People who are baptized but not associated for.ages may come to the Memorial and be welcomed but woe betide them if they visit again as questions will be.asked as to their lifestyle etc. Also it was quite a competitive spirit as to who had the most interested people/studies attending. Some of the outlines are very graphic in describing what happened to Jesus. Totally unsuitable for children. This year's event could be a super spreader! Perhaps partakers could have portions wrapped like plane food and somebody could walk up the aisle with a tray similar to.what used to be carried in cinemas for ice.cream.

So what did the circuit overseers do during lockdown?
by ozziepost inso reading that the dubs are going back to their kingdumb halls got me thinking, i guess they haven’t been getting their regular inspections from thier circuit overseers.
if they haven’t had their meetings, the inspectors couldn’t visit - or did they?
i’m intrigued.

Watchtower says you can be Disfellowshiped for being Fat!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1974 p.167 "by disobediently over indulging in food and making a glutton of himself he shows no love for jehovah..in the presents of others does he ignore their needs and selfishly take more then his fair share?
is he grossly overweight gorging himself?
does he feel uncomfortable even getting sick...this person has no place in the congregation of god...they will not inherit gods kingdom.".

Is this not an eating disorder which is a mental health condition? Wow betide anyone that ends up fat. An eating disorder and skinny is usually fine. A clever, funny, kind fat pioneer is just a fat person.

What are some of the weird teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, past and present?
by Vanderhoven7 ini just picked up a few from mark jones as follows:.
i see is that the vast majority of jws don't seem to understand what their religion actually teaches.. the more controversial or embarrassing doctrine - although still official doctrine that has never been rescinded - is just not talked about anymore in the magazines.

Going back to when it was said that each creative day was.7 thousand years long. I remember being quite young and realising there was NO basis for this belief. If only I had woken up then. It was really the basis of 1975. That thousand year reign would nicely finish off the Sabbath day after 6000 years of human existence. Don't think the teaching was rescinded, just casually.replaced. Anyone know.when?

"New !ight" at Annual Meeting
by surprised2bhere inso i have watched jackson's spiel several times since it was released last autumn.
(thank you lloyd.
) john 5:28,29. and it appears to boil down to the fact that they cannot recognise which tense it was written in until now.

So I have watched Jackson's spiel several times since it was released last autumn. (Thank you Lloyd.) John 5:28,29. And it appears to boil down to the fact that they cannot recognise which tense it was written in until now. Oh my goodness. Have heard PIMIs say it will be clearer when they do a Watchtower article on it. Words fail me really. Mind you all the different mentions of resurrection don't make sense under Watchtower doctrime. As for being pencilled in that's a classic . Can we say that about our baptisms? That it was only provisional until we saw how things worked out?

Annual service report - yet another analysis - big trouble for the WTS
by FFGhost inthere's already been a couple of threads on the 2021 report with insightful comments, but i'm vain enough to want to start my own topic with some additional thoughts..... as others on the other thread noted, it's useful to compare the 2021 numbers not only to 2020 but also 2019 (the last non-pandemic report).. there are some really troubling (if you're a wt headquarters guy) news in the latest report.. 1) baptisms plummet.
2021 - 171,393. baptisms dropped 20% in 2020, and 30% more in 2021. the total drop from 2019 to 2021 is an amazing 44%.. one could argue that without in-person assemblies and conventions you'd expect baptisms to drop.
but....if someone really wants to get baptized, jws will find a way.

Quite often kids will say they don't want to go to ministry/meetings and the parents will say they are too young to make that decision. Often an age is set for when they can decide for themselves. This has tended to be sixteen . That should give us a clue they are also too young to be baptized. My unbelieving dad said 18 for baptism and first call ministry. Our brains aren't developed till about 25. Sure!y 'Jehovah' would know that!

I like the answer to any enquiries about not having MISSED any meetings! So true!
I think back about people who left the organisation over the years and wonder which ones had 'woken up'. Probably a high proportion. I am remembering 4 Watchtower study conductors that have served in different congregations I have been in.
Having to learn how to 'do' Christmas. Started small. Left shopping for food a bit late! But it was fun. And when people in the street say Merry Christmas - can say it back. Can see it for what it is - a family time to light up the dark momths. Loads of JWs cook turkey and have guests over etc. and want the days off work so that people who are trying to celebrate have to work.
Happy New Year to everyone.

Commenting Ban?
by Iamallcool indo you think the watchtower will ban commenting at the meetings one day?
if you are pimo, you might want to try to make some comments to make others think about the “truth”!

I remember David Carter rolling up his trouser legs and jogging through the village we were working to entertain us. Apparently he was literally sick with nerves every morning. I worked with his wife Pauline once. She knocked on the door and then managed to upend her ministry bag spilling everything on the doorstep. It made me feel so much better. Usually visiting whatnots were so slick it was very off putting.

puctuality..
by zachias ina small incident happened to me today that has triggered me to say this.. how many of you have seen that jw are fairly hopeless and being anywhere on time.. an obvious one is the families that never miss a meeting and never miss arriving late with resultant fuss.
.
but in day to day things as well.arriving late for a paid job.. leaving early, ditto.. not turning up for a bbq without even a phone call.. being in all things disorganized.. and, how many of you have seen the above become the norm in people once they become jw that were not that way before....

When the book study was at my home one largish family always showed up late with much rustling of carrier bags. So after the study one time the group conductor asked if everyone was OK with the time set for the meeting or would like it changed. The mother of said family put her hand up and asked if it could be earlier. Look on the brother's face was priceless.

Hi everyone. This is my first post after a few months lurking. I only woke up this year after a lifetime of JW life. Was a born in. Mum was a faithful genuine sister. Brought up all my kids to be stalwart JWs. However the youngest always had doubts and she started talking to me about CSA scandal. I didn't realise the scale of it and that the rot was on an organisational level. When I say Geoffrey Jackson in ARC was horrified and knew pretty much then that it is not God's organisation. So as they say went down the rabbit hole. Once the blinkers are taken off the Bible is full of cruelty and the whole teachings of Watchtower are bizarre. Feel a total idiot for being taken in and for so long.
So started a fade. Never had camera on with Zoom meetings anyway so just gradually cut down attendance. Had already decided not to do letter writing as felt wrong to send out letters with no name on. And did not like the fact that WT was calling it a personal ministry presumably to keep themselves clear of it. Also all those years in UK when sick and elderly etc not allowed to write letters. So now just inactive. (You may applaud).
Covid has meant we weren't seeing people anyway. I think some of my kids were shunning me for looking after the youngest in difficult times. I did a good job of bringing them up as JWs but wish had concentrated on other things now.
Have torn up 'blood card' and we have tinsel. Think I am probably an atheist. Its disturbing how can be an person in the cong for so long - did some aux and reg pioneering, bit of need greating when young, hosted book study, hospitable, always pre studied and participated in meetings, been used on circuit and district assemblies. Always tried my best through the good times and bad. Then no one really notices when you are fading away. If Jehovah was up there and me leaving was a dangerous thing to do then he hasn't tried very hard to save me.
Will now try to keep posting on here and perhaps make some friends. And I am surprised2bhere.
Thanks for all your input on these pages. It all helps.
