Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?

hello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.

if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.

i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

Ok here is my expierence on this matter, as if that really matters

First, it depends on your local elders and how much they Like to use and abuse authority.

Second, it dependson what you tell others about it, for instance, if you start talking in a way of amazment of what you have learned, your a gonner, bu tif you say "Do you beleive the crap?" your in.

Third just owning one or more is not really gounds for DF'ing unless you refer to the first item. My father had a few apostate books he read, but never really bought into them and he had them laying around the house, as an elder, he felt it was keeping up with the enemy, I never remember anyone ever having a problem with it.

I won't cut my beard!

some time ago i learned of the un affair & saw the truth...i am fading away now so i have not been attending meetings regularly for some time, specially the book study.

two days ago, i learned that a letter was read in my book study regarding personal attire, and it was said that one should not grow a beard (this letter was not read in any of the other book studies).

they say you are not a good christian, you are not spiritual, if you grow a beard.

Back in the mid to late 70's when I was starting my drifting, I also grew a beard, A couple of elders came to talk to me about my spirtual weakness and try to get me to start back to meetings. The one subject came up was my beard. They tried to tell me how it is not really proper because promenant men in community do not have them, so it looks like a rebeleious attitude to the public. I actually chuckled at them, and pointed out that the local mayor and several promenant bussiness men in the small town we were in had beards and one of them even had a longer beard then I did. The subject was never brought up again.

P.S. My beard is still going strong after 27 years of growth, LOL.

san francisco, california (ap) -- for the first time ever, a federal appeals court declared the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional wednesday because of the words "under god" added by congress in 1954. .

Actually, I found the idea that the words "Under God" should never have been in the Pledge to begin with, especially in a nation that said they seperated Church from State. I have really for years never figured why they were in there at all. That is, that the US is suppose to be a country of Religious freedoms (although not always been that way), so the idea that Athesits, agnostics and pagans are getting the Almighty YHWH shoved down their throuts has always turned my stomach.

OH and yes, plmkrzy, it was not the entire pledge, just the words "under God".

I guess just my 2 cents worth.

How Many Pagans?

i was curious to see how many pagans were on the board and what form you practiced.

i myself am newer to the pagan scene and am studying witchcraft...something i secretly did when i was a teenage jw.

any way looking forward to hearing your comments.

Hey folks,
I consider myself a Pagan, I never really have followed a path, I would think I would be an agnostic pagan. I reciently read the description of a Pantheist and pretty much found that is the basic ideal of what I beleive. So I guess I beleive in pantheism with witchcraft thrown in LOL. I studied Wicca for a while, But I dunno, it didn;t quite fit with me to be considered part of a group with rules and doctrines (what few any of them have), So for a long time I drifted calling myself an ecclectic neo-pagan. Which is more or less what I still am, except when I call my self pantheist people have no idea what I am talking about LOL.

Sounds good Obie, except it won't let me sign up, in fact if you live on any of the Pacific Islands, out side of the Hawaiian, you can not sigh up. So I guess until then it really isn't an international meet up.

Does anyone grow their own herbs?

i am looking for some help regarding harvesting herbs (yes......real herbs!)..

i know w/basil, it must be blanched for 1-2 seconds and then dried before it can be frozen.

oregano, i believe has to be dried.

The basil was the only one I started from seed. The cuban Oregano, I had a friend that had a plant and he gave me a few clippings, it is a very hearty plant, and actually has no resemblence to actual oregano, but the flavor is simular to the oreganos.

I think however you can start basil from a cutting as I have seen when it lays on the ground it will start to root where it is touching the ground. I am not sure how well it will produce by cloning though.

I knew he had moved out to the east coast, when he left he wanted me and another employee to take over his electrical business, but it never really worked out. I think his oldest son's name was billy that rings a bell anyway.

Anyone familiar with the goings on in the Hutchinson Congregation of late? I was wondering about a few people tha I have not heard hide-nor-hair of in a couple of decades. A couple of old friends of mine like Gene and Linda Wedenroth (I heard they got divorced), Hmmmm a few others but I can't remember their names LOL (old age I guess is setting in LOL),

I have just reciently started my own herb garden, I currently have sweet Basil, Rosemary, Oregano, Marjoram, Thyme, Chives, and an herb Called Cuban Oregano. all but the basil I started from Cuttings I got from the Grocery store as fresh herbs or from a friend of mine. The Sweet basil I started from seed.

Hey all,

I used to go to the Hutchinson congregation for many years, I actually helped start the Litchfield Congregation (south of Redwood Falls) in it infancy. PLH, the family you mentioned I do not remember them at all and I was there for about 8 years in the 70's and a little of the 80's (the 80's were my drifting period). Does anyone in the St Cloud area know the Lonnie Randall family?? I used to work for him and wondered what ever happened to him.

P.S. I wish I was going to the US this year I would love to go to the apostofest in MN, But maybe I'll hold one next year whe I visit my Daughter in Minneapolis, if she is game LOL.
