True believer white USA dubs are fully conservative.
As far as vices go, repressed and judgmental tend to have lots of them. Dubs are perfect candidates , especially born ins.
where they stand is a strange mixture.
yes, they don't agree with abortion and homosexuality, they believe in the bible and wear skirts and ties to church .
but in many ways they're liberal.

when discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.
@SBF-I am going to disagree with your statement that WT has replaced publishing with nothing. They are now a broadcast and digital format business. They are still serving the same “food”, just on a different plate.
I think Sparrowdown nailed it: they are merely in the process of changing their business model and have opted for a long slow roll out of JW 2.0 optimized.
I can assume the long slow roll out of changes was done so as not to have an uprising among the older ones who have been faithfully plodding along and supporting WT all these years, “waiting on Jehovah” for the end they thought would come decades ago. No, the WT cannot piss off those oldies because if the over 70 crowd left there would be a mass exodus of multigenerational JW families and many others—and that would truly cause the end of JWs as a religion. Financially, though, I believe WT Corp and friends will be just fine—their money just wont come from JW zealots/believers.
JeffT—I believe you are absolutely correct. JW leaders are out of new ideas and much of the old content has become problematic. I don’t for one minute think less content will mean less control and manipulation by leaders. In fact, I would expect to see more BITE model tactics employed from headquarters and on the local level. While the flock has been distracted by new songs, new online features, JWTV, iPads, carts, etc., the WT has quickly and quietly stripped the local congregations and BOEs of any shred of autonomy. An observant minority may have noticed, but the majority of believers have been too dazzled by chasing the “chariot” to notice or care. That’s what to watch....(I believe)
does anybody have any word on the 2018 annual meeting?
i assume something new will be rolled out, since they are having all the congregations do special weekend streaming.. my guess is that there will be some major "new light" concerning the memorial, partaking, anointed, etc.
i would guess that they will say all baptized believers should partake.

I think the main obstacle to this change would be all the underage baptized people who would be illegally served alcohol at the Kingdom Hall.
Just my two cents...
Now discuss among yourselves...😃
i should know the answer to this but my memory is failing big time.
our friend just called who is still in the cult.
he's been away from it for about five months now.
He is not having a JC for marrying a non JW, he is having a JC for getting an annulment.
i was chatting with my very jw pioneer mother (aged 65) and out of the blue she tells me she is sore from a particular pose she did in yoga class.
"wait, what??
" i say in my mind.
Thanks Wakanda for the reply. That is what I thought.
My mom is strict in avoiding anything associated with "spiritism" or "false religion", so I was surprised that she is doing yoga now.

"Wait, what?? " I say in my mind. But I choose to keep quiet.
She looked at me like she was expecting me to react or say something. So I kept my best poker face and asked her about the sore area in her body (previous injury). Nothing more said about yoga. I didn't feel like getting into it with her, so I didn't question further or call her out.
So did I miss something? Is yoga acceptable for dubs now?
By way of a little back story, about 15 years ago my very same uber dub pioneer mother "readjusted" a friend and I for expressing interest taking yoga at a gym.
So I guess I'm wondering if my mom is just thinking for herself or if there has been a shift in policy.
when originally explaining the "new generations" splaine used the example of joseph and his brothers.. he backed up the time difference between the original anointed, and the new ones by using what he said was a big age difference between the youngest "joseph" and his oldest brothers.. then more recently in a jw broadcast - he said that there was not a big age difference between joseph and his oldest brother.. can any one help me find both those, please?.
Hi ttdtt-- I vaguely remember a morning worship talk by Ken Flodin after Splane's infamous overlapping timeline. After praising Splane's fine presentation, Flodin proceeds to carefully insinuate an adjustment in the timeline. If memory serves, he put the end before 2034...I don't have time to check right now.
Hope that helps...🤔
hey guys,.
i've been trying hard to locate a comment that was posted no longer than a few weeks ago (if that) by a poster providing a challenge for witnesses to find one scripture that states that we are still saved/have hope if we are outside of this "new covenant" that wt claims is for the 144,000 only.
the thread was to do with ways we can wake up a loved one and this particular poster (i can't remember who) gave a step-by-step guide to helping witnesses waking up using their own bible and doctrine.
Hi there--I remember the comment you are talking about. I believe it was a comment posted by "Perry"
in the june 2004 kingdom ministry, the self-appointed "faithful slave" published this spiritual exhortation as a q&a item - "the congregation book study—why we need it.
three years later, in 2007 - in the august kingdom ministry - the same "slave" issued this reminder - "how the congregation book study arrangement helps us.
but surprise, surprise - within a few short months the "slave" decided that jehovah had had a change of heart, and now decided that the book study in homes - with all of its alleged benefits - was superfluous: .
I heard the rumor about liability issues being at the root of discontinuing home book study groups, but I don't think that is the case. The reason I say this is because there are still WT assigned service group meetings in private homes.
I think there is a combo of reasons:
1)Lack of "qualified brothers" to conduct
2)Lack of homes offered with adequate space or parking
3)Control of atmosphere and information flow
In most bookstudy groups I attended, there was a relaxed and friendly feel, often with coffee or treats after or even a book study dinner. The flavor of the book study was usually set by the host family and sometimes the conductor. We sometimes had a conductor who loved to research and he would assigned different people to look up things (often from nonJW sources). Another conductor said book study should be about fellowship and he would keep the study to 30 min (sometimes even skipping paragraphs or combining a group of them) so we could chat and have treats and coffee together every week.I have Many more examples of personality driven/flavored bookstudy groups.
More and more the GB seems to be aiming for an extremely high level of uniformity (under the guise of unity and simplicity). So I would say the overriding reason home book study was cancelled was .....CONTROL!
