What Name Does the New Testament Emphasize - Jehovah or Jesus?
by Vanderhoven7 init seems to me scripturally speaking, that jehovah's witnesses are emphasizing the wrong name.. it should be jesus, not jehovah.
who is the way, the truth and the life?
(john 14:6).

One of the old testament titles of god was "the hashem" which literally meant " the name ". Throughout the old testament you hear things like " we have established the name of god here " or " an angel with the name of god lead me ". It was a reference to the power or being of what god was or is. Not just uttering a magical word.
When Jesus says things in the new testament to the reference making the name of god known, it is more making reference to the power or being of what God is, not just providing first century Christians with the missing letters of the tetragrammaton.

The book of a Revelation has a pattern where the author would hear something " old testament imagery " and the would hear something completely different. Example- Hear The mighty Lion, see the bloody lamb. It is all based on the idea that Jesus defeated his enemies by dying for them. not fighting them.
The 144,000 is a reference to a military census from the book of Numbers.
He heard the calling of the 144,000, he saw the great crowd that no one could number.
The 144,000 is a symbol of the church, the redempted body of Christ.
The new covenant is not a limited arrangement.
More important is I could be wrong and I also don't care either. Eschatology is the playground of the cults and false religions anyway.

So basically
1. Lets ignore the fact tetragrammaton is more likely pronounced as yahweh not jehovah.
2. There are no copies of the new testament that contain the tetragrammaton.
3. The new testament ambiguously applies the tetragrammaton to both god and jesus from old testament quotes.
4. Lets not deal with the idea that the only scriptures first century Christians had was the old testament. There is no need to look at the ambiguous nature of yahweh in the old testament. Is there two or one, I don't get it. Boy, some of these terms being re-quoted in the new testament sure seem familiar.
5. Lets completely ignore the fact that the people who believe this stuff come from an environment where you will have your family taken away from you if you disagree with any of the theology.
Anyone smell anything ?

According to Jehovah's Witnesses, who will be saved?
by Vanderhoven7 ini know who won't be saved according to witnesses and that includes just about everyone alive at armageddon who is not a jehovah’s witness.
.
others who are permanently lost include adam and eve, those who died in the flood, people of sodom and gomorrah and apostates to their one true religion..

Do realize the term “ son of god” means the essence of god in the flesh. The term “ son of man “ means “ human one”.
The idea that god had a baby is kind of silly IMHO.

IN the Old Testament there seems to be two Yahweh’s . One visible and having contact with humans and one being invisible and all powerful.
The authors of the New Testament are calling Jesus things like “ the word of the lord “ or “ the glory of the lord”. These are all just terms making reference to the visiible Yahweh of the Old Testament. The reason LORD is quoted and applied both to Jesus and god is basically they thought of as different yet the same manifestation of the same being.

I believe the ambiguous use of the tetragrammaton in the new testament is by design, not corruption.
I watched a lecture series called " the two powers in heaven " that kind of lead me to that idea. Interesting stuff.

My wife says are pushing about half of the pre pandemic highs. I think a lot of people are using the " safety " as an excuse to not attend in person. I think more than a few have made a run for it over the last two years.
Don't worry, the rest are faithfully watching at home on zoom.
