  Prophets? no but history has dealt with this type of thing and worse before. Panics cause people to do stupid things. Selling off stocks the way they have been is not thinking straight. Once can buy puts but you just don't know if its going to keep dropping. You can also sell covered calls but same thing but to buy a call such as XOM at 22.5 strike price, which means for those who are not familliar with options is I can call it in or buy XOM 100 shares at 22.5 dollars a share any time in two years or just under to Jan 22 2022 and for that privilege I pay 17 dollars. I bought PSX call for 14.90 a share and can call it in any time between now and Jan 22 2022 for 35 dollars a share. I bought BUD for 18 call Jan 22 2022 to call in at 25 a share. Duk at 39 a share to call in jan 20 2022 at 45 a share. Using options allows you to leverage your money. I control blocks of 100 shares for a certain time at a certain price. If anyone has the ability jump in now. As Buffett said, when blood is in the water dive in head first, when people are all diving in head first get out. This is a generation thing or bigger. I did this in the 08 crash. I saw homes that sold for 250000 or a quarter of a million in Fla selling for 65k. I sold out in Kansas and moved to Fla bought a home and condo in Sarasota three miles form Siesta key. I rented it out for 6 years and then sold it for double what I paid for it. Same with my home. Doubled my money and my home I am currently in was free and clear on profit.

  The death tolls are not that bad or as bad as predicted. Its repetitively low. Most of the deaths have been at the point of origin. Most of the deaths in the USA have occurred in one nursing home in Washington state. Another silver lining is the stock market. I just wired money into my account Ameritrade and am buying deep in the money calls. This is so low its crazy and people selling right now will kick them-self in the ass in a year. The panic is so over blown its crazy. If the market dumps again its more money again and more deep calls out two years.

  I think you are predicting more infections than there will be at anyone time. Even china is reporting its shutting down some of the hospitals that are dedicated to this virus. I don't think its going to be as bad as all that. I don't see it. Diseases like measles are highly infectious, You can walk into a room and not touch or be near anyone and contract the measles, You can not contract this virus this way. People are getting over excited.

  You are throwing out a lot of shit and lumping it together. The fact is that the Spanish flu killed some where between 50 to 100 million deaths with a population of 2 billion. So 150 million with a population of 8 billion much less than the Spanish flu. The estimate of death rate of the Spanish flu was 3 to 5 percent. Lets take the lower number. 3 percent of 8 billion is 240 million people. 5 percent would be 400 million. So the Spanish flu seems to be at least for now much deadlier than this virus. We also have much better medicine than there was in 1918. about 60 to 65 million die each year of seasonal flu. You can not cherry pick Italy as a place to pull a number because its population are much older than many other nations and will get a higher death rate. This is pure misinformation by pulling numbers that are not across the board. At the death rate we see now is about 1 percent all things known factored in. so that puts the global deaths at 80 million. To act like this is the end of the world is to give into stupid panic. This does not mean go to the store and after touching everything putting your finger in your eye or mouth. Use gloves when doing things around high traffic areas, use hand sanitizer when going out and about and don't go out if you don't have to. Or go to places like trails or bike riding ect where you do not come into contact with people. Don't travel or go on a trip such as a cruise where you are in close contact with a lot of people. The only way to halt the spread of the virus or any thing is to either quarantine people like Italy or find a vaccine and make it mandatory to get inoculated. There will be a vaccine but it can take up to a year to get one out. I bet it will be faster due to the governments pushing for one. Stay away from people sneezing or coughing. This is the way its spread. This is a close contact disease. You can get it by touching a surface that someone has coughed or sneezed on then touching your face more specifically eyes nose or mouth.

  No its not comparable to the Spanish flu. First off there were only 2 billion people on the planet in WW1s end, we now have 8 billion and the numbers will go up just because of that alone. The seasonal flu will kill more people compared to a seasonal flu in 1918 also because of the population difference. This is the kind of disinformation that causes panic.

  The average age of people who die with this is 80yo. So its not really as deadly as people think. Its about 10 times as deadly as the seasonal flu. Which is not really all that deadly.

  I doubt that the death toll will be that high or cause any wars. China attacking Japan would end badly for China. Anything can happen but its highly unlikely. Stocks are already a good buy. Many are below 11PE and are cheap now. Even during the great depression it was only 4 and a half years till the market rebounded. The 25 years was due to the fact that they moved out stocks that made up the dow from the crash to the 25 year mark. If you take the original stocks that made up the dow it was 4.5 years for recovery. This is not 1929 at all. And if you wait till the stocks are free you will never get into the market. In 6 months this will be in the downward swing. As far as the Corona virus it is much different than the Spanish flu. It was more deadly by far and killed not the old and young and sick but the healthy and strong. I was slower to burn out because of how long it took for it to travel around the world about a two years. Now its around the world in a few months and we have much better ways of not only looking for vaccines but in keeping it from spreading. At first when the US Army found out about the Spanish flu they kept it quiet. We have had several pandemics between then and now. This is not walking dead and will not be from this virus. Panic is causing people to do dumb things. In another post I posted about stocking up on food, water and ammo because I know what flys off the shelf in panic. I watched that you could not beg borrow or steal a 22 cartridge for over 5 years after the 2012 sandy hook shooting, or an AR15 or many other rounds. I have seen how toilet paper was hard to find after Johnny Carson made a joke about toilet paper being hard to find and it was hard to find for a few months after the joke. I also lived through a few Hurricanes in Florida and you go from full stores to empty shelves in 2 seconds. But as for this being a real end of the world as we know it. No no way.

Now company's will shut down and have production disruptions due to this. And it looks like its going to be slow but will happen. Now Apple says it may not have any product later this year. How many companies will say screw this and bring back at least some of the production to the home countries? My bet is some at least. If a car does not have one part they don't make that car. This may shock corporations into keeping production here. It could lead to a boom down the road for these nation and halt the BS Chinese making everything.
