NAME UNKNOWN: KILLED BY US/BRITISH IN IRAQ. ONE OF UP TO 8000 CIVILIANS KILLED IN THE LIBERATION OF IRAQ.
now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!
perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.
now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

So Donald Rumsfeld says that the US had NO new evidence of WMD before the war, just the existing evidence seen through the prism of the events of 9/11.
But thats not what they told us before the war, is it?
Rumsfeld brushes aside WMD fears | ||||||
It was increased worries about terrorism, not new evidence of Iraqi preparations, that was the key reason for going to war, he told the Senate Armed Services Committee. "The coalition did not act in Iraq because we had discovered dramatic new evidence of Iraq's pursuit of weapons of mass destruction. We acted because we saw the evidence in a dramatic new light - through the prism of our experience on 9/11," he said. Mr Rumsfeld said that WMD would eventually be found in Iraq. He said that the terrorist attacks on the United States in September 2001 "changed our appreciation of our vulnerability - and the risks the US faces from terrorist states and terrorist networks armed with powerful weapons". One Republican Senator, James Inhofe, argued that the whole controversy over WMDs was a "diversionary tactic by the media". Tough questions Mr Rumsfeld stated off in an ebullient mood as he appeared before the committee along with General Tommy Franks, who has just stood down as commander of US forces in Iraq. Republicans and Democrats alike were eager to praise General Franks for his quick and decisive victory in war, and for his new style of warfare. But the defence secretary soon faced tough questioning on the current situation in Iraq - and the justification for war. Mr Rumsfeld attempted to downplay the significance of Tuesday's admission by the White House that allegations that Iraq had tried to buy uranium from the African state of Niger were based on forged documents. He told the committee that "the fact that the facts change from time to time with respect to specifics does not surprise me or shock me at all; it is all to be expected. It is part of the intelligence world we live in." Experts upset Joseph Cirincione, director of the Non-Proliferation project at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said that he was "shocked" by Mr Rumsfeld's comments, and that public statements by senior Bush administration figures had repeatedly claimed that there was new, fresh evidence for WMD programmes in Iraq.
And former key intelligence official in the State Department, Greg Thielmann, said that the Iraqi intelligence estimates "had been misrepresented on the part of the administration", with both "misleading summaries" and "inaccurate formulations" clouding the accuracy of key public statements. Mr Thielmann, who stood down as military affairs director of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research in October, noted that his boss, Colin Powell, had not repeated the claims made by President Bush about Iraq's nuclear programme in his testimony to the UN. He said that his agency had rejected such evidence as not well-founded.
Mr Thielmann also said that there was little evidence linking al-Qaeda and Iraq. Bringing the boys home Many senators had more local concerns. They wanted to know when the American troops would be coming home, and why Iraqis were still shooting at them. General Franks admitted that the US would have to maintain its current force levels, of around 145,000 soldiers, in Iraq "for the foreseeable future." Mr Rumsfeld said that the US was hoping that forces from other nations, including Britain and Poland, would replace some US divisions in the future, with up to 30,000 coalition forces in place by the autumn. He seemed unable to answer a question by Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who voted against the war, as to how much the occupation of Iraq would cost. Mr Rumsfeld's staff later said that current US operations in Iraq cost $4bn per month, or nearly $50bn per year, while Afghanistan costs nearly $1bn per month. Republican Senator John McCain urged the Bush administration to "give the American people a concrete plan" on the costs and duration of the US occupation in Iraq "even if this is a pessimistic scenario". |
it was reported today that islamic jihad and hamas have offered a truce in an attempt to push for peace in israel.
instead of accepting this, israel has declined it.
rather, they are prepared to continue targeting more innocent palestinians in the region.

the stories coming out of italy at the moment are unbelievable.. berlusconi is the italian prime minister.
he is also the countries biggest media mogul and the president of real madrid football club.. he recently telephoned a live television debate on italy's top political program and shouted at the presenter,( for daring to bring up the scandal that is facing berlusconi ) and said to him ' you are a public sector worker, know your place!'.
he then took the program off the air and sacked the presenter.
Schroeder axes Italy holiday after official slurs German visitors
WED Jul 09 2003 10:20:23 ET
Berlin (dpa) - German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on Wednesday cancelled a planned vacation to Italy after an Italian government official refused to apologize for referring to German tourists as ``stereotyped blondes with a hyper-nationalist pride.''
``The family ... will spend its vacation at home in Hanover,'' said Schroeder's chief spokesman, Bela Anda.
Anda said this was to ensure a proper holiday without disruptions. Schroeder's move came after the official in Rome who made the remarks, under-secretary Stefano Stefani who is responsible for tourism, rejected making any apology for the comments.
About 10 million German tourists visit Italy each year. Earlier, German Interior Minister Otto Schily - a heavyweight in Schroeder's cabinet - demanded Stefani quit.
Economics and Labour superminister Wolfgang Clement also said Stefani should resign, saying his comments could not be beat for sheer ``idiocy.''
Chancellor Schroeder had been due to begin his vacation in central Italy on July 20.
The row between Rome and Berlin follows bitter words by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who last week had likened a German member of the European parliament to a Nazi concentration camp functionary.
Italy took over the rotating presidency of the European Union (E.U.) on July 1 and there are fears that the acrimony will hamper efforts to hammer out a new constitution by the end of the year.
Stefani published his bombshell commentary last Friday in the Northern League's official newspaper, La Padania.
In it he branded Germans as people ``that have been indoctrinated to feel first in the class'', who ``noisily invade our beaches'' and who have grown up engaging in ``belching competitions after drinking enormous amounts of beer and stuffing themselves with fried kartoffeln (chips).''
After Berlusconi told a German MP that he would be good for a part in a film about Nazi's as a camp Commandant, another Italian minister calls German tourists. Nothing like building relations with your neighbors.!
The concert I enjoyed the most was a total surprise.
I was asked to drive my family to see Garth Brooks when he came to England on his world tour.
Didn't expect to enjoy it but he was fantastic (don't laugh)
He was that good we went to see him again when he added another date to the tour (I know...sad)
