How much time have you ever spent on Jw.org ?
by Chook ini'm proud to say no greater than ten minutes in my whole life.
and i'm not giving them any more.
i do look at the video posts on here with their latest bullshit but being entertained by these clowns longer than necessary is unproductive..

I never spent too much time on there, spent countless hours on the CD ROM library though.

"Even if this wasn't the truth, I would still stay. This is the best life to live..."
by HereIgo ini was recently told this by a jw family member when trying to get through to them.
does this quote indicate that maybe such ones have considered that the jw's may not have the truth after all?
or is that just my wishful thinking?

No, but seems like a great idea. Nothing wrong with some medical MJ.

Post Convention Euphoria
by Phoebe inthere is a plethora of convention photos on my instagram this morning.
(a lot of my jw friends have forgotten i'm on their followers list) .
smiling faces standing next to convention posters with comments like 'nope, i'm not giving up.

I used to feel the same after a convention. Especially when the brothers would use misleading and emotionally charged phrases toward the end of the day talks such as " friends we will meet again next year, God willing", implying that Armageddon was oh so close. That was almost a decade ago lol. JW's always get hyped after large assemblies filled their robot brains with lies and propaganda.

JW Parents and kicking out their children
by NJ501 inis it a common practice for jw parents to kick their children out of the home, if the child doesn't want to be a jw.
(even though their not disfellowshipped they will still get kicked out for not going to meetings etc.??).
do other religions encourage kicking family members out this as well?

The love from a JW parent is definitely conditional, with the exception of some parents and their personalities. I have known of parents that refuse to cut off contact with their DF or inactive children. Then, of course there are the parents who will shun their kids in a second if they need to. I think it depends on their personality and how brainwashed they are,

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

Yes I have seen this type of behavior from JW husbands, sharing social media accounts, email accounts etc. I have also seen it in a couple where someone cheated and there is a trust/insecurity issue.

Do You Ever Think Of ALL The Wasted Time Because You Were a JW?
by minimus inthe longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy.
we wasted so much because we were witnesses!
👎.

oh yes! Thankfully I only invested a solid 5 years and was still in my early 20's when I left. Still though, I wasted the prime of my youth when I could have pursued music, sports etc. Oh well, better late than never

Am I selfish?
by Jules Saturn intonight i had an argument with both my parents.
my parents are aware of my feelings towards the organization, and it saddens them because i am their first born son.
they had high expectations of me, my father dreamt of him and i serving together as elders.

Jules,
I have gone through the same exact situation, I feel your pain. In my opinion, you are not selfish at all and should not feel guilt. They are acting this way because they truly feel that you are heading down the wrong path to destruction and love you, but understand they have been conditioned to believe these things. I understand the frustration of you seeing the truth about the Org and them not wanting to hear it. Stay strong.

JW's are indeed extremists...
by HereIgo inthe current russia ban on jw's accusing them of extremism got me thinking.
at first, i disagreed, only because i am used to our constitutional rights here in the u.s. and feel that individuals should be able to practice whatever religion they prefer, even if i disagree with the teachings.
however, i started thinking of the ways that jw's are in fact extremists and perhaps should be banned.

The current Russia ban on JW's accusing them of extremism got me thinking. At first, I disagreed, only because I am used to our constitutional rights here in the U.S. and feel that individuals should be able to practice whatever religion they prefer, even if I disagree with the teachings. However, I started thinking of the ways that JW's are in fact extremists and perhaps should be banned. Of course, while an active JW, I never thought of their practices as extreme, but rather justified by scripture, I am sure most of us thought the same.
1. Your own family will allow you to die as a result of refusing a blood transfusion, even children. This is such a horrible practice it makes me sick that I even used to have the POA blood card in my wallet smh.
2. Absolutely no friends of contact with the world unless required such as the workplace. If this doesn't befit the definition of a cult, I don't know what would. Again, this is isn't something you think about too much as a JW, but it really is creepy to avoid association with honest, good people just because they don't go to a brown building 2-3 times a week like you do.
3. No further education. Despite the fact that JW's have been incorrect about the end of the world numerous times and indirectly held numerous JW's back from pursuing advanced education, I'm surprised witnesses continue to even follow this advice. It seems like the Org has softened their stance on this issue in recent times, but high secular education is still subliminally discouraged.
4. SHUNNING. This is my #1 issue with the Organization. We have all shunned people and thought it was normal. I cant believe I participated in such a thing, shunning my own friends because they made a mistake. Ignoring them for up to a year as they sat in the back row of the hall, embarrassed. The Jesus of the Bible would not support this, I am sure of it. The worst is when parents don't speak to their children or vice versa for decades, I used to know an elder who has never even met his grandchildren before. How do they justify this? I suppose it is just brainwashing at its finest. I am glad to be away from it.
This cult is definitely an extremist group. Any other twisted ways you can think of regarding the Org?
