Seriously for people who have as many social events as the JWs do, to declare someones celebration as wrong is pretty silly. Even the biblical reasoning behind it is filmy at best. I don't think really is any evidence that first century Christians did or didn't celebrate birthdays or had any problem with it.
this morning i decided to log into the local cong meeting on zoom, during the public talk the speaker likened the covid vx to jesus ransom sacrifice, saying that those who didn't avail of the vx, the 'anti vaxxers', are just like people who refuse to put faith in jesus.. i felt sick, knowing my unvxed but active jw parents were sitting there, i logged off immediately.
surely such talk is pure blasphemy or am i just over reacting?!.
i appreciate your thoughts, it will hopefully help me to approach my jw family with facts and logic, i'm praying they wake up fully and 'get out of her', i know they have reservations that's why they refused the vx..

The whole Jesus coming in the name of god is reference to Jesus revealing the power and character of what god is. The visible image of the invisible god. The hesham of the Old Testament.
Jesus didn’t come to give us the missing vowels or the Tetragrammaton.
JWs do not have this correct.

I think my turning point was learning the new testament is basically the story of god and jews and god and the church. The whole god of Israel to the god of everyone.
The whole " Other sheep " and " Little Flock " being the heavenly hopers and the earth hopers , 1914 and 1919, just became too bloody stupid for any real student of the bible. The WTS at its core is just voiding the new testament for anyone but the governing body.

I don’t think Muslims and Hindus like having people show up at there door and call them “ false religion “.
no more watchtower and awake mags every 2 weeks to place.
no private home book studies.
no more "essential" spiritual food meals 5x a week.
Our last meeting (which I wasn't there , had 15 people ). Ten years ago we had 160 publishers.
Mind you it was right after an assembly, people can only take so much.
Pretty soon there will not be enough money to even pay the power bill.
just a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.

The average age of the body of elders in our hall is well over 70 and they are just getting old to hound everyone. Plus, I think the younger ones realize it is kind of a dick move always being in everyone's business.
Plus there are people who just never go out and it is getting harder and harder to just ignore the fact some people are just treating it as " Church " now.
I am sure most halls are in the same situation.
