Ok, Jesus refers to God as his father. Jesus also refers to himself as God saying they are one. John 14 Can I have some other opinions on this. I view them as a triunity. 2 beings with the holy spirit as the power shared by both, both ruling in the kingdom. Now Jesus as ruling as God until he hands the kingdom back over to his Father. I invite all other views, of all other religions please!!!

The JW religion or the person, whose fault is it?
by larc ini just read the tragic story of the man in chicago who beat his daughter to death.
i have read stories here and on silentlambs about sexual abuse.. my question is: how much fault can be placed on the religion and how much on the perversions of a particular individual?
i frankly don't know the answer to this question.

This is a very interesting thread and I thank all for sharing this. Shrinks would not agree with the religions today that have such high demand on their people. Some religions are even incorporating war as a God given right. This in itself would cause hatetred. Some people believe that no matter what they do, as a result of their religious beliefs, will be forgiven as long as they ask for it. Thus doing the same thing over and over again thinking they will just be forgiven. Some believe that not studying the bible will save them from ever knowing what God doesn't want them doing thus making him have to forgive him. So it does boil down to religion. I'm not singling out JWs here. I'm also giving you all the credit of having intelligence to figure out what religions I'm talking about. A psychologist told me once that it is all in the mind, what that individual believes. This indicates religious upbringing, whether its what a person was raised as or what a person believes. Many can be in a good religion but believe their own beliefs even contrary to what their chosen religion teaches.

It gave me hope that there is a God and that Jesus was and is a very good being. I was borderline atheist and thought Jesus was just an evangelist when I started to study. The JWs gave me new hope. I was also able to deal with the fact that the wicked just die, there is no more torment. I didn't even want to worship a God that after a hard life he would then torment people in a demonic hell. So I have alot to thank them for.
And if you think about it, all friends are conditional to some extent. JWs are just the extreme end of it.

active and happy jw
by scumgrief ini am an active jw and was raised as one.
i have been watching the site for a while and thought it could benefit from the opinions of someone who is happily a member of the jw's.
i will not get into any argumets that lead to nothing except name calling, and will not talk with anyone who is just plain mean (plenty of them in here).

I have noticed that 95% of JW women that I have met are on some kind of depression medication. Is there a connection here?

Should I send a letter to the CO?
by Sirona insome of you may remember that when i joined this forum i was having problems at home regarding the un issue.
everything appears to have settled down now and i promised my mum that i wouldnt mention it again to her.
however, looking back at the events around that time, i feel that the circuit overseer not only made it difficult for me, but also for my mother.

I agree with changing the wording to I know instead of I feel. If he is a sexist this will just piss him off. Women tend to put emotion into their words and men aren't like that. Reaching him on a manly level may move him more or respect you more.
If you don't put your name on it, he can't use it against you and you would be speaking for all who don't write that may have had the same experience. Your mom may be upset that you took action and without your name on it, she might even see it as someone wrote on your behalf instead of a personal dig.
Ask a professional businessman how he would complain about a business to get action. That could also benefit you.
I'm green at this and just throwing out ideas here. I don't intend for you to use all this advise. I'm sure you are an intelligent thinking individual and you have to do whatever helps you find closure in this. My prayers are with you. -

Scumgrief, would you like to direct me in study? I don't want the WT/awake or the society quoted, just the bible. And I do question alot. If the scripture doesn't set in the whole chapter what the topic of discussion is, then I question. Are you up for it? If so email me. I will not try to get you out of the religion, I am just needing guidance from someone like you. Please consider my request.

Since you are no longer attending the kingdom halls, do you really think he will listen/read your letter? Just send it without your name on it and then send a copy to his supervisor, and a copy to your elders, and so on and so on.........they would then question him too.

This was suppose to be viewed as a joke, come on, do any of the elders have PHDs in any of the mentioned fields like psychology and stuff, no, it was a joke. Besides that, if an elder gave this to you, then he considers you a friend. If you hate everything they do, say, joke about, or represent, then why are you still in the Org? What would that friend say to you if he found out you just make fun of him all the time? Hell, if it was me, and I saw that you made fun of me for everything I said and done, then you would be considered no better than the ones that made me want to quit in the first place. But I don't know you personally, and maybe that aint so bad.
