  A Concerned Elder Speaks

  a lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.

  many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.

  i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?

  Seeker4 here - I haven't posted for a year or two, but found this post interesting.

  I was an elder for many years, but left in the mid-1990s when the first 1914 generation change came through.

  I saw it then, and I think it's probably worse now, that the WTS loses its best and brightest. Clamping down on eduction is a surefire way of being left with the lowest level of leadership in the congregations and at Bethel.

  All the better, I say, though it is so hard on the brothers that they have to put up with this kind of idiocy.

  You dont believe in Jesus...What about prophecy and their fulfillments

  ok so i dont believe in the bible anymore, but i what about all the prophecies that were "fullfilled" by jesus and all of the other fulfilled prophesis of bible?.

  A good place to start is with Don't Know Much About the Bible. Written by a scholar for laymen, it spells out pretty clearly how the Bible was written - and the fact that the "prophecy" the WTS falls back on all the time to prove the Bible's divine source is anything but.

  i wonder if everyone here who has kept up with me since i left jw's realize why i have been coming on here.

  it certainly has been cool to know that some of my experiences and opinions have helped some.

  i hope they know that i have been equally helped by others.. i come here primarily for me.

  The Gradual Change From Worshiping Jehovah To The Worship Of the Governing Body

  i first began my misadventures with jehovah's witnesses in 1972 as a youth(18 years old) and was baptised in that same year.

  i was young inexperienced and they caught me at a low point when i was weak and looking for god to solve problems.

  being raised as a catholic and going to all the religious indoctrination up to the point of confirmation, i guess you could say i was indoctrinated from birth to believe a certain way which left me vulnerable to the jw propaganda.. fast foreword to the time of my departure in 2001 february.. for a couple of years (late 90s) before i left i started noticing out right lies in the wt publications about their history and the luster that these magazines used to have started to fade rapidly also around that time i really began to notice the gobs and gobs of praise they were bestowing on the organization and the representative members of the so called faithful & discrete slave(gb).

  I had a close friend, another JW elder when I was serving, who complained about this same sort of thing 15 years ago - all the emphasis on the GB - which is really what the FDS is.

  Yet, he's still in and shuns me, while I left a decade or more ago, fed up with the worship given to the organization. Early on in its history, what happened to Jehovah's Witnesses is what happens to all similar groups - the organization itself becomes more important than the reason the organization was created.

  Actually, I think it's kind of a silly question. Who would ever want to go back to that dysfunctional organization after learning the truth about it?

  Regret coming to know the truth about the Witnesses and the Bible? Not for an instant!

  The secret to not letting the X totally disable you is starting out a little more slowly than you might think. Then, ramp it up to full tilt AFTER your body is really used to that intensity. That takes a few weeks.

  Then you just feel incredible pushing it.

  Hey, danielp - glad to hear you're still with the.X.

  Lori and I got the X in Oct. 2007. Did the 90 Days, and it worked fantastic. In 2008, after seeing our photos on a P-90X discussion board, the company got in touch with us and asked us to submit photos for possible inclusion in their P-9OX The Proof infomercials. They change those on a regular basis, so I don't know if we got into one of them or not. I don't watch them all!

  I'm getting back into the X again - though I've been using it off and on since last year.

  I have a friend, former career Special Forces soldier and now a personal trainer. He LOVES the X and has created his own version for the gym where he teaches.

  The X works.

  just trying to see what the majority on here prefer and why.. going to be having some friends over in a few weeks and trying to decide what to go with this time.. i'm more of a seafood type myself.. i'm glad there's not a red lobster restaurant next door to me or i'd go broke from eating there all the time.. .
