Guardian Newspaper
by Phoebe injust to say, the guardian investigative reporter who is looking into child abuse among jws rang me today as i had completed the form linked to their recent article.. we had a nice chat, she asked me for some details about my particular experience and asked me to spread the word as they are looking for more abuse victims.
her new article will probably come out in 10 days, so look out for it.. if you are in the uk and you are a victim or know of one, this is an opportunity to speak out and you can remain anonymous, as i have done.

I am in no way saying that your story is not true in any way. I am just looking at the movie Spotlight where the reporters were not so concerned on the fact that the abuse occurred because that wasn't going to be a huge surprise as the priests were human, but that there was a cover-up. Was the reporter looking for more on evidence of a cover-up or was she just looking for a one-off story? -

It is not right to try and conflate what is your personal grips with Watchtower with that of sexual child abuse. That is one of the things I have a problem with. People on posts or news articles that deal with child abuse within Watchtower and then complain about DFing or beards or the UN. These things are not equal and by trying to connect them people are minimizing what is an actual problem and crime with just another issue with an organization.
This is about child sexual abuse and nothing else.

UK: Jehovah's Witness used his position to abuse girls as young as five
by darkspilver ina paedophile used his position within the jehovah's witnesses to sexually abuse three girls for years - as young as five.
michael john hewitt, 71, abused his victims over several decades, starting in the 1980s, at home while they were all under 16. .
two of his victims were aged just five when hewitt began abusing them at both their homes and his while he was a member of the congregation.

At least the end process worked. When the abuse became known the authorities were notified and the authorities took action based on the crime.

Politically Neutral? Can a legalistic organization claim that status?
by OrphanCrow ini found a document that discusses the canadian tax law for religions.. http://www.carters.ca/pub/seminar/church/2010/kjc0824.pdf.
i have long held the view that the org/wts says that it is non-political yet they behave like a political organization.
and it bothers me that religions are restricted from political activity yet the org has always been political.

So by your definition, a person on trial for murder is trying to change the policy of the laws. No, they are defending themselves within the confines of the law.

According to the Redress Scheme from the Department of Social Services.
The majority of the cases with Watchtower was family cases.
The type of abuse - It must include sexual abuse.
- An institution must be responsible for the abuse. The Scheme doesn’t cover non-institutional abuse, such as by a family member.
Where and when it happened - The abuse must have happened when the person was aged under 18.
- It must have happened before 1 July 2018, when the Scheme starts.
- The institution or organisation responsible for the abuse must have joined the Redress Scheme. So far, only the Commonwealth, New South Wales and Victorian governments have agreed to join the scheme.
A person’s life now - The person applying must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

It is not just that victim has to be willing to step forward but both the victim and the perpetrator have to meet criteria for the victim to actually receive compensation from what happened to them.
Main one for the victim is that they can never have been convicted of a felony crime.
For the perpetrator, it is not only that they have had to be an associate of an organization but that the organization had to have been aware of their propensity to commit this crime because they had done it before. So for the victims where they were the first to be abused or if the abuse stopped once the associated organization found out about it, those victims would not qualify for compensation. Nor would victims of serial abusers if any of the victims did not inform the associated organization or the civil authorities of the abuse.

Don't know why JWs wouldn't join the scheme. Under the ARC own recommendations, there would only be a small amount of the 1700 victims that would qualify for any kind of payment let alone at the top amount.

any proper journalist like when the Boston Globe did the Catholic's looks for evidence to back up claims. There has to be evidence of not just the act but that someone tried to stop someone from calling the police. The first part is easy to get evidence on the second part is extremely hard and maybe impossible.

Sexist article about construction
by neat blue dog inhttps://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/activities/construction/women-in-construction/.
it's all about women being trained to operate heavy equipment, like it's a miracle.
they quote the male foreman, but don't tell you that only men are allowed to be foreman.

Actually many times sisters do run crews. They can't run a construction shop, but crews you see them all the time running it and giving direction to brothers.
