  How will the Watchtower Cult end?

  Well , +I don't think either the Watchtower will end, as others that existed before, because as long there is lack of information amongst people, religions spread if we take into account history and current statistics . The more technologically / information based a society is , the less % of persons believe in religions, basically.

  I don't think Watchtower will be able to morph into mainstream anymore as any other but instead try to more around in the world to prey on the LESS information based society's. At some point I imagine they will be a small group regarded somewhat odd and stuck in time by people around them. How they will pass from big now to small after I don't know if just falling in numbers evenly with the years or by some blow in the finances like taxing them or something else. Ofc the Corporation will too try to predict they're end as to avoid it.

  Either way I think will not end per se , but end as we now it as in relevant surely.

  i mentioned this in a previous post, i feel the current gb truly believe they are chosen by god and are indoctrinated just as much as the rank and file.

  they are deluded in their belief that they are guardians of the doctrine.

  they are suffering from cognitive dissonance just as much.

  "Governing body" pfff . 7 wolfs in sheep cloth that irradiate ignorance and cant even keep up with the economic excel sheets are all BUT governing anything.

  Personally , I think that people that lie , omit evidence , deceit, order FALSE statements to be mass printed, orders bible changes to support they doctrine ,shows disrespect for children when providing directives and don't concerns about anything that is not the perpetuation of they're life style CANNOT "truly believe they are chosen by god and are indoctrinated just as much as the rank and file" AT ALL.

  We are not talking of isolated people tribes in Africa.

  These people have the means to analyse FACTS and react to them in the decisions they make that have consequences to MILLIONS of people around the world.

  I think they are the true definition of what the society calls "bad apples" , the ones that came to be , because of EXPLOITING the lack of knowledge of others less fortunate that themsefs. I despise profoundly those kind of people, that I respect less than my cat.

  Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?

  recent developments make me think they might be.

  the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.

  one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

  Religions generally speaking are losing believers at high rate don't matter what religion it is.

  Watchtower scam only partakes of this formula at the moment.

  As long as there is money flowing from society-religions may they be donations OR taxes redirected for the religions it will be hard to crack this nut. Good news is this is not a SACRED nut and I believe it WILL be cracked.

  Are JW's allowed to have close non JW friends?

  i am a non-participating christian who is fully respectful of but never had anything to do with jw.. i have a jw friend who seems to closely follow his jw belief's.

  i have met most of his family and friends who all are also jw's.

  he says i am his only non-jw good friend.. he is getting married this year to his long time gf and with our recent growing more guarded and distant friendship, i am wondering what is going on?.

  Depends on the individual tenacity I guess. They don't encourage it, disapprove it , but if you choose to do so and have a GOOD preparation, there is NOTHING they can do apart of nagging the JW witness to drop the friendship.

  just a quick note

  "Your friend won't be able to get married in the kingdom hall if he has any "worldly" people in the wedding"

  This is not completely true as my 2 sisters were married in the K.H. where the assemblies were made at that time , and I was the best man , was present , visible and was greeted by all. OFC they said to my sisters to try and go around me , but when people want the same thing , WHAT CAN DO A IGNORANT COPORATION AGAINST THEM?

  Hello, I'm new here too!

  hi everybody, 1st post here.

  20 years jw, elder for 6 years, regular pioneer for 3 years, have always been following the 2012 candace conti abuse case with much interest, especially since the case suddenly disappeared from www.watchtower.com's news section (thanks brother j. r. brown, office of public information, because it led me to "worldly" websites for more info), leading to more and more dissatisfaction , leading to jwfacts, jwsurvey, ad1914, wtdocuments etc., leading to my awakening about 4 months ago, now fading faster and faster to zero meetings and zero field service...and you know what?

  it feels good!.

  Hello, this is my first post

  hello, this is my first post, i would like to introduce myself and say thank you to every one on this forum, you have been a lifeline to me these last few years.. i had been a jw for 30 years when i walked away a few years ago disgusted by the treatment victims of child abuse, domestic abuse and rape receive from the wtbts.. at first i thought it was a local problem, elders personal opinions, the way they handled the situations, imperfect men etc., until i checked out jehovahs witnesses and child abuse/domestic abuse online.

  that's when i realized they had the same modus operandi worldwide.

  that led me here, tbuo this forum, and then to crisis of conscience, jw facts, watchtower documents, jw survey, old watchtower literature and cd s, reading a couple of steve hassans books, and more recently exiting the jw cult.. the feelings of shock, betrayal, anger at the wtbts, angry with myself for being so gullible, depression, reflection, loneliness, have taken their toll.

  Two JDubs just knocked on my door !

  the exclamation mark in the title above is because i was surprised, as i know that i am a "do not call", but this was what i presume were now two elders,(i have not been told their present status), so they reckon they are equipped to handle me, lol.

  it was a friendly chat, as i knew the guys for decades.. during the course of our chat i was able to lead them towards jwfacts.com, i did this by a circuitous route which i will not bore you with, but right at the end i said that bro russell had said no matter what the source of truth was, it was still truth.. i am hoping they do not fear going to the site, i also pointed out that paul grundy says if anything is wrong on his site, e-mail him and he will correct it.. i did get a couple of digs in, said the gb were now like rock stars, one guy said "i don't think they would like you calling them that", so i said " o.k, tv evangelists then".

  he had no reply to that barb !.

  The Catholic religion came to be adopted by the masses NOT by option but exactly by committing barbarous acts against innocent people as most religions

  The Catholic Religion was in favour of recent military incursions in which barbarous acts against innocent people were committed under the "war on terror" "democracy" or "greedy bastards that want to be more rich"

  To me , all religions that came to my attention are and do the same, for they do not demand humans but DRONES

  JW witness bash Catholics most maybe because they know deep down that they descend from them and want to be apart from them. Christianity

  i joined the blog a few weeks ago.

  i dated a divorced jw (jw from birth) for a couple of years recently.

  Although it may sound right, mass exodus wouldn't work because in my opinion people believe what they want to believe not the truth, so would be hard to "impose" truth (even if REAL truth) upon those that REFUSE it or are not ready to leave. If enforced , most people , out of fear /solitude or whatever would just join another cult.

  Regarding uniting all sites under one only or even under a "leader" would be the quickest way to dismantle this whole effort , since these types of organizations are easily corrupted, and soon , you find that the "leader" is changing his tune / trying to impose "his" truth, etc. Could be otherwise , I doubt it .

  For me , way things are going is the way to go. The more sites exposing the truth , more INDEPENDENT vehicle's of information exist.

  Although I have profound respect for you for having researched in to these issues in order to have an informed opinion , and because you are here proposing solutions, I disagree that "we" don't do anything" , based on the "1000 s" sites and content available today, that did NOT exist when I needed.

  The first step is informing ppl , what many are doing today , but surely more can be done to pressure government to END TAX EXCEPTION for ex.

  Kudos for proposing solutions , for is what we can do all

  I have doubts... can you help me??- A new idea

  i have been perplexed as to how to brung my wife out of jws and to exit the religion... but i had an idea last night.

  i know that elders will legitimantly meet with brothers who have doubts and encourage them... not df them .. this is a sheperding call etc.. thus since my wife knows i have doubt s i could say: i want to have two brother over to discuss this ... she will agree.... of course i will hit these guys with biblical textual issues, an biology to where they are stunned and still ask... "so brothers... can you solve this conflict...?".

  in this case they will not think of me as an apostate but may question their own beliefs... .

  As others have already said this is a game that can have many outcomes depending on your preparation / the elders preparation, but I can guarantee one thing - they wont say you are right.

  IF they see you with FOUNDED doubts, and notes, they may change the tune to DF you on the next min and "invite you " for a further meeting in the KH.

  IF they see you without founded doubts or notes , they will BS theyre "truth" away, you will become "dangerous" within the org, and a process is internally initiated ( this is a corporation), that either ends with you asking forgiveness and being a "GOOD" witness or DF

  Ive seen it over and over again.

  When I called someone at my house to talk , I had the end of the conversation already in mind, regardless of what they could say, and that worked fine to me .Hope it helps
