier version of Windows. You can have the troubleshooter automatically search for apps that could have issues in Windows 10 or manually run the troubleshooter on a specific app"

I'm not a JW (nor am I likely to ever become one).
I just wanted to know if anyone else had a problem running the Watchtower Library on a 64 bit pc running Windows 10 version 1703 that previously had Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium installed.

Note: 01 - Computers 3 & 4 won't run Watchtower Library 2015 or 2016
Note: 02 - Just wanted to know if anyone else that updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 have this issue
