22nd july 1985.. man killed in blast.

at sydney service.. from richard yallop in melbourne.. one man was killed and 70 people were taken to hospital after a bomb exploded yesterday during a jehovah's witnesses service in a kingdom hall in the sydney suburb of lurnea.. the explosion occurred close to the speaker's dais just as mr. david winder, a visiting elder from the sydney suburb of prospect, had begun his address on loyalty to god and the family.

Very short version is he was a very abusive husband, wife left him taking their young child too, and filed for divorce. At some stage she started to associate/study with JW's and they were assisting her.
But alot more to it, they have done a few documentaries in the past few years about it, not sure if they are geoblocked to Australia though.

Sorry for the threadmine, I was going through an old family album on the weekend and there were photos that were taken at the site the day after the bombing. I always remember seeing those photos as a child and hearing the stories from family.
The bomber was jailed back in 2020.

Odds on Stephanie not knowing a single thing about Thailand, hookers, threatening suicide and lawsuits and finally succeeding getting wifey to agree to an open marriage?
Its like the point in time you are a 'newbie', effort is made to detract said newbie from the viewing of 'old light', when it comes to JLE and Watchtower.
I for one was a 'newbie' follower of JLE's youtube in about 2017, had no idea about the prior issues he had with the exjw community, his blatant ignorance of copyright, accusations of various behaviours against him, the list goes on.
Just like when I woke up as a PIMO already at the same time, learning of all the things I didnt know about the organisation, the UN thing, the flip flopping of major policies they now have (elder/gb arrangement, blood, df,) the list goes on and is basically endless.

This thread made me realise alot happened with the John Cedars / James Lloyd Evans situation, before I really started watching his content about 2015ish. Looking through his tweets from 2012 on has been fascinating, seeing various 'beefs' with people via Twitter etc.
Some posts have been quite ironic, if you put it in todays context. lol

Fancy dress parties banned...anyone else?

we had 2 fancy dress parties in our congregation...before the ban.

it was the best fun we ever had together.

problem was some came as pirates with swords!

Only bible based dress ups, but you couldnt be any of the naughty characters, Jesus or Jehovah.
the most recent cong i was in, 15 years back one of the elders wives thought she was the next speilberg and did a drama. Got all the kids and some adults involved, they hired a school hall put on this drama, charged a fee ofcourse to attendees. She roped me into videoing it for them and putting copies of it on dvd, which she no doubt sold to people.

I have caught up on Andrew Golds interviews with JLE and Kim, and the rebuttal this morning.
Still gets me though when he craps on about engaging sex workers (and i feel sorry for them having to ensure that 15second experience) because he didn't want to go outside of relationship with his wife etc, then talks about having a relationship with a sex worker not 10mins later?
