but that I see little evidence of him being guilty of charlatanism.
What, ? the WTS is religious charlatanism at its core.
If there was ever a typical identifiable charlatan operating within the WTS it would be J Rutherford.
he seems to me to be the angriest and most ill-tempered of all the wt presidents, especially after his stint in prison and failed prophecies.. “regarding his misguided statements as to what we could expect in 1925, he [rutherford] once confessed to us at bethel, “i made an ass of myself.”” watchtower 1984 oct 1 p.24.
rutherford died at beth sarim on january 8, 1942, at the age of 72.

One thing Rutherford knew what he had to do to keep himself in power of the WTS organization and its holding money is keep the bullshit ongoing and that is just what he did.
He realized that bullshiting equated to power and money and religious charlatanism was the answer to that.
His books were sold and distributed by coerced and allured followers who thought they themselves were being devotedly loyal to Jesus in spreading the message of the new Kingdom to come placing themselves in his righteous favor.
Well something else happened.
i know this happened several years ago but.... holy christ!
they beat the poor girl 160 times with a 3/4 inch cable!
"in a slow, steady voice, assistant state's atty.
Of course Min but its an indication of how JWS parents follow the bible's instructions for rearing children, you know the ancient civilization that existed 3000 years ago.
My parents particularly my father would belt us for the most little of reasons and use other acts of violence against us, he to this day is not very well liked or loved by us.
Some of these JWS fathers would treat their children like animals in need for correction.
These things are now illegal in most modernized countries for a reason.

It goes back to 2001 though, sad really for those poor children.
How many times do you hear about JWS parents beating their children ?
Spare the rod spoil the child the bible says.
question: what does the watchtower society's history of prophetic speculation prove?.
how would you respond to this answer provided by paul coom... yesterday on quora?.
"our organization has never been a prophetic speculator.
Correct Vander but the WTS players knew what they were creating around themselves by proclaiming god had chosen them, play their game at their will or get out.
They subjectively knew a head that they were just going to say well we are imperfect too brothers and sisters, but we have now just received new light.
There is a lot of corruption within the WTS/JWS if you look closely at this organization with examining scrutiny.

True Min and that's why so much harm can come from these men.
Jws are coerced and influenced to obey and follow these men because they say they have been chosen by god for their high level of righteous purity.
As long as people do so they usually wont relinquish that power, control and connecting money which there usually is.

They inherent irony to the JWS religion is that it was formulated upon apostasy or false prophecies which the bible even warns to devout Christians.
All the leaders of the WTS/JWS were sinful apostates according to bible scripture.
In reality when you become a JWS you make a vow of loyalty to those men whom are objectively opposed to Jesus's teachings and instructions.

Adding to his ego was a lot of power and money that was available through what Russell left in the WTS.
Rutherford I dont think was even on the list of men made by Russell to whom should succeed him stated in his will.
Rutherford's ever present character is similar to which you can see in many men who are positioned in the organization in being bully, over aggressive, arrogant and power driven.
I guess that's what happens to men when they assume they have the power of god within themselves.

"our organization has never been a prophetic speculator.
Short answer, it was an endeavored commercialized fraud that was supposedly stamped approved by god by the men who created it.
Fear beget fear, ignorance beget ignorance and there were many false doctrines

"our organization has never been a prophetic speculator.
All the prophecies we have commented upon are scripturally based.
Yes but done so falsely to support the organization's agenda of literature proliferation.
The WTS created a Gospel of Jesus that wasn't scripturaly accurate or honest.
There was greater appeal to sell rather than be loyally devout to Jesus and his instructions for preaching his Gospel.
