Ghost World is well worth the $7.50 -- you'll love it. For those of us who feel like outsiders (by choice) in this world, it hits very close to home. The performances are perfect. I'll probably see it again, for it was very enjoyable. As I said, only Memento was a better film (so far this year) in my opinion.

last night, i found myself wondering aloud about something i never thought i would consider: purchasing a gun.
previously, i had very strong anti-gun sentiments.
i felt, and still do to some extent, that freely available guns in this country are an immediate threat to children and add to the violent perception others have of americans.
Conservatives aren't propagandized into anything.
With all due respect, it's hard not to ROFL at that. That is precisely what a JW would say if you told them that the WTS propagandizes them.
There may be some in this country who absolutely would like to ban guns; I've never met any of them. I have met many who would like some controls on guns, the way there is a control on who gets to drive a car. None of them want to ban guns.
I'm all in favor of rights, including the 2nd Amendment, even if it's not a right I would ever use myself. But to say that the conservatives don't propagandize this issue is laughable.

my friend was an atheist, but recently went to a "church camp" for four days.
now she's back, and she said she's a new person.
It was just an emotional response to a propaganda situation with a continuous and intensive message. As the emotions cool down, she may come to her senses again. If she is a logical person, and as time goes on and she see no evidence for her new belief, she may come to her senses again. Or it may just be that she has a need for religion in her life, in which case she would have begun to believe at some point anyway, and you may as well know it now.

He's a conservative. Conservatives have been propagandized into believing that the rest of the country is feverishly after their guns, and every discussion of the subject is code for this.
Liberals are also being propagandized in other directions. I only add that to defuse the knee-jerk response to the above paragraph that conservatives are bound to make.
arguments from natural theology are at times needed when christians defend the faith against atheological attacks.
yet, for the christian, such apologetic maneuvers are not required in and of themselves, for christians know that they are not in a relationship with a force or an abstract superlative entity devised by human adroitness.
no, christians heed the sensus divinitatis and the confirmatory evidence that god provides to those who love him.
I have always supported the right of a person to believe what they wish, and I'm respectful of a Christian's belief. It is only when they stray into evidentialism that I tend to speak up, for the evidence they tend to find hardly proves their point. It is faith they should embrace.

This view wouldn't have boded well during world war II, we'd all be speaking german and all be aryan.
It would have been just fine, for either the rest of the world would have felt like me (in which case, no war), or they wouldn't (in which case plenty of people would have been willing to kill). I would gladly take a non-combatant form of service, whatever the need may be. I will not kill. Period. Go ahead, take my life if need be. I won't change who I am.

No, was, I haven't changed, and I never will. I would rather die than own a gun. I know we live in a violent world. I will not let myself be influenced by that to want to use violence myself. Once I cross that line, my existence becomes meaningless for I will have lost my very persona.
Your mileage may vary, of course, and women are far more likely to be victims of violence. For that reason, I don't judge others, merely myself. But since you asked, that is my answer.

Um, no, actually it wasn't, not directly at any rate. For one thing, by the time I wrote my initial post in this thread, I had forgotten who wrote what. I wasn't aware again that you wrote anything until you posted this message. For another, I wasn't directing my complaint at any persons, but at behavior. If your behavior matched my complaint, then I guess I was directing my complaint at your behavior. However, I understand what you are saying, and I am no longer concerned. I made my point, it seems to have been received well, I am satisfied.
