For how long I've been out of the org (over 10 years). It never dawned on me till about a year ago when I stumbled across this. I didnt even fully understand what it ment to be a apostate.

Facial Hair
by new boy insince i have been out for seventeen years what is the currant society policy concerning beards and mustaches.. in the sixties and seventies facial hair was forbidden at bethel if you white.
if you were black you could have mustache but no beards.
so obviously you could not be elder or pioneer if you had a beard.. any updates?

From my understanding in the USA beards are not so big of a deal anymore if you're unbaptized(I think that's what I was told). The stance was back in biblical times being clean shaved was a sign of wealth so it was common to see beards. Pretty much what finklestien said.

I'm not calling myself a atheist I consider myself more agnostic. But the bad taste in my mouth started at a young age. Growing up I had very abusive mother (I come from a single family home) and she has been disfellowshipped more times than any other JW I knew who had been. Im just curious if anyone else in the forums search for TTATT started because there parents. When I switched high schools I met this girl at my new high school who knew these witness kids I knew. Turned out she was a lesbian/witness. I remember after meeting her brother and he briefy mentioned "I heard my sister is a lesbian" and I just kinda shrugged it off and told him I didn't know her very well to know that. She always used to talk crap about me for some reason. The witness girl girlfriend and I actually became friends.

Anyone think Assemblies will stop?
by blownaway innot completely but the expensive renting of halls or assembly hall ownership.
maybe with streaming they could have assemblies at the kh and stream the program.
i bet they cut costs in a lot of ways.

There's convention halls built specifically for the witnesses. So I could see streaming but also still having people meet who can afford it. -

Born ins: did you have "near life experiences"?
by truthseeker ini recently watched the 90s movie fight club for the first time and heard the phrase "near life experience.".
for me, a different definition of this phrase would be someone who grew up in the truth and led a very secluded and restricted life (like me) but on rare occasions actually experienced something that was considered quite normal by most people.. growing up in "the troof" was depressing.
it was characterized by long periods of loneliness.

My family used to vacation twice a year to mexico. They still go but I haven't been in awhile. The first time I ordered alcohol at a bar I was probably 12-13. Also I used to go to alot of concerts.

I'm pretty sure I posted this is the joke section but let's act like I'm serious for a few seconds. Never heard of the film "Hero". But popular opinion is our future will be either Mad Max or Star Trek and we're at that fork now in our existence.. I personally hope we will start seeing real super heros emerge. I don't see x-men coming, maybe Elon Musk is working on a Iron Man suit. Batman started out as a rich kid also. Maybe if his parents didn't die he would have become a politician instead..
