Do material things rule your life?
by haujobbz ini think i have to say i am obsessed with material things,i love having the latest music, games,tv,etc.
allthough there seems nothing wrong with this i do seem to worry about my belongings a lot, for instance i have dreams about people trying to steal my belongings, also i have fitted numerous locks on my doors to protect my belongings, its not that im a geek i have a kid a lovely wife but i think im to possesive over my material belongings.. its funny it sounds like a awake article question.
i think i will have a tomb built when i die to take it all with me.

Material possesions are just more junk you have to pack when you move.

Life on other planets?
by freedom96 inas jw's, we were taught that there is no way that there is life anywhere but here on earth.. i personally never bought into that completely.
there are billions and billions of solar systems out there.
i do believe that absolutely there is life on other planets.

To paraphrase I quote I like, "Either there is life elsewhere in the Universe or we are all alone, either scenario is humbling"

Phobia or compulsory
by haujobbz in.
this may be a strange question but for the last few years now i have developed a habit of checking over things repeatedly and now its bugging me for example : when on my bike i keep looking back to see if i have dropped anything, also if i take a cd back i keep checking it to see if its the right disk, also i like my clothes folded in a certain way and it bugs me if there not .
so im wondering why i have developed this am i mad.

Sort of a mild obsessive compulsive? I used to do the same thing with the stove. I was compelled to go back into the kitchen 2-3 times before going to bed, to make sure I didn't leave the stove on. Eventually, I just said to myself 'this is ridiculous'. I would look at it, and assure myself it was really off, and refuse to go back into the kitchen. Eventually the compulsion went away.

WHAT IS DEJA VU??
by Mary in.
i think everyone has had an experience with deja vu; i know i have and it's really freaky when it happens.
i'll be standing there talking to someone and that feeling comes over me that i've done this before; i've had the exact same conversation with this person and i can even predict what they're going to say.. with someone i know, that's one thing; having this experience with someone i've never met before is really bizarre.. i've heard all kinds of theorys as to what deja vu is: a "delay" in the brain, reincarnation, someone in the future has changed the past and we sometimes 'repeat' things, it's all in your head, it's satan.......... i'd be interested to hear what sort of experiences you've had with deja vu and what you think it is........ .

It's a glitch in the Matrix. Something, for some reason, had to be reset in the programming of what you perceive to be reality.

Boundaries Part 2
by Victor_E ina boundary is a limit we set to give our life structure and form.
many victims never were taught or allowed to set normal healthy proper boundaries.
in my jw days it was appalling to see how elders and the whole authority machine constantly violated boundaries of rank and file jws.

Mary, we (humans) share a common ancestor with the various primates that are around today,as we do with every other living thing if you go back far enough. We did not descend from chimps, gorillas, etc.

Why does 'good' have to come out of it for it to be true? Isn't satisfying intellectual curiosity good? Personally, i'm not too fond of Nuclear Weapons, does that falsify atomic theory?
