About 10 years ago an elder made a point of telling the congregation that the number of meat eating birds in the world had dramatically increased that year, nobody (including myself) bothered to check if there was any truth to this claim, Armageddon was too close to bother checking facts.

Do they know what 7.5 billion dead bodies look like?
by jambon1 inin their sick and twisted bubble that they live in, the jehovahs witnesses clearly have no idea about the logistical nightmare of disposing of 7.5 billion corpses.. when i heard an elder once say that it will be a joy to clear away the wicked from the earth, he actually had a smile on his face.. can they even begin to imagine what 7.5 billion dead men, women, children & babies looks like?.
"let the eye feel no sorrow".
sick bastards..

what are your thoughts on this quote from the elders book?
by aboveusonlysky in'in order to extend mercy, the committee must be convinced that the wrongdoer has a changed heart condition and that he has a zeal to right the wrong and is absolutely determined to avoid it in the future.'.
shepherd the flock page 91. i remember this is one of the first things that concerned me as an elder because it seemed to sound like a person is guilty until proven innocent rather than 'love believes all things', especially given the word 'convinced' appears in bold.. then in a training video one elder said something like 'unless we are convinced of repentance the shepherd the flock book says we must disfellowship'.
that was the begining of the end for me as i thought surely true christians would reason the other way round and show mercy wherever possible.. any thoughts?.

The coordinator's daughter was df'd for moving in with her non jw boyfriend, they got married and 3 weeks later she was reinstated.
In the same congregation at the same time a brother no relation to any of the elders was df'd for having an affair, after he married the girl he had to attend meetings for over 4 years before being reinstated......simply breathtaking.

Why cant Judicial Committees be taped?
by HereIgo ini have never understood this.
was it because of legal reasons?
i cant think of any other reason why it wouldn't be allowed, but i know the elders ask you repeatedly that you are not taping.

One of the reasons is mystical manipulation, most jdubs when questioned about shunning will tell you nobody who is repentant is ever df'd, and the elders only do it as a last resort after trying all they can to lead the sinner to repentance.
They have to believe that because it's the only way in their minds to justify such a cruel punishment.
Recordings of jc's would prove beyond a doubt that none of that is true and what an awful arrangement it actually is.
Well done stuckinarut, I applaud you.

Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

where have the demons gone?
by aboveusonlysky indoes anybody remember some of the sensational demon stories jw's would tell back in the day?
i was a kid in the early 80's and i remember a few times hearing of people having real life encounters with demons.
for example, one sister claimed that before she became a jdub she would regularly talk to demons and they would even fix stuff like her washing machine!

Well, what did Jesus do when the “ruler of the demons” spoke to him? (Matthew 9:34) He said: “Go away, Satan!”
As I recall it Jesus spoke to satan for a few minutes and only sent him on his way when the dude asked for worship, Jehovah in the book of Job let Satan interrupt his board meeting and even had a flutter with him over the eternal future of his favourite human.
Another example of botchtower nonsense......."hey brothers, we've made a rule and here's a scripture that kinda loosely fits what we're telling you to do in a round about way"

"Now that I'm an atheist, I never come across any spirits or strange unknown happenings, dam that rational analytical thinking "
Great point, I remember watching the omen when I was a teenager, I knew it was about the antichrist and was scared as hell that something bad would happen in our house, but my curiosity overpowered the fear (same as reading anti JW stuff now I think about it).
Surely willingly watching a film like that would be far more likely to attract one of beelzebubs minions than buying a rug from a car boot sale!
Demons limited to living in dressers....lol!....naughty demon, threw away immortality to play hide and seek...demons Inc.

One of our elders was really against pink Floyd because he said he knew someone who would receive a phone call from a friendly demon every time he played a certain song of theirs. Also I heard many stories about JW's having supernatural trouble because they had brought some 2nd hand demon infested item into their home, at the time it made no sense to me why witnesses loved charity shops so much!
Does anyone else remember such stories? The demons seem to have gone, maybe they got tired of having to fix broken washing machines.

Help Please - Finding It Hard Adjusting To The Real World
by pale.emperor inim asking for you guys help in a phase im going through right now.

There are some truly great posts in this thread people, very moving.
Pale.emperer I really feel for you dude, please try to think about what you have gained rather than what you've lost. This cult will always do it's best to take something from you, that's what they do after all but what you gain by being free is far better.
Since waking up I've lost some family, many friends and had some pretty horrible stuff said about me in the JW community. On the plus side though, me and my dear wife have just had our first child, something we were going to leave till paradise (it's just around the corner you know!) nothing compares to that man! Btw that's why I haven't been around for a while, the sleepless nights really do take their toll!
I'm over 10 years older than you, and sure I'd have loved to have done this earlier, but when I think what I have now compared to being trapped in a cult I can't stop smiling, this is real life afterall, not some illusion.
Make the most of what you have buddy, 31 is a brilliant age, even if you're starting over. All the best. Aboveusonlysky.
