  Rex,

  With all due respect, any time I see a thread from you with the words, "The real facts", a red flag goes up in my mind for I know the one thing we won't see are the real facts. If you read the article you linked to, you would have noticed this very early on:

  The author of the controversial Satanic Verses argued Islam was being hijacked by political fanatics and needed to have its own process of reformation.

  And the London-based writer said "paranoid Islam" was the quickest growing form of the religion and needed to be opposed in the Muslim world and the West.

  This isn't about Islam, as the title of your thread seems to indicate, and your past posts have stated. According to Rushdie, this is about a form of Islam that is made up of political fanatics and is the fastest growing form of Islam. Who does he say needs to oppose this? Right. The Muslim world. In other words, he appeals to Muslims to fight this form of Islam.

  To slander all of Islam this way would be like me noticing fundy Christians in action, and condemning all of Christianity for their political fanaticism. You would be very quick to step in and note the distinction, and would chide me for lumping all types of Christians together. In fact, you would state that those types aren't real Christians after all.

  Well, I'm chiding you for doing that to Islam. Read what Rushdie actually said, and then get the "real facts" right when creating posts and headlines.

  Watchtower hysteria

  i have been away from the organization for about 3yrs now.. what did it for me was that verse in psalms/proverbs, where it says: do not put your trust in nobles or the son of earthling man.. the watchtower officials are like nobles.

  they expect trust from you, with their multitude of rules for christian living.

  something they say is down to your conscience; yet punish you for exercising your conscience.they infact want you to exercise their conscience.. yes, i have doubts about these people!.

  In my previous post, I was testing the waters

  By lobbing a stink bomb into the middle of a group of people conversing with each other. As could be expected, your bomb caused a bit of a ruckus. You then get to stand back and smirk, thinking to yourself, "See, they get all excited by the least little thing."

  If instead you had introduced yourself the way you did in this thread, you would have gotten much less incendiery responses. That is also to be expected. One of the myths running around here is that you must have the same opinion as everyone else or else you will be blasted. That is not true. It's not what we believe, but how we express our beliefs that control the responses we get. If you have an opinion different from the majority, and you insist on shoving it down our throats, or insult us for thinking differently, or lie about our motives, we will get offended. If instead you have a different opinion, express it, but also respect the rights of others to have different opinions, you'll have no problems here.

  Since you began life on this board by instantly attacking the rest of us, you got a hot response. You can still join the crowd in peace, as long as you engage in conversation like the rest of us, instead of making verbal assaults.

  No incompete quotes; I merely moved on to your more recent mistakes. Yes, prior to this in our discussion I was talking about your empty assertions. More recently I have been talking about your incorrect assumptions, something you can't seem to figure out. For the record, in your last post, you did NOT make that incorrect assumption, though I have no doubt you still think it.

  You seem to be experiencing a psychological disorder wherein you can locate basic information, but you're incapable of validating it.

  On the contrary, I can validate it, and have done so, but not in the way you would have preferred I do. Therefore you respond by saying my thinking is messed up. Very good, when you can't respond with facts, respond with personal attacks.

  I threw the Russell-Rutherford thing in to bait you: You responded how I figured you would.

  You tried to change the subject, I stayed with the incorrect assumption you made, what, three messages in a row.

  Will you ever be capable of completing your own research and telling your own story. I think not! Look, I wish you luck in straining out your gnats and gulping down your camels, but I have other business to attend to. In other words, I don't have time to continue this verbal bantering with you and the others who seem so spiritually bound to the watchtower world in a sort of perverse, twisted way.

  It's the Watchtower way to make assertions and not back them up, and then when challenged to do so to attack the questioner. You have failed to learn your lessons. I, on the other hand, provide backup to what I assert here, unlike the Watchtower.

  Which one of us is still spiritually bound to the Watchower?...

  Well before any of you get carried away, saying I am supporting "a corrupt system". You had better look at the rafter in your own eyes, because nothing is more corrupt than governments that many of you evidently give support to.

  Once again, that is totally irrelevant. No matter how much corruption exists elsewhere, it doesn't change the fact that you support a religion that is corrupt and dishonest. You can't deflect that fact onto problems elsewhere. It's your system that is corrupt, regardless of what anyone else does.

  It's irrelevant what any of us do or say -- it's the Watchtower Society that is wrong. They are provably wrong. They are lying about things right this moment. You support a system that is corrupt and wrong.

  Nothing we do or say will change that fact.

  You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I keep saying that you are making the same "incorrect assumption" and you keep talking about "empty assertions." In fact, you once again made the same incorrect assumption in your latest response. It's no wonder you see conspiracies everywhere -- you can't even keep some basic facts straight in your mind.

  anybody see the new JW-commercial?

  on whtv upn 18 (channel 5) they aired the commercial put out by the congregation of jehovah's witnesses (12:38 am on monday night).

  it is only airing in the north east us.. a brother who saw the commercial last friday said it was really nicely done.

  it talks about family life and plays the kingdom songs in the background.. a telephone call to the society confirmed it was a trial, and it was a bonafide jw advertisement.. .

  WBBR was owned by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, so it wasn't "worldly media" it was "theocratic."

  LOL, yeah, I thought of that later. But remember how they used to do these coast-to-coast radio hookups? That was a lot more than just WBBR.

  Plus there was the Photo-Drama, shown in worldly theaters around the world.

  as i have been exploring the other posts, i have notice that there are a lot of rules in reguard to sex, especially oral sex and limited knowlege of foreplay.

  is this something that is just an oral (oops!

  there is that word again) tradition, or is it stated somewhere?

  Christina,

  He may not know, genuinely. Those are older articles, and they haven't said all that much about it recently. And, as I said, the current situation is tantamount to 'don't ask/don't tell.' My advice is to just keep on enjoying each other and don't ever bring the subject up to his JW friends.
