  i ran into an older sister who has always been very sweet.. it was a friendly chat...yet she pushed for a reason why my family have been missing from meetings for some time.

  the question was deflected, until it just had to be said: "well, there have been some troubling and disturbing issues about the society especially the way things were handled during the royal commission, as well as many other issues".. she quickly cut in and said "but why would you want to know these things?

  its best not to research and look at those sort of things - so we don't get upset!".

  That's how my first conversation with my only friend still in the org went (I posted about it the other week). When I told her my concerns with the society and the ARC, she hadn't heard about it and told me "ignorance is bliss; don't do too much research or you'll get overwhelmed."

  I was so crushed when she told me that. however, it was nothing compared to the joy I felt when she told me that she had been researching the ARC and was getting upset at the society.

  This person may be very elderly, but you never know what seed you could've planted. Maybe she will run with what you said and say to many others "oh, they told me they aren't coming to meetings because of some silly royal commission thing!" Someone with a little more free thinking may wonder "hmmm...what is the royal commission and why is it keeping someone from the meetings?"

  You never know....

  Update on my current life

  i'm visiting this site after few years here and it's feels like coming home!

  just a recap on my past visits here ... i was a confused single jw mom with a 9 year old son in 2011. some friends here sent me soft copies of coc and few other ebooks which gave me the courage and strength to exit from wt society.

  best ever decision i made!

  **POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT**

  I was disappointed. Of course I was kept on the edge of my seat, that's a given. However, I've read the graphic novels. The whole season teased that the finale would be in correlation to the 100th comic.

  In the comic, Glenn is beat to death with Lucille. Now, it's not crazy for the show to stray from the comic (i.e. Maggie's father being beheaded by the governor instead of Tyrese). Darrel isn't even a character in the comic and Andrea is still alive. So who knows.

  I just personally felt that the finale contained too many separate story lines and the big drum roll ended uneventfully as they're choosing to not reveal who was beat by Negan.

  There is such a thing as too many cliff hangers.

  in my book, i wept by the rivers of babylon, i described the process of having a friend, johnny santa cruz, use our friendship as a platform for converting me to a jehovah's witness.. that friendship cost me decades of my life in bondage to a cult.. the friendship was real and johnny and i bonded for life.

  but, the religion eventually turned him into a stone silence.

  now he is dead and the imaginary reunion and meeting of the minds is no longer a possibility.. this makes his passing a double tragedy.. his memories were my memories.

  I can totally relate to all of this. I was the weird girl who was always pointed at for not saluting the flag. I was the loser who sat outside while they sang "happy birthday". My go to line was "it's against my religion." Sigh... All of the sad memories brought back so fresh and harsh.

  I would answer them but I don't know what I believe anymore and I do not want to be untrue to myself. I also can't talk about JWs anymore without sarcasm.

  Hi Art!! Thank you so much for posting and for sharing your story. Your English is beautiful. First and foremost, I will never call you any names for being "the other man". I am in no position to judge anyone and anyone who stoops so low as to call you names doesn't deserve a second thought.

  I can't totally relate to your situation but in their own way our situations are similar. My story didn't involve any marriages but my BF and I were both DFd. We thought about getting married and coming back together but then we learned TTATT and decided to get reinstated, get married if we still want to and then fade. That way we can have contact with our friends and family.

  I don't have much advice except the advice that's been given to me. If you want to get reinstated quickly...

  1) be at EVERY meeting 2) be well studied (publications highlighted and written on) 3) Sit where your elders will see you 4) if you can, let your elders know ahead of time if you're missing a meeting and have a good reason 5) Since you've been DFd before, maybe don't write your first letter til the 12 month mark, then make a request every 60-90 days.

  I'm not sure how helpful I was, im still going through the process myself- this was advice I've received from others on this site. Maybe they can tailor some advice for your exact situation.

  But please stick around. This is a great community and forum and you will continue to learn about the deception of the Watchtower and how to combat their mind control tactics.
