  It seems that anything they touch starts to need mayor "corrections" and "fixes" and ends up being a mess. M.E.P.S. resembles their doctrine and also the patch work resembles the Life of many witnesses. I just run through a few Facebook profiles of people I knew from back then (Bethel time) and man! they look old, fat and tired! Some profiles are huge advertisements for the Borg and some others are plain dumb and you can see that they don't have a Life.

  Sad. Sad people. Really.

  By the way, not undervaluing the worth of MEPS (I worked on a MEPS station to prepare the Kingdom Ministry edition for Central America), but it is a bit cumbersome and basically they didn't invent the wheel here, but copied all kinds of ideas and created their own system. Nowadays it is a patchwork of different fixes and "corrections" that it has become a nightmare to maintain. Any WT IT guy hates to do maintenance on M.E.P.S. They developed this "super advanced" system and at the same time had a love-hate relationship with technology, so they didn't follow proper software development procedures and didn't produce good manuals, debugging procedures, etc. So, it is a complete shit work to handle M.E.P.S. nowadays.

  This was the WT fashion of the 70's and 80's: do it yourself. Don't trust Satans orgs. They didn't invent can filling machines, but had also their own "brands" to produce food for the Bethel family.

  All grown out of sick minds of an utopian cult.

  M.E.P.S. was invented (or better said was the mind behind) by this German guy - Rainer Oehm - (brother in true & humble service to the GB). I met him a couple of times when we where working on the Admin2000 System. He is a Nerd and spends almost all of his time solving software problems and working on Gadgets. He spent months on a Bible device that could store the Bible and read in a strange electronic voice. He is an old uber-Nerd and would have done good money if he had worked for Microsoft or IBM. Instead he gets into the Watchtower and gets ripped off. All his inventions over the years belong to the Borg. He not only invented MEPS, but also other computer systems and a solution for the more modern printing machines.

  You can see him at the Beginning of the "Jehovah's Organization Video" (Guy wadding through the snow, saying in German: "Guten Morgen"). He has a furr hat and coat. Can't find a screenshot of that scene right now. If you know the Video and the beginning scene you know who.

  Very reserved, quiet guy. Almost doesn't speak a word. Just like a crazy inventor, dedicated to electronics and computers. Guy breathes computer stuff. The last time I've heard about him he wasn't all too pleased about some decisions taken about printing procedures that where taken against his recommendations.

  They grabbed it off Jehubers hands! First they dedicated the building to him - making an offering as the official branch dedication talk says - then they don't even ask him, take it from Jayhuber and then proceed to make cash from Jays buildings. Very nice. Very, very nice.

  Can they "undedicate" buildings? Reverse-preaching.

  Julia Orwell: They don't care about their people in poor countries. The day they closed the Branches in these countries was the day that the GB showed a big middle finger to these folks. Not that I care. Matter of fact, I rejoiced over the closing down of Branches - I remember the Branch dedication in Nicaragua: the buildings where given to J. and now they are being given to some Government organization or some Hotel owner. Will they make a special "Un-dedicate" assembly? How can they take them back off Jehubers hands and hand them out to a greedy worldly company?

  Many elders there could hardly WRITE a proper letter to the Service Department, that is why we had a special meeting room and someone on duty to receive them PERSONALLY, and give them instructions IN PERSON. Now, they where instructed to talk to the CO or write a letter to Mexico. Since the CO is in remote areas and cell phones hardly work there and the next postal office is miles away and works like a old mule with arthritis, I can see that the split and division of congregations and the creation of many "JW-sects" is ongoing as we speak.

  The GB LOVES to be in the lime light of importance. THAT is why they make changes, otherwise they would go unnoticed. One GB member that visited us in Nicaragua said: "If the main Bethel cook has a day off, everybody notices, if one of the GB is sick or has a day off nobody notices." Unjokingly he said that in a sad tone, don't know why, but it was creepy to hear (after morning worship was over and we where just a couple of guys hanging around).

  these guys are real company men when they have mass lay off of older bethelites tossing them to the curb and making the congregation they are assigned to carry some of the load, so that the watchtower corporation can cut costs of providing for these nolonger young people who have devoted theirs lives to the corporation.. they are heartless bastards aren't they?

  i wonder what kind of undercurrent this is causing at headquartes?.

  Actually the most apostate thinkers that I've meet during Bethel time where mostly old-timers. People that have the guts to question the higher ups (because they started off at the same time and don't see them with the same eyes as a 20 year old that just arrived from the country side and has not the courage to muster up to an "old wise brother". They are semi-gods to the young generation).

  The old-timers are the ones that look at them at eye-level and make the uncomfortable questions...

  Bethel facilities in Central America where for the rich, like gated communities:

  - Lush gardens

  - Mercedes cars (Nicaragua, Costa Rica)

  - Swimming Pools (Dominican Republic)

  - AC, Power generators, etc.

  For developing countries definitely luxurious Lifestyle.

  All in all: Bethel sucks arse.

  Good to see your jorney. Very good thoughts in what you wrote. What I liked the most is that they strip you off your being and WHO you are, not even using your first name. How true. Never thought about that before.

  I came this week to the realization that I have to switch my mind, not thinking of me as a Body with a Soul/Being/Higher Self/Quiet Observer but the other way around: We are a Soul using a Body (not meaning this in a religious/spiritual mumbo-jumbo way). Just that quiet observer in the background that is timeless, doesn't feel the pain - just IS. I don't know if you know what I mean, it's just a realization I had.
