Who here likes U2?

i just went to a recent concert and they were really moving..they did an acoustic version of please, off of pop.

bono's voice was perfect.. i went to the philly november 2nd show.

I saw U2 in June of 1998 at the Oakland Coliseum during the Pop Mart Tour. AWESOME!!! Even though we had nose-bleed seats the concert was fantastic.

One thing I loved about going to a U2 concert was that to the right of us were 16 year olds and to the left of us were people in their 40's. But everyone was sharing a little kind bud! (Well, except for me...I was still a stuck-up JW) A true testament to a band we often forget has been around since 1980!

BTW, Oldhippie, have a great time w/ your daughters!!!

This is who really I am

i have had several people on this board request that i show the softer side of who i am as a person -- as well as share my feelings in regards to the divorce my husband and i are about to go through.

i have used the forum (past tense) as an outlet for stress.

i think i met my husband for a reason.

Moe, that was beautiful! I can see your tears. Or are they my own as I read it. When I left the Borg 3 years ago I also left my husband of 6 1/2 years. I was 24 and wanted to, for the first time in my life, live for me! Despite whatever pain I've endured, I am so happy to say that I have learned so much about myself that I would never have had the opportunity to have unless these steps were taken. You will learn a great deal about your own strengths and weaknesses. But in the end you will be such a better person for it. And he will too if he also opens himself up to this self discovery.

i am an active jw and was raised as one.

i have been watching the site for a while and thought it could benefit from the opinions of someone who is happily a member of the jw's.

i will not get into any argumets that lead to nothing except name calling, and will not talk with anyone who is just plain mean (plenty of them in here).

Hi SG and welcome!

Don't want to start a huge fight or anything...but you said you came to the board to speak out against things people said happened or are happening in congregations around the world because you believe them to be total lies and ridiculous.

May I ask how old you are, how long you've been a JW, do you hold any position in the congregation? Perhaps you are too young or are not a spiritual pillar in the cong. that would make you privy to such information. How do you know certain things are not true in other congreations around the world, or in the organization itself, or even within your own hall?

Could you also give more examples and the things you would like to refute?

Michael Jackson still a JW!

last night on one of the entertainment magazines shows they said that michael jackson just gave an interview to tv guide.

in it he says he is still a jw and still goes door to door in disguise.

i had heard a rumour recently that he still donated a lot of money to the society but had no clue he still claimed to be one.

What I previously thought to be true was exactly the info you brought out. That's why I was so surprised that he would still make claim to being a JW. Guess I gotta go get that TV Guide!

Anyone Remember The Chaperone Thing?

back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.

round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.

folks, i am talking about chaperoning!

When I got married over 9 years ago chaperoning was huge in my life. More so cuz my parents were ridiculous. Before we walked down the aisle, my ex & I spent a total of I think 3 times together alone. They were for the most important occasions, like when he proposed we went to dinner. But the kicker....since we would go to his parents house since they were much more leniant, my parents required me to call them when we left the house for the restaurant, call them when we got to the restaurant, call them when we left the restaurant, call them when we got home. They knew where we were coming from and going to so they knew exactly how long the time should be between calls. Neither of us had cell phones way back then so it was kinda hard to fake.

Granted I was only 17. Funny how my parents just weeks before I got married wouldn't let me alone with him, even when he visited our house my mom would stand by us when we said goodbye to each other.....yet in just a few weeks I would be completely on my own! How in the hell do they reconcile that!!! Just glad I answer to no one anymore. Boy, that would be hard with the life of debauchery I live now!
