Don't know why JWs wouldn't join the scheme. Under the ARC own recommendations, there would only be a small amount of the 1700 victims that would qualify for any kind of payment let alone at the top amount.

UK Newspaper Investigation, Your Stories Requested
by Slidin Fast inthe guardian, no less, is asking for stories of abuse at the hands of jws.
they seem to be doing a serious investigation, you can tell your story anonymously, on the record or in any combination to suit you.
this may be the start of a real spotlight on dubdom.

any proper journalist like when the Boston Globe did the Catholic's looks for evidence to back up claims. There has to be evidence of not just the act but that someone tried to stop someone from calling the police. The first part is easy to get evidence on the second part is extremely hard and maybe impossible.

Sexist article about construction
by neat blue dog inhttps://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/activities/construction/women-in-construction/.
it's all about women being trained to operate heavy equipment, like it's a miracle.
they quote the male foreman, but don't tell you that only men are allowed to be foreman.

Actually many times sisters do run crews. They can't run a construction shop, but crews you see them all the time running it and giving direction to brothers.

Apostate is an easy excuse
by Formerbrother init seems to me that if there is something that any jw doesnt want anybody to look into, then they can just say the one word apostate, and nobody wil look at it.. this is rather convenient.. what if it is the truth, still dont even look at it to find out?.

Kind of like using the term apologist to just ignore what someone says.

The strange case of Gerrit Losch
by Gorbatchov inone of the recent molest cases had a signed declaration of gerrit losch, stating he has no relation with watchtower and that he has no control over watchtower and he does not answer to watchtower.. this month he is hosting the watchtower broadcasting show, on a watchtower media chanel, with a watchtower president starring as co-host, with statements, media and music that have intellectual ownership and copyright by watchtower.. gerrit is asking on broadcasting for respect for “the slave”, just like jehova and jesus respect “the slave” and will even reward them.. are the writers of the statement too stupid to see the correlation between teaching and practicing?.
these man are proven liars.. how can hold this firewall stand?
it’s so thin.. a judge can see this mismach isn’t it??.

Other than embarrassing Gerrit Losch what information would he have that the PMQ that was deposed couldn't have supplied in this specific case that the subpoena was issued for. The plaintiff was suing over what happened to him and the response that occurred following it.
The law doesn't allow people to be deposed just to humiliate them.

Padron Case Settled. What happens to the fine?
by Slidin Fast init seems that irwin zalkin has obtained undisclosed settlement in the case.
the $4000 a day fine then seems to be dead.
the downside?

Also if a defendant offers a reasonable settlement and you refuse and you lose the case either at trial or through summary judgement or if the winning amount is less than the settlement offer, not only is the defendant off the hook but also you may be required to pay for legal fees of the defendant.

There are also other factors to take into account. There could be other appeals cases in California that may limit information or make it a weaker case for the plaintiff or the defendant. There was recently a case in California where the appeals court limited a database information to similar cases, so that could also have affected this case. No one really knows.

I don't think anyone really thinks what Shakespear would have wanted when they are publishing a collection of his work. Granted probably not copyrighted but still.

Was the fine continued even when it was on appeal? I thought I read somewhere that the trial court put the case on hold till after the appeal decision. I think the fine stopped at $64,000, and following the appeal, the plaintiff had to file a new motion to get the documents and potential penalties following 30 days after the appeal.
