the following is an article i found in my files this morning while i was looking for something else.
it is short and pointed:.

I don't know what it is about your threads Amazing, but you always seem to amaze me.

just when you think your immune to the pain from family members shunning you get a surprise.
my sister hasn't talked or communicated with us for nearly 2 years.
in november my mom bought her granddaughter ashley a beautiful doll.
I'm sorry to hear about that Ven. I often wonder what is going through the minds of these dubs that totally shun family members. The fortunate thing for me is although I am DF'd and my parents are still JW, as well as one sister, I am not shunned, I call my mom on a somewhat regular basis, and she appreciates it. When I'm in the states we as a family get together for a family reunion of sorts, and even my JW sister shows up for it.
There are laws in most states that give visiting rights to grandparents, perhaps that might help, they can get regular schedualed visits, but it depends on the states.
Hang in there Ven

i've done a little research since leaving the wts and am having difficulting sorting out what i really believe in.
after some studying of different faiths and their doctrines, i find i can relate to the jewish faith....but i do believe in jesus.
so i found out about this faith called jews for jesus.
Hi nativenyr23,
I have a friend on my Yahoo messenger list that is a Messianic Jew. She has basiclly said to me that it is not so much a denomination, as it is a movement. Do be careful becasue there is a group of them that is a cult and is a denomonation they are called the Messianic Communities, although they are technically Messianic jews, they are not part of the Messianic Jewish movement. Here is a link that addresses them both:

there are links there for you to also get more information.

I left in 1977, but still attended a meeting here and there, until my wife and I split, she was the only reason I would go at all after '77. I totally stopped going in about 1982 and moved 300 miles away from the congregation I had attended, got DF'd in 84-85.

im about to disassociate myself, and would like to know from those who have been disassociated , is there anything you would have done different before you disassociated yourself?
do you recommend writing a letter?
i really don't want to write a letter, cause that is what they want you to do, and they will never give you anything in writing.
Chezza,
That happened to me, I had drifted away for a nunber of years, and then moved away into another state (about 300 miles). I had not been to a meeting for over 4 years and was away from the congregation I was suposedly associated with for about 2 years. I had gotten divorced, and then I found a woman I liked and we got married. So my ex obvously knew about it and took it to the elders, they wrote me a letter, telling me to show up at a judicial mettings in one week. I wrote them back and said that if they pay for my hotel, and my meals I would gladly show up. Well, needless to say they wouldn't so I didn't. I most likely wouldn't have gone to the Kangaroo Court anyway, their DF'ing never harmed me, I had already made a whole new circle of friends and had really not had any contact with any JW's in over 2 years (with the exception of my DRUNK for an ex-wife), so it really made no matter to me.

please only respond to this message if you read everything on here first.
thank you.. why do people spend most of their time here complaining?.
some say: the organization is too strict!.
Hello Guy,
Dutchy is correct, in a sence, yes the old publications did not say "Armegeddon is going to be in 1975", but they did push this as the date. They made statements to the effect of looking forward to 1975, they asked people to sell their belongings and finish off this old system preaching. They tried to corelate the 6,000 year end with armegeggon. Often they would include the two ideals of 6,000 years and armegodden into the same paragraph. There is a speach given by a district overseer, given in 1968 that stressed that 1975 was going to be a significant date.
I never heard the Watchtower magazine or any WT publication come out to try and quell the ferver for 1975. All the publications did was to add fuel to the fire, so to speak, about 1975.
You can listen to the recording of the entire talk by Charles Sunutko, District overseer at a conventon in 1968 here: http://www.watchtowernews.org/wav/sunutko75.html
just click on the link and it will start to play in Real player it is not edited it is the entire speach. He again does say the 6,000 year thing but he also stresses the idea that it may end with Armegeddon.
Now as far as complaining, Hmmmm yes there is some on this board, but I think you will find it more telling and relating what has happened to each of us. Looking for support and understanding and reassurance that we were correct that it was not the truth. Also there is much news here, new information as to what is really going on in the WTS, without the Governing Bodies slant to it.
I was there in 1975, I saw it, I saw what people did and were doing, what the WTS said and how they handled it. It was not a pretty picture.

here i thought i was going to get through the memorial season in peace this year.. how wrong i was!.
was this supposed to be a memorial invitation?.
yesterday i got an unexpected phone call from my mom.. i said hi and asked her how she was.. she said not very good.. i told her i was sorry to hear that and that i was concerned about her health problems and asked if she had had any tests done or gotten results.. she said no thats not why she wasnt doing well.. i could tell from the tone of her voice that this wasnt going to be pretty.. she told me that the reason she wasnt doing well is because the memorial was coming up,.
Hi all,
My mom really never mentions anything to me about the Jdubs, but then again I am DF'd so I would not expect her to. But once in a while she does surt out a "I really wish you would come back", then drops it.

the following article is taken from the bible students association website found at:.
http://www.food4jws.org/wt_history/slave.htm.
very interesting information indeed, complete with quotes taken directly from wt literature.. ---------------------------------------------------.
There is also a break off group of Jehovahs witnesses, most of whom are in Romania, they have a website, and really do not talk kindly about the WTS calling it Satan org, and the "Evil Slave" also.
thisis their home page
http://the-true-jw.oltenia.ro/
the resoloution refering to the WTS as Satans org is here
http://the-true-jw.oltenia.ro/rez-en-95.html
These are actually a group of JW's that were cut off during the communist rule of eastern Euorpe, and when the iron curtian came down, they found the WTS so out of line with the early teachings they could no longer accept them as Gods Channel.
It's an interesting read.

well i finally go my invitation to the ritual today.
i didn't know either of them but they had a nice smile and were dressed in the proper attire.
the invitation was a little less quality than usual, and said, "printed in the usa".
I was just talking to my wife yesterday about going to the shindig (she was never a Jdub never will be either). I figured I should go in the proper Island wear, shorts, tank top, zories (for you mainlanders that is flip flops, thongs ya know them kinda shoes). Then in partake of some bland crakers and a little wine. I wonder if they would object if I brought my own cheese?? those crakers are pretty dull. I hope it's a good year of wine, I hate the cheap stuff.
