  Nate, I remember visiting Bethel (twice) and once we had a friend give us a tour where no one was usually allowed to go. We walked by all the offices of the GB. I remember walking by Losch's office just a few months after he was added. We even got to go into the conference room where the GB had their meetings. You would not believe how long this conference table was! They told us it was donated by some big corp., believe it was Citicorp.

  The point is it gave us bragging rights. That and of course we had lunch with the Bethel family! OH MY GOD! I look back and see how, even though I tried to keep a level head, still showed my JW self-righteous "look at me" colors! God, I just wanna smack myself for it now! :)

  I find it hilarious that he claims Jehovah is streamlining the org and yet they added on...what.....7 new corps. to confuses matters even more?!! :)

  Tolerance

  after observing a couple of the current threads on this board, i thought that i'd throw this.

  issue out there to see what people think.

  i'm really curious.. has it been your experience that people who were jehovah's witnesses in the past tend to carry.

  Essie, I read over the posts today and thought you handled yourself quite admirably. I totally concur with your thoughts of tolerance.

  The statement earlier made that an opinion should only be respected if it is based on fact blows me away (& I mean opinions that don't harm anyone). To me, an opinion means there are no facts to substantiate it. Thus you go by what you feel to be true.

  If you challenge me on fact, I'm thankful. I want to have my facts straight. But don't challenge me on opinion! You have no right to enforce your view on me! If I wanted to be around those kind of people, I would have remained a JW!

  I guess the problem arises when people have different views of what a true fact is. However it happens, there is no reason to insist that your view is the right way and should be subscribed to by everyone else. Why can't we just say, "That's intersting you feel that way. In my experience......" Why does it have to be "You're an idiot if you think that way. My way is better!"

  In the words of a famous Cali man "CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!"

  Jan, please don't condescend to me. That's not what I'm here for. I told you I was just relating what I saw. If I'm not allowed to do that or even put stuff out that's flip-flopping in my head without being told that I'm essentially an idiot, then perhaps I'll just keep my thoughts to myself.

  And...putting a smiley face at the end of your sentence really doesn't cut it. If you were indeed just teasing, then I apologize for coming back at you like this, but you might want to learn some tact, especially with people who don't know you.

  Hi Tina! My point about the miracles was that they really weren't miracles at all. There are other explanations, I noted just one. Of course, these were exagerated upon and shown to be a sign that Jesus was from God.

  Jan...sorry, but I recall Jesus being 33 1/2 years old when he died. I agree that 40 was probably too high. I was just providing a span. Now if you want to say that the Bible is completely inaccurate in saying that anyone including Jesus could have lived to 33 1/2 years old or beyond, no problem with me. I am quickly arriving at the thinking that the Bible is just full of myths & parables anyway. If the Bible is so wrong on this minor point, it's no big surprise...I consider it wrong on a whole hosts of things more important.

  Makes no difference to me. Just relating what I saw! SORRY!

  Let me be the first to say CONGRATS! I hope you guys are happy about the impending bundle of joy......and no sleep, stinky diapers, college tuition (now that you're not an active JW you gotta think about that kind of stuff).

  Truly, I'm so happy for you!!! But I'm a little pissed we can't go get drunk off our asses before I move.
