yesterday, i was feeling very blue.
this is quite unusual for me, as i tend to be quite an upbeat, positive person, so spells of sadness or depression take me by surprise and are a real shock to the system.
you know, i don’t believe in “putting on a face” or pretending to be ok; this “fake it ’til you make it” malarkey has never been something i’ve liked.
I'm glad you have a passion for singing, its a great mood lifter and I love hearing a beautiful voice. My favorite music to listen to is female vocal trance. While that might not sound like a good choice for someone who appreciates great singing, there are actually some very talented singers in that genre of music and many of the songs have a lot of emotion in them.
My passion personally is old cars and motorcycles, hot rods, and 50's and 60's style and culture. I have a 1964 Chevy Impala which is my car I drive every day, I've had it since I was 17, and a 1955 Chevy pickup. I restored both cars myself. I have rebuilt and customized three 60's style motorcycles, one I kept, one for a friend, and one I sold. It's kinda like creating art that can take you places.
Anytime I'm feeling really down and out I can get in my car or on my bike and just drive for a while. It always makes me feel at least a little better :)
lets say you are able to go back in time to the first man( their belief adam) 7000 years.. now you are magically transporter back to adam time with the knowledge you have from.
todays world..would you make life a little easier for you and your family???
you may move.
I've always wanted to live a primitive lifestyle on a south pacific island, just live in a hut and fish and grow some fruit and vegetables to eat, and I might just do it in the next ten years.
That being said, I still want to be able to buy clothes and snorkeling gear, maybe a kayak, and get food essentials like rice and bread to supplement what I can fish and grow myself. And I wouldn't want to do that indefinitely, maybe for 2-3 years.
The Paradise idea sounds good on paper but in reality it would be living like an African or South American tribe with no modern convenience at all, and no hunting for food.
Even for essentials, you would have to grow all your own food because nobody is gonna grow it to sell, and even if they did, there would be no money. You could barter but then you would have to make something of value or work for someone else, which would eventually just evolve into a monitary system again like we have now lol.
Everyone would just end up working all the time like right now, except you wouldn't be able to get in your car and go get an ice cream cone. You would have to milk the cow, get ice somehow, then make the ice cream. It would take all day just for something that simple, not to mention clothes, furniture, eating utensils, making fire, storing food without ice, (no beef jerky) transportation, clean water, waste management, the list goes on.
No jws think about all this because they all know subconsciously that its just a 'someday' pipe dream that will never come, but makes them feel special and a little bit better about their mortality.
if all life was truly random, then what happened that allowed humans to it's current intelligent state, do you think non humans could and will reach that in the future?
.
Great video Heaven, thanks for that!
It reminds me of a chocate lab I had growing up. Best, smartest dog I ever had. He used to get ahold of empty plastic soda bottles and chew on them until he made a hole, then drink the little bit of soda that was left. One day I took a bottle he had and had him watch while I screwed the cap off and on a few times, then I gave it back. He immediately put the bottle under his paw and screwed the cap off with his teeth. After that every time he got a bottle he took the cap off to drink the leftover soda.
He also loved fireworks. Whenever I got some around the 4th of July he got really excited. I think he could smell them and knew that smell meant fun lol. He would stand by me while lighting a fuse and as soon as it lit he would run off a little ways before I even moved. Then when it went off he would run around it barking. He knew exactly what they were and (basically) how they worked.
I think a lot of animals are smarter that we give them credit for.
all this talk about trolley witnessing made me think- our hall has at least two of them, maybe 3. and i have never seen them used.
they just collect dust in the closet.
it's not for lack of somewhere to use them; we have territory spanning several cities, we have plenty of summer fairs/fests, but nobody will take them out.
I'm totally out of the JW loop in my area in Montana (yay me!) But I have yet to see a cart in person. I live right in town and am around town in prime locations on a regular basis so I think I should have seen one by now. Maybe they haven't employed that method here yet?
My city is roughly 70,000 people.
to briefly state this: we were hardcore jws, my siblings, my wife and her two sisters.
we have 18 nieces and nephews among us from late 20's to 55. only one is a card-carrying, practicing jw and he's had his problems.. what's hilarious, is that most of the 18 in the next generation would still identify themselves as jws to the rest of the family, but all are leading double lives extraordinaire, doing exactly what they want to do.
most would be honest with me and have been.
I used to do the double life thing pretty hard in my late teens and early 20s, its what led to my unintentional fade together with my ex-wife. Plenty of drinking, smoking, weed, (no heroin, no way) I was known as bad association by all the other teenagers/early 20s though lol. In my early through mid teens I just kept waiting to "grow up" and start liking meetings and service and actually wanting to do it. That never happened and well, here I am lol
having not had a witness knock on my door since i left over 13 years ago i was surprised a few sunday mornings ago to find two young sisters who i had not seen before at my door.
it was not long before their husbands who were witnessing at my neighbors joined the conversation.
the conversation went on for some time so i am keeping the experience as brief as i can.. mind you with all what has been happening lately with the australian royal commission here in australia i had been looking forward to having a discussion with any witness who comes within earshot.
That's perfect! You described the shunning video! I wonder what they will think or if they will even put 2 + 2 together when they see it?
Classic example of how their own propaganda can be used against them and how they go along with something they would normally be against because of groupthink.
does anyone have an explanation about why the silver sword edition of the nwt removed god's name at exodus 34:14?
that verse is now different than the 1984 and 1970 versions of the nwt.
odd for an organization who believes that "god's name is of the utmost importance" as it says on page 195 of the bible teach book..
I see, good points. I looked up 1st Co. 13:4 and I see most translations use "envy" and a couple use "jealous".
It just lends more to the fact that the Bible is just a very old book, and its translation and interpretation is up for grabs, and I agree that the WT takes full advantage of that to "puree" as you say, the message to benefit themselves.

I'm not sure if it says he is "jealous" in any other part of the bible, but part of their reason for changing the wording could have been to lessen the HUGE contradiction that is: Love does not get jealous, so if god is love, how can he be a jealous god? i think the way they worded it is an attempt to erase that contradiction, probably among other reasons.
so if the idea is promoted that god doesn't want anyone to be destroyed, why does he make it so confusing for people to learn about him?.
why are there thousands of differing religions?.
why has "his only true organisation" even taught so many varying doctrines?.
Great points! Also, why does the bible say god hardens peoples hearts, like Pharaoh, which ultimately led to his army's, and possibly his own death in the red sea?
