Pyramid - Common Knowledge?
by NeverKnew ini was telling my extended family (also non-jws) about the pyramid near russell's grave i saw months ago.
i showed them pictures of the four sides and the interesting inscriptions along with the pictures of the founder's grave.. there are a couple of jw women who come to see my cousin every once in a while.
last week, she mentioned the pyramid.

There are a couple of JW women who come to see my cousin every once in a while. Last week, she mentioned the pyramid. She says they looked her straight in the eye and said, "that has nothing to do with us."
I asked her for clarification on the statement... were they saying the pyramid belonged to another wack religious denomination?... or were they saying that the JWs no longer have anything to do with the pyramid theories. She said the coldness with which they returned the answer has her concerned about re-inquiring.
Wouldn't the existence of the pyramid and its ties to the WTBTS be common knowledge amongst JWs?

Those of you who feel slighted... maybe you can e-mail the webmasters about having your names included? *sigh*

Does God really have a personal name?
by XPeterX inthe bible says that the personal name of god is jehovah/yahweh/jah etc.thing is,we don't know it's correct pronounciation (or the pronounciation of any hebrew name).the name jehovah as we know it today means "he causes to become".someone who causes something to become is just called "creator" or "maker".right?he gave that name to his self so that people or the angels could call him by a name.also, how was he called before the creation of the anything?how can some people claim to be his friends if they don't know his actual name?discuss.

Read this somewhere and copied it to my notes:
How did Jesus address YHWH?
Matthew 6:9
Matthew 11:25 Matthew 26:39-42 Mark 14:36 Luke 10:21 Luke 22:42 Luke 23:34 Romans 8:15 Galations 4:6
Jesus did not address him by his first name. Simple as that... If using a first name was a condition that had to be met for salvation, why wouldn't "Jehovah" tell Jesus to tell us that? How reliable is Jesus' information if He forgot both to tell us AND use His Father's name? -

Amen.

memorial attendance
by drawcad_1 ini just looked at the september issue of the km and they are proud to admit that the attendance in the united states for the memorial, on march 26, was 2,504,114 for 2013. that is about 2,000 more than last year.
looks like things are slowing down rapidly.
i know that there was not a big increase last year from the year before and it was speculated that it was becuase it was on a weekday.

Makes me so proud.
My wife must have placed at least 200 of those invitations and I must have thrown away about 50. It was hard trying to keep up with her.
OMG, you're hilarious! First laugh of the day.... Thanks!!!

Newly wed UBM and soon to meet JW in-laws
by UBM101 ini have been lurking here for a couple of years.
my hubby (inactive & some doubts) and i were just married and i'll be going to his place to meet his family (pretty much dubs).
they seem to be friendly and excited to meet me, and i kind of had agreed to attend the kingdumb hall meeting once (in my life time, yep, that's the agreement) and also meeting an elder who brain-washed my hubby during his teen.

Ah, welcome to my world, UBM101!!!! In our sisterhood...
If you're in love with him? I'll totally support your decision.
If you are angry with him? I'll totally support your feelings.
If you divorce him for irreconcilable differences? I'll totally support your decision.
If you decide to go homicidal... I'll uh... pm you for your phone number after I buy my prepaid using cash and a fake name... okay? *ahem*
Being a non-jw, you know what a "normal" family looks like. We love each other, we disagree, we fuss, then we meet again for the next holiday! In this JW world, problems are whispered, disagreements are contained, but the fractures are deep. The warmth... you'll want it to feel sincere but please do not get your wants mixed up with reality.
There seems to be a political hierarchal order that you have to mind so be an observer until you figure out who is who. Know that there are some that he may be intimidated by... If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I'd have called it a lie but look for "adjustments" in his personality when he talks with the other men. You'll know who he is required to honor for some will be given more reverence than others. OH, and the language... there may be a language change. I don't want to turn stomachs, but I know my bf is entering another personality zone when I hear the word "appreciate" a little too much. If your husband doesn't sound like he typically does with you, he may be entering a different personality. It's not comfortable... suck it up - it'll pass. JGnat has years of experience with calmly pulling her husband back into a natural state. It may be necessary... may not be. I guess it depends on where his head is.
On discussions with respect to religion, I define myself to them as denominationally unaffiliated. My intentions were to remove the liability of a defined faith. The unintended result was that I have become a religious Switzerland. If I had any recommendation for you in this regard? I'd say claim faith but not a denomination and bail from the conversation. They train every week for these discussions - you don't.
I don't know how many churches you have been to, but I'm sure the focus was on God - not on faith-bashing other denominations. UBM, at their services?... they are told that ALL other Christian denominations are led by Satan and that the adherents are not true Christians - EVERY SINGLE SERVICE. As an outsider and observer, I'd say more than 75% of their time at the service is spent discussing everyone else's wrongness and the rightness of the adherents of the WTS. They will smile nicely if you speak of your faith but you will see the glazed smile. They are not listening.
Okay, gotta get some sleep, but a sincere welcome to THIS family and congratulations!
We await the findings. :)

Do you think "Blondie" is addicted to reading Watchtowers and Awakes?
by booker-t ini remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

I love her insight! It's helpful for the non-jw who doesn't have access to the materials.
