Warning: Watchtower computer dept. registers accounts on Ex-JW sites, coerces people to divulge their personal details
by WTS Archive inwe had a bad experience with watchtower trying to infiltrate our forums.
let this story be a warning for all you guys here.
if you value your privacy do not ever send your real contact details to anyone, even if you trust them (because their accounts could be hacked or accessed by their relatives - and yes, this happened to people i know several times already).

Can an atheist date jw?
by concernCitizen inhey everyone!.
first of all, i'm not a jw, in fact i'm an atheist, or if you really want to be technical about it i'm probably something like an agnostic atheist or something.. but, my girlfriend is a jw, she seems very rational about it though, it seems to me that she believes in a lot of it but not exactly all, for instance she does understands and believes in the scientific age of the earth and evolution.. when we started dating almost a year ago she made it clear she as religious person.
i never saw that as a problem, it's not like i'm trying to convert her or she's trying to convert me.

DATA-DOG- I like your style ;-D
CONCERNCITIZEN-
You are in a situation for sure.. Firstly I think you have some great advice on this thread.. I would definitely take the ideas thoughts and statements of others into consideration. Now, you say you have been dating this girl for over a year? So she's been hiding you for a good amount of time.. I'm not sure what her standing in the congregation is, BUT she is very indoctrinated by this organization ( cult ) being that she hasn't cut ties with it since she is scared of her mothers disapproval or even the thought of being asked to leave home for dating a "worldly man", she's probably scared of being Disfellowshipped.. ( especially since you two have been intimate, it doesn't matter if there was no penetration, but heavily petting half naked is still grounds for trouble ) Its very difficult to explain the obvious lies, false prophecy and teachings to an active JW... I have been through a similar situation, except I was already fading out of the org when my mother turned me into the Elders for premarital sex... I'm officially out of the org.. I too was once brainwashed and very indoctrinated by this religion but it took MY own discovery, research, and long nights of reading to figure out that this religion is a big giant cult corporation.
If you are willing to go through this exhausting roller coaster then fine, but if it were me i would move on.. Its not worth it, her ties to this cult are probably too strong which is why she hasn't been fully honest with you.. It would be different if she has already been delving into research and slowly learning the real truth about this religion.. But as of now she still sounds heavily involved..
You sound like a nice guy, I'm sorry you've been put through this but relationships with an active involved JW are very hard to sustain..

Openly converting to another religion but not disfellowshipped
by R Franz Ferdinand III inodd.... friends of mine recently became members of an evangelical church.. up until they got baptised in this church, they still were visiting the jw meetings on a regular basis.they weren't really fading in the true sense of the word.. they came out of the closet about their new conviction quite publicly and even didn't shy away from getting in debate with the elders on biblical topics.. the elders are obviously very aware about their position and as they still were attending the meetings not so long ago, they clearly can be considered as people associated with the jw organisation.. as far as i know it seems they won't get disfellowshipped.
as long my friends don't harrass fellow witnesses with their 'renegade ideas' and 'false religion', elders seem to comply and leave things as they are.. this puzzles me as defecting to babylon the great always has been one the most worst offenses a jw could possibly commit.. could this be a case of local elders interpreting/applying things their own way or is there a (new) general policy trending ?.
anyone who knows about similar cases ?.

R FRANZ F. III-
The elders could be gathering information on them right now so they are laying low, making their rounds of eye witnesses to gather who have been in contact with this couple and have proof that they are apart of a new religion and/ preaching to the congregation.
I feel like there will be something to happen here, *sits back, grabs popcorn* $#!t is going to hit the fan just wait! -

Need advice
by Drwho ini'm a middle aged man.

DRWHO-
Your comment resonates with what I said to Crabby- It's going to be a very long and irritating process, you seem to be aware of this religion and what it does to people, complete mind control. The woman you're seeing could be coming to her senses but she is on the edge of in the org, and out of the org. Now, if you seriously see real potential here keep talking with her, if you're patient (unlike me) bring out points to ask her how she feels about certain teachings, acts ( ARC, unreported sex abuse against children never reported to authorities by JW's ) there are so many more things you could delve into.. Just really tread lightly, being in a relationship with a JW is very very risky, especially if she is keeping it secret.. Its honestly all up to YOU though what you see here.. She needs to make a choice, life with you, or life with the organization ( I mean cult )

CRABBY-
You have a point.. Honestly though I would be too exhausted to even deal with getting not 1, but 3 members out.. Unless she's already awake and is willing to accept her children shunning her if she becomes disfellowshipped for seeing this man.

Convicted Child Rapist Proselytizing. Is the Community Aware? Is the Community Safe?
by freemindfade inwow, this is awesome.
this really shows the jw passiveness towards child sex abusers.
there needs to be more of this exposing this!.

OrphanCrow- Thank you! Well, they must have assumed he repented and turned his life around after he met the JW's in his cell...
I remember when I used to pioneer I was invited to witness to the murderers and pedophiles in the jail to "help them" I guess they can get help but it sure isn't going to be from me..

** This man lives in my town/county!! ** ( I am pretty sure I can depict which congregation he attends.. This town isn't big at all )
I looked up the offense, it seems to have happened back in the 90's though - maybe he wasn't a JW back then when it happened? Or if so.. Don't you think he would have been forbidden to knock on doors being that a child would answer? Or he would just stick to phone witnessing?
I saw that was well the guy covers his hears so as not to hear the potential apostate lies that Satan's system is dispersing about his fellow brother.. Wow

Hidden message in JW bunker video?
by Dunedain inso, i was speaking with a relative recently, who is "in" the borg, but is completely aware of the terrible hypocrisy from the gb down.
he is not in the box, and its great to be able to have a realistic, and logical discussion about the current state of the org.. we started discussing, specifically, about that bunker video that was released in december.
how it is being played at all the conventions.
-
raven
I agree with you Dunedain, the org LOVES to instill fear into its members, it's a form of mind control! I remember the conventions used to talk about when Tribulation/Armageddon arrives, but they never gave you any more information- the next talk would be something about loving your neighbors. And I remember thinking, "AND???" I believe this is the first convention program to actually have a video depicting the moment when JW's are supposed to choose to follow mans orders or follow Jehovahs ( I mean Governing Body's' ) orders. Back down, comply with the government, or stick with us and potentially get killed, OH but you'll be resurrected so no worries. It's all brainwashing, instilling FEAR into everyone watching. Like you said, maybe it will help ex: the teenage kid who could care less to stop walking around the convention hall talking to his friends and checking out girls during the program to snap into shape. It's ridiculous and stupid.. I bet after the video was over, everyone was all quiet and head bobbing to agree, YES I CHOOSE JEHOVAH OVER MAN.
I believe this video depicts tribulation starting.. I bet you they will release a video depicting Armageddon with flying basket ball sized hail falling from the sky, fiery sulfur burning flesh as it falls, vultures eating dead bodies, and machine guns blasting people as they run around. All while the JW's huddle together holding hands smiling LOL!!

I've had enough..
by raven inso last night, after thinking "wow those pesky elders have finally left me alone, maybe since i skipped out on their jc invitation back on august 1st they've given up" wrong.. i go to check the mail and there's an envelope at my front door- lo and behold, another letter from from these elders.. why won't they leave me alone already?
i'll attach a picture of the letter.. again, same letter as the first one inviting me to a judicial committee on august 15th - and signed by all three elders.. should i just continue to ignore?
quite frankly i don't give a rats arse i've been enjoying life free from the mind control of the organization, and i just wish they would drop it and let me live life.. like i mentioned before, i am moving to a new home next week, the only reason these elders have my current address ( which happens to be over 100 miles away from the cong ) is because my mother gave it to them, after i gave it to her in confidence to forward me my mail.. so lets just say she won't be getting my new address... i don't have any contact with ones from this congregation (i'm an ex pioneer, so i'm sure if they've gotten word on what i'm doing, i must be satan himself!

JUSTFINE-
How did things work out after you moved? I think moving homes will definitely help with getting rid of their ability to contact me. I will definitely take your advice on going through the post office to pick up mail.. I would rather have it sent there than even risk the elders getting a hold of where I will be living. Were you able to get off of their radar by doing this?
