If you closely examine religions like the JWS you can see its formulated upon an agreed to and accepted arrangement of lies.
Surprising or not men can build up their own Kingdom upon those self empowering lies by gullible and naive believers.
i hope this is in the right area.

Perhaps you can tell us why some 500 years or more latter on of what happened to ancient Jerusalem, when Jesus himself said no one knows of the time not even he ???

A careful and not sloppy reading of that verse proves that the judgement against Babylon could only have begun after the Return of the Jews in 537 BCE.
The trick the WTS/JWS pulls is saying that desolation (70 years) is the same as servitude (70 years) to back date to 607.
Rearranging history to suit themselves in other words.
Al little more insightful information.......
The siege of Jerusalem was a military campaign carried out by Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon, in 597 BC. In 605 BC, he defeated Pharaoh Necho at the Battle of Carchemish, and subsequently invaded Judah. According to the Nebuchadnezzar Chronicle, King Jehoiakim of Judah rebelled against Babylonian rule, but Nebuchadnezzar captured the city and installed Zedekiah as ruler.
To avoid the destruction of Jerusalem, King Jehoiakim of Judah, in his third year, changed his allegiance from Egypt to Babylon. He paid tribute from the treasury in Jerusalem, some temple artifacts and some of the royal family and nobility as hostages.[1] In 601 BC, during the fourth year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar unsuccessfully attempted to invade Egypt and was repulsed with heavy losses. The failure led to numerous rebellions among the states of the Levant which owed allegiance to Babylon, including Judah, where King Jehoiakim stopped paying tribute to Nebuchadnezzar[2] and took a pro-Egyptian position.
Nebuchadnezzar soon dealt with these rebellions. According to the Nebuchadnezzar Chronicle,[3] he laid siege to Jerusalem, which eventually fell in 597 BC. The Chronicle states:
In the seventh year [of Nebuchadnezzar, 598 BC] in the month Chislev [November/December] the king of Babylon assembled his army, and after he had invaded the land of Hatti (Syria/Palestine) he laid siege to the city of Judah. On the second day of the month of Adar [16 March] he conquered the city and took the king [Jeconiah] prisoner. He installed in his place a king [Zedekiah] of his own choice, and after he had received rich tribute, he sent forth to Babylon.[4]
Jehoiakim died during the siege, possibly on December 10, 598 BC,[5] or during the months of Kislev,[6] or Tevet.[7] Nebuchadnezzar pillaged the city and its Temple, and the new king Jeconiah, who was either 8 or 18, and his court and other prominent citizens and craftsmen, were deported to Babylon.[8] The deportation occurred prior to Nisan of 597 BC, and dates in the Book of Ezekiel are counted from that event.[9]

Same old bullshit hey Apostate Scholar .
There are vast resources to conclude that 586 was right not 607.
The only resource you hold to is from the lying corrupt WTS's. theological dating which has no support, biblicaly or through archeological evidence.
Perhaps you can tell us why 500 years or more latter on when Jesus himself said no one knows of the time not even he ???
Was Jesus a liar and shouldn't be respected and adhered to ?
Should true Christians adhere to the words spoken by the WTS men (YOU) or Jesus Christ ?

But he/they did so effectively toward increasing the circulation of the literature the WTS published.
A little bit of fear, bullshit and ignorance can go along way in religious charlatanism .

Through historical evidence the land of Judea including Jerusalem lay desolate for only approximately 50 years, the accession over the land didn't start until the year Nebuchadnezzar took to throne after his father in 605 BCE.
605 - 70 = 535 BCE
Nebuchadnezzar's final invasion of Jerusalem including destroying the temple and taking most of the important inhabitants to Babylon was in his 19th year of rein.
605 - 19 = 586 BCE
The bible confirms this as well.
End of story....

One should keep in mind that JWS are trained to uphold the doctrines the WTS make loyally and faithfully even to point of lying if necessary.
Thats the reason why Scholar does what he does.
By the way the WTS never had academically trained bible scholars as presumptuously SA insists, they were at best novices trained by themselves or through the WTS itself.
F Franz was probably the closest to what you could call or identify as a scholar but he was quite inundated in lies and corruption creating doctrines for the Watchtower Corporation.
we all know the scripture where jesus says 'this generation will by no means pass away before the end will come'.
the jw interpret this as the destruction of the jewish state in jerusalem by the romans and the dispersal of the jewish people.
however, while researching the history of judea, i come across various facts about the region.. so jesus died about 30ce and his disciples were likewise well in their thirties or older, the 'generation' by definition would've lasted until ~50ce (the time during which children are born and raised to have children of their own).
Lets get the facts straight, the story of Jesus Christ (The Messiah) is one of ancient fictional mythology told by men to create a following and perhaps to empower themselves, the intent of these actions were real and had a purpose, which even today 2000 years later on we can still respect.

Scholar apostate says .......
Incorrect: Jer. 25:11 Describes a desolated land consistent with being conquered or vanquished by an invader with the deportations of its citizenry. Thus, the description is consistent with and Exile.
This is a typical way JWs get around the 70 years of desolation, they interpret words selectively to suit themselves.
They blatantly lie.
So SA what year did Nebuchadnezzar finally invaded Jerusalem and destroy the Temple there ?
What year did Nebuchadnezzar firstly overthrow Jerusalem and take controlling power over the city and its inhabitants ?
Lets wait for the answer and the lie(s)

A bible writer bullshitted and lied which is not uncommon in the contents of the bible.
The land did not lay desolate for 70 years, we known that conclusively through timeline of events that occurred within both Jerusalem and Babylon.
