  Pseudo history in Watchtower today 😂

  gorby went to the kh for family reasons today.. and landed right away middle in a pseudo history watchtower article.

  just that aspect of the jw belief he is so sensative about.. so 1918 and 1919 are changed with one mark of a pencil.

  the argument of change was in the past the argument of the doctrine.

  Maybe they can prove that the parousia actually occurred in 1931, when God gave them a new name.This will allow them to return to the old understanding of "this generation", buying them more time.
  

  When I explained to my very indoctrinated friend that Jerusalem absolutely did not fall in 607 BCE but 20 years later, and how that throws off the 2520 years, he went from a shocked face to a happy face and said they'll switch it to 1934 "to buy more time!"

  Problem: It's 2017. If they wanted to do that to buy time and for the sake of accuracy, they really should have done it back in the 70s, 80s or even the 90s when it had been made clear to them that 607 is totally wrong.

  Has WT actually drafted an End of Days tract?

  i heard in years past that there was such a tract planned for the great tribulation.

  my father at the time denied this, and reasoned that that would not be a loving thing for them to do, to essentially say, "told ya so!".

  last year, the bunker videos had brother brown mention "a message of judgment".. has such material been drafted or is this just another bluff?.

  7th Day Adventist growth/decline stats similar to JWs

  the sda's are also getting most of their growth in africa and latin america but plateauing or declining in europe and parts of the western world.. what's also interesting is the sda leadership fronts up and attempts to explain why there is decline in some areas of the world (albeit somewhat disingenously), eg, on the link below from 2014. but the watchtower leaders have never tried to give any explanation for why membership is dramatically falling away in the western world.

  How do JW's determine a person is anointed?

  i've always wondered about this.

  when a person believes they made a spiritual connection with god and proclaims themselves as anointed, how do they determine whether this person is anointed or not.

  does a group of elders look at the person's spiritual resume and check off the person's pioneer stats, bible knowledge, attendance, work ethic, personality, etc and then believe in the person if they have a good track record?

  then in the fourth day he created the sun, the moon and the stars.

  of course, it did not actually happen, but what did the writer have in mind?.

  It isn't scientific cosmology. It's myth. You know how most creation myths start with a big battle between gods and monsters?

  "In the beginning, Elohim (many gods) bārā (not created, but cut out) the heavens and the earth. And the earth was tōhū and bōhū, and the darkness was on the surface of the tehōm."

  Tehōm is the primordial ocean, space or Absolute. Tōhū and bōhū, mistranslated "without form and void," connoted the monstrous and the violent. As Professor Jeremias, the German orientalist, says: "There can be no doubt that tōhū is connected with Ti(h)amat and bōhū with Behemoth. Bōhū is the equivalent of the the Babylonian Apsu, the male mate of Tiamat."
