  i remember michael dukakis, when he was a usa presidential candidate, saying i he was opposed to the death penalty - even for rapists and murderers.

  So the ending reality to what happened to Jerusalem and the surrounding area is that it was under servitude for almost 70 years by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar but was only laid desolate for approximately 47 +/- a couple of years after he finally destroyed much of the city including the main temple in 586 BCE, captivating much of the predominant inhabitants to Babylon.

  There are we all happy now ?

  The WTS's dating of Jerusalem's destruction in 607 BCE has little or no background support from various confirmed sources including the bible.

  You cant honesty make a suggestive statement like that with single brush stroke over all atheists or either Christians.

  ie. I'm a atheist and I'm for the death penalty under certain circumstances.

  This poll sucks and I wouldn't put much validity to it.

  What Do You Think About New York City?

  i have been to the city hundreds of times.

  i’ve always loved the vitality of the city and no one could ever say that you could get bored in nyc.

  i regularly went for business during the day and in the evenings go to local bars and restaurants as well as the village.

  The holy temple of Capitalism.

  Its busy noisy and polluted just like most big cities and very expensive to live there.

  Since you say they claimed to be a prophet, I think that most likely you never were a JW,

  Oh f.. off I was a JWS from birth late 1950's. left permanently in the mid 1980's
  

  By the fact that they say / preach that Christ has returned to his heavenly throne in 1914 and that mankind is now living in the last days is quite clear that they are identifying themselves as prophets supposedly guided by god's holy spirit.

  They didn't adhere to Jesus's words when he said no one knows of the time not even even he and then admonished his followers to not set a time upon god's own sacred time.

  The very reason why most other Christian based faiths have not done what the WTS men have done.
  

  Why did the WTS men set a time and disregard Jesus's words is because they had literature to sell and lure in people to the organization where they too can financially contribute to the organization through money and labor.

  Share in the sins of those top controlling men in other words..
  

  Its quite obvious Rutherford was a charlatan whore who lived a rich lavish life off the WTS's proceeds.

  Now days the GB men share the wealth of those proceeds, such as building new modern technically expensive buildings complete with swimming pools and tennis courts.

  Get it ?

  DJW if your that much in denial and willing to white wash over the JWS , why dont get your suit on and get back, you'll get a pretentious conditional smile at the Kingdom Hall waiting for you but dont tell them you've been here discussing the faith or you wont.

  Religious convictions are usually diverse from truth and intellectual honesty.

  So arguing with someone who wants to uphold their religious convictions is like talking to a brick wall.
  

  Thats also why so many people leave the JW religion.

  As I've said before scholar cant be articulately honest because of his devout religoius convictions as a JWS.

  His counter agreements are nevertheless useful to those interested in the doctrines made by the JWS such as 607 BCE and 1914 showing how flawed they are.

  The top JWs leaders have never been involved in academic bible theology, they have been involved in novice charlatanism though.

  Since they did not claim to receive any revelations for God, then technically they had not spoken in the name of the god in the sense of being a prophet (or claiming to be a prophet) of the god - despite coming extremely close to such.

  Sorry guy but they have proclaimed that they are guided by god's holy spirit and they have claimed in their literature they are modern day prophets.

  Since they say things that god has not given them to say or preached/teach things that are against Jesus's own instructions for preaching his Gospel, they are identifiable as false prophet apostates according to scripture.

  It all depends on what you take to heart, their words or the bible's words.

  Scholar why dont you just be intellectually honest and just say the ancient Hebrews did not suffer 70 years of desolation but came close to being captive by the Babylonians for almost 70 years,

  Ancient Jerusalem did not get invaded and destroyed in 607 BCE but the overwhelming evidence points to 586 BCE.
  

  All that happened to the inhabitants of Jerusalem including those set about kings are documented into history and supported by archeological findings including the bible.

  Being dishonest is not a virtue to ones character, not least a practicing Christian.

  i had a legal divorce from my ex wife( law of the land).

  i was told not to expect to get remarried because my divorce was not legal to watchtower.. my divorce and situation seem to be a talk of gossip and even a many local needs talks.

  i wanted to take some more schooling to get a better job, there was a local needs talk on higher education and it's dangers.

  What really turned me off after being brought up in this religion was that its core operation or doctrines were corrupt apostate lies presented as to be preaching a true Gospel of Jesus.

  It wasn't !
  

  You can groom a person with a nice smile and dress but if they preach false bible teachings they are unrighteous false prophets, sinners.
  

  What it was was corrupt religious charlatanism through literature proliferation designed intentionally by the leaders of the Watchtower Corporation, it still is.
