However, congregations have never been instructed to disfellowship those who voluntarily take blood transfusions or approve them.
What a pack of lies, I have known of instances that they have been DF'd for this. SHEESH............. idiots.

who here is polytheistic?
is jehovah just another god?

Panthiest do not have a set of rules like many religons, but their are general beleifs that describe a panthiest and one of them is not accepting things such as witchcraft and shamanism which I do accept. Now on that note Panthiest are also part of those beliefs, but not the mainstay of them. Panthiests are generally on the verge of Athiestic, but not quite. Panthiesm often includes in a broad sence all nature religons like wicca, shamanism, native american and austrailian, taoists, true shintos, buddist and so forth. even Hindus have a panthiestic view of religon and nature. They have no "Doctrine" as the jeudeo/christian/islamic religons do, however there are certain beliefs. the one common to all, is nature and the belief in everything is of this energy and we are this energy. The Hindus call it Brahman, the native american (Lakotas) call it wakentanka.

Hi Sirona,
No I do not beleive in any gods female or male, I am really a panthiest and beleive there is an energy but it is not a personage or an almighty to worship, it is strictly energy. I however do beleive we can tap into this energy, which is where panthiesm and I start to drift, becasue mainstream panthiests generally do not beleive in any sort of energy that is "usable" as in tapping into it with the mind and body, but I do.

for me definitely the blood issue will change,.
the 1914 generation term has been given new light.. what do you think the watchtower will change next ?????????.
this should be a good chat.
I see the 1914 idea changing, in the near future, but in actual fact it really has, the one generation form then has been moderatly switched. But the one thing I really see coming is a rethought about the 144k, not so much that it is not a literal number, but that there are 2 classes going to heaven. As someone stated earlier in this thread, the numbers are not diminishing, so they really need to do something about it, and I feel it will be a new heavenly class of some sort.
Who knows, these duffs are full of surprises at times

Jehovah, who is written in the bible as YHWH is really just an adaptation of the Hebrew peoples from Canannite gods. YHWH is mentioned in the Pantheon of the Canannites the section known as the Ugarit. He is spoken of as one of the sons of El the almighty, but he is really a lesser god to them. He was known as the god of war and the god of the desert. Which in it's own way explains why the Hebrews would have adopted him and gave him he atributes of El of the Canannites. The Hebrews in their glorified history known as the bible indicated how much they used war and used the desert for their nomadic way of life prior to setteling down in what is now known as Palastine/Israel.
During early religous periods the gods had a pecking order, but most religons didn't consider one god greater then the others, they each had their portion of the cosmos to rule, and worship of one god could be carried out inthe temple of another without consiquence. All gods were respected, and worshipped. some religous beliefs had Almighty Gods, like El, Ahura Mazda ect, but of the religons in Euorpe none were really Almighty, some were supreme some faught, but even Zeus was not almighty, he was justt the Chief god and had more power then the others.
I have found that all gods were used by the ancients to explain why we are what and who we are as well as everything else in the universe. No religon was controlling and imperialistic as Christianity until Christianity came around, since then it has bred other such belief systems including Islam. The all have come out of the Hebrew belief of one almighty God, which was really an adaptation from an Egyption belief system that was prevalent during the time that Moses was suppose to have existed. Their are many that feel that it (Jeudism) is really just a continuation of that belief, I have not seen any real evidence of this just speculation and logic indicating the idea.

i thought this was discssed before but i couldn't find it, so forgive if this is repetitious.
at deuteronomy 32:8-9, part of the "song of moses" the text says the "most high" divvied up the nations to the gods he gave judah to yhwh/jehovah as his "allotment".
this "song" is view for textural and language reasons to be one of the oldest portions of the bible, an ancient song that was incorporated into the narrative and ascribed to the moses character.
I have found it interesting to research this subject, of YHWH being a son of the Almighty El and the brother of Baal, but I have never found this topic as yet. I know most Christians do not know that their God is actually decended from a Canaanite pantheion, but the facts are there. Is there any other web recorces on this subject that you guys may have? I would be interested in reading it.
Let me know,

are the witness numbers going down?
or, are they still increasing?
does anyone have any good data on this?
The dunkings have been declining, but between 2001 and 2002 they ever sooooo slightly went up, but it appears to be still on a decline, we will see next year.

jgnat,
I read the stats on the webpage you posted, it really appears to m e that the JW's had an increase in meeting attendence and such due to the 9-11 attack. The number of babtisems is still declining or very slightly going up as in compairing 2001 and 2002 there was a slight increase, yet the number of publsihers went up by 2.1%. I think it was all the fence sitters thinking the Great Day was about to arrive, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years. But then again with the war on terror it may still climb and the J-Dubs I am sure will use that to their advantage, just as all the other christian churches will. It seems that the largest increase of industrial nations, was in the USA where the actual 9-11 attack too place.

people have touched on this subject in other posts.....
i was just wondering ..... has there ever been anything good come about thanks to christianity?.
all i can think of is oppression, torture, hypocrisy, etc....... .
More people have died in the name of atheism (no God) then that died throughout all history in the name of any one God.
I have a very hard time accepting this statement, although the people you named were known athiests, they did not kill in the name of athiesem, they did in the name of political revoloution and reform and athiesem was a part of it, but not all of it. Yes they did persicute and kill religous people.
