The Watchtower and the Masons

the latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.

* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.

* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

Sorry! Was away and failed to return to this thread.

I went over to the Recorder of Deeds Offfice to look at the history of ownership of the Mason property and cemetary where Charles Taze Russell was buried (pyramid). I have the old deeds showing the transfers.

The Watchtower TO THIS DAY controls a small plot of land in the NORTHEAST section of the Mason property. The pyramid and grave of Russell? Yeah... they're located SOUTHWEST of the buildng.

Of even more interest, there is a plot of land on the Recorder's map that is marked "unassessed property" that appears to fit the dimensions described in the Deed. I'm told that unassessed could mean a burial site. If I had read the deed before I left the office I would have seen the connection and would have gotten a copy of the property picture.

I now know how to post pictures so I'll scan both deeds this evening for everyone's review. The only thing left to retrieve is the picture.

I still think it's hilarious that the Watchtower owns a small plot of land (130 ft x 135 ft) on the Masonic Temple's property in Pgh.

Oh, and this land is mysteriously nowhere NEAR the pyramid. It's on the other side of the building that was built in the late 90's

And sorry, not a consipiracy. I have a copy of the deed.

How do I disprove "New Light"?

i currently am a jw and my parents are too.they seem either confused or dislike it when i raise questions and recently, when i questioned them about 1925 and 1975, i've been told it's changed due to "new light.

" i don't remember nor do i have very much knowledge of "new light.".

this "new light" just dosen't sit with me and neither do the false prophecies.new light first of all, breaks a scripture in deut.

So, play out this event:

(don't forget - I get more leeway because of my "one-of-those-stupid-other-type-of-Christians" status)

Me: "So, now that the F&DS is the Governing Body, what will the organization do with the current literature that states otherwise?"

JW: "HUH? That's not true. The F&DS are the annointed."

Me: "Oh, you must not have gotten the announcement yet." looking away in a total "why am I even bothering talking to you" mode. But coming back to ask, "So, what will the reaction be? I mean, surely they won't nicely smile and nod in agreement! Surely some will feel a little uncomfortable with this. Will it then mean that ALL the WT teachings were wrong since the message was through the wrong group?"

JW: "The F&DS are the annointed. Always has been."

I'm really hoping that the JW I spoke with is checking the literature.

What kind of conversation will this JW have with themselves when the new light is provided? Will I become a prophet when they watch the congregation nod in agreement?

the last month i was trying to get "closer" to my classmates and to the others from my highschool.

Will-be, as a female who has never been a JW, I haven't seen one piece of advice that will help you, Sweetheart.

Wow... let me go back to high school. I went to a large girls school that was attached to a large all-boys "brother school." I was a cheerleader/colorguard, finished Calculus in my Junior year of high school and scored near perfect on my Math SATs. I was smart and decent looking. Alcohol was boring to me (my friends looked and acted like barfoons when drunk and I chose not to make a fool of myself). You know who I looked for? The quiet ones. To me, they were the absolute sexiest mysteries. I didn't want to be involved with the popular boys because of the drama that came with them. Be yourself.

You know what else was sexy about the awkward ones? Their sincerity. Now THAT was sexy.

If you need to drink whey protein shakes to get someone to pay attention to you, they're not worth it. They're looking for something superficial. You don't want to pretend while you date, do you? That gets old REALLY quick.

My daughter who is now 21 used to go on a lot of group dates (movies, hanging out at malls). Possible for you?

.......but wouldn't she have to be prepared for the corruption of mankind speech?

I still want to know how it could be called "universal love" if I can only extend love to and expect love from one group only.

Heck, I can get auto-love from a college sorority sister or fraternity brother.

Personally, I'd rather stay neutral (like Switzerland) so that I can extend love to those inside AND outside of the organizations I belong to.

Can you ask him why they call it "universal love" if the love is exclusive to those who are JWs?

Wouldn't that be JW love?

What charity work do they do for others? Anything along the lines of Clothing/Feeding/Helping the Homeless?

Maybe I'm over my head here, but.... what are *we* doing with Hebrews 8:8-13?

These verses do not address feeling another man up, but with respect to the covenants, they seem pretty comprehensive to me. Moving through to Chapter 9 - uh... no mention of feeling men up there either. Maybe that's part of that old covenant.
