I remember around 2009, there was a scandal going on involving 2 families in my cong where the husband in one family was having an affair with the wife of the other family. This resulted in pregnancy and subsequent Disfellowshipping. What was interesting to me though was a comment made by a CO From the platform. His visit came maybe a few months after the scandal. He was giving a talk and mentioned the DF arrangement and said if you cheat on your spouse you will be DF for 7 years ( He might as well of called them out by name!) Although, I don't condone what they did, how is a man qualified to put a time limit on a person's repentance? How is he qualified to decide when someone is forgiven? After all, didn't Jehovah forgive David as soon as he confessed to killing Bathsheba's husband and committing adultery with her?

Feeling very lonely
by BlackWolf inthe past few months i've been feeling really depressed and kind of hopeless.
the few people that actually were a little bit friendly to me at the hall recently moved away, and i'm feeling like more of an outcast than i already was.
every meeting i just stand by myself by the wall and nobody cares, i feel really lonely and unloved.

@blackwolf, you don't sound whiney at all, we have all been there. In my opinion, it is probably a good thing that you don't speak to anyone at the hall, because when you do decide to fade, then there are additional relationships that you have to break ties with. But, I understand feeling like a loner. My advice is just try to get back to the things you like, such as riding horses. If they are rude to you be rude back. It will help to grow thick skin, after all the world definitely isn't nice. As far as the internet thing, there are programs that parents can use to monitor what sites you visit. If you are concerned about that, then try to use public wifi when you can. Just my suggestions, we are here to help!

@ding yes I think so too. I only had about 5 years invested and still young. As far as the generation teaching, an elder had told me that alot of jws have been leaving the truth over it. I already had doubts about it so little did he know, he helped my exit indirectly with that information.

@Ding, I began having doubts within a couple of years after i was baptized which was at age 16 but like most jw's I suppressed these thoughts. The clarification on the generation teaching was the beginning of the end for me in 2007, along with various hypocrisy and man-worship I have seen in the org. Not to mention their flip flops on predicting the end and their stance on blood and what can be accepted. I didnt completely leave until 2010 when i was about 22.

What steps did you take to free yourself from the cult? mentally or physically?
by HereIgo infirst i ignored all of the elders phone calls to send my recommendation letter to my new congregation, truth is i had already started my fade and moved across town and didn't have a new congregation.
i deleted all jw friends on facebook.
i also threw away all of my public talks recorded on cd, all literature, even my book bag and my bible.

I deleted all jw friends on facebook. I also threw away all of my public talks recorded on CD, all literature, even my book bag and my bible. I wish I had kept my bible as it was custom and signed by my jw family and so it had sentimental value, but i realized why keep it when they don't speak to me anyway? Technically im not DF or disaccociated I just left it all alone. I didnt want to give them the satisfaction. In hindsight, I think throwing everything away was a defense mechanism to free myself mentally and physically.

Secrecy?
by HereIgo inwere any of you shocked by the secrecy in the org?
i remember hearing that elders have to turn in their "flock" books if they resign, get deleted, etc, i didn't even know they had their own books and i was an ms. is the bible not enough?
i remember i asked one of the elders if i could see my publisher record, they refused to show me!

@smiddy exactly! as long as the bro meets qualifications in 1 timothy why is that not enough? I have heard of elders debating on whether or not they should appoint a bro who averages 9 hours...seriously you wont appoint him because he is an hour short of your 10 hour rule? unbelievable. Meanwhile, you have bro wifebeater who is an elder and is helping with the decision smh

Why cant Judicial Committees be taped?
by HereIgo ini have never understood this.
was it because of legal reasons?
i cant think of any other reason why it wouldn't be allowed, but i know the elders ask you repeatedly that you are not taping.

I have never understood this. Was it because of legal reasons? I cant think of any other reason why it wouldn't be allowed, but I know the Elders ask you repeatedly that you are not taping. Even cases in the court of law can sometimes be filmed or taped. What is the deal?

Ridiculous ways you kept your "time going" in service?
by HereIgo ini used to go out early mornings with 2 pioneer elders, we would drive 20 miles out of the territory (a big no-no) to look for hikers to preach to lol of course there were never any hikers.
then off to starbucks for another hour lol easy way to count 2-4 hours.
i am chuckling as i write this, what a joke!.

Blondie, very true, I knew about the sex lives of some in my cong at 19 years old! smh all because of a big mouth elder who loved to discuss other peoples lives
