City Life
by Brummie ini moved from a pretty built up real busy brawling area into the more scenic village lifestyle...most people seem to settle into country life but i cant seem to make it home.
as beautiful as the scenery, seasides, mountains and hills are i miss the busy life, the hussle and bussel etc.
thing is my kids have basically grown up in the village and gone to school here (age 5&7, we have lived here 4 yrs), to take them back into city life would be a culture shock and now with their little perfect english accents they would probably be outsiders back in school in the city, especially brummie land where speaking duffy broken english means you fit in.

Hi Brummie, What I miss about city life: The constant noise, lack of vegetation, parking garages, six deadbolt locks per door, bars on the windows, not making eye contact, public transportation, parking fees, asphalt, asphalt and more asphalt, scurrying from air conditioned building to air conditioned building in the summer, the occasional gun shot, sirens, traveling at warp speeds of up to 5mph during rush hour, chemically treated water, eating my lunch on the roof, $5 chili dogs and $3 cups of coffee, and the fine air quality.-NOT
Nope, I once lived the good life as a caged animal along with multitudes of other caged animals and I about lost my mind. I guess it's about what your individual priorities are. Mine is my sanity and some peace and quiet. I can just hop in my SUV and have access to all the clubs, fine restaurants, sporting and cultural events, museums, hospitals etc. anywhere. I just don't care to live in the middle of it. I look around me and see that many of my fellow hampsters have joined me out here with their children in the land of the riding lawmower beyond the yellow brick road. We're not missing out on a thing.

Hi Cello,
It is indeed a sexual act for humans as well; I can't imagine the reason people try to deny it.
I don't see anyone trying to deny it. Sex is a motivator, but not always. Rape is a sexual behavior done primarily to satisfy nonsexual desires. Rob Hall, Rape in America
Psychologists who work with sex offenders see several kinds of offenders, including those for whom rape is a desire to dominate or control, those for whom it is an extension of anger, and those who seem to have been motivated by sex. Against Our Will-Susan Brown-Miller
Rape viewed as an evolved "form of male reproductive behavior-a natural act." talked about in the article you linked to, failed to include the rapist, be it man or mosquito who's m.o. is oral and anal sex, child rape etc. I fail to see where reproductive urges apply here.
I don't buy the male being too unattractive and undesirable as an excuse for forced sex.
Studies of convicted rapists, serial rapists, and sex killers have found the majority to be of average or above average intelligence, obtained the equivalent of a high school diploma or better, married at least once, and an income well above the poverty level.(6)
The majority of convicted sex offenders are young men who cut across all racial, economic, and social lines. While there is no one profile, they do have some things in common. Generally, they're assertive and aggressive and have problems controlling their anger and their impulses. They also have what psychologists call criminal thinking patterns and thinking errors. Brown-Miller

71% of the rapists were under the influence of drugs (inc. alcohol). 15% reported taking drugs less than 15 minutes prior to the rape. 21% premeditated the rape. 27% committed the rape while committing another crime. 16% were impulsive/spontaneous, "the victim was simply an easy available 'innocent bystander'". 7% were committed after an argument with the victim. 6% after sexual foreplay with the victim.
89% of the rapists described the victims as not being provocative, "The victims did not verbally provoke nor were sexually attractive to the attacker".
I have a lot of respect for you Cello, for sticking by your girlfriend. You're a good man. If you ever feel the need to discuss things relating to being involved with a survivor of sexual assault with others like yourself, I know of a few places for you to check out. Let me know.

Senior Sex
by patio34 ini thought the following from from our posthuman future by francis fukuyama was very interesting: .
"one writer states: 'one of the factors inhibiting sexuality with ageing is undoubtedly the brain-washing that all of us experience which says that the older person is less sexually attractive.
' would that sexuality were only a matter of brainwashing!

Geez, I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be the latest episode of Patio and the Coffee Dude.
...brain-washing...the older person is less sexually attractive
Not being a senior citizen for years down the road, I can only go by observation. Most seniors I know still bang each other like screen doors in a hurricane. Don't be brain-washed into thinking pleasure has an age limit. Don't buy into it. Go forth and be horny.

1.6 million Cool!!!
Great job you're doing up there, Hawk and friends!
The 1.6 figure probably doesn't include those who read the daily papers online-university students, library patrons etc. The figure could be much higher. Keep up the good work and thanks.

Expie,
I've finished e-mailing Matier and Ross, the Chronicle's muckrackers with some information and links to the 5th Estate and Dateline show's online videos. Hopefully they'll take a look-see. Their email is listed at the end of Matty's post [email protected] as well as their phone number (415) 777-8815 for anyone interested.

Assistant Public Defender Jack Funk, said he suspects the state simply didn't have a good case for keeping Verse looked up.
His religious beliefs are a major part of his support system...
An Associated Press investigation revealed that California had lost track of at least 33,000 sex offenders.-Kim Curtis, AP writer This was headline news last week in San Francisco.
The Honorable Judge John Minney is out of his funking mind, imo. Is the public to believe that Mr. Verse will be monitored as closely as the 33,000 unaccounted for? This is an outrage. Community safety comes first and no one should be released into community treatment until this problem is fixed-immediately if not sooner!! The predator friendly cult Verse belongs to will send him door to door. What in the hell are they thinking?? It's time for the people to revolt.

I usually read the child abuse, cover-ups, dub news, music, and personal experiences daily and skip the rest. There is a handful of posters I've followed for years and check to see if they've posted anything. I check out the newbies when I see them but don't have the time to do much socializing.
