My mistake. I didn't realize you were a troll. I'll take that into consideration and be less respectful next time. -

Sounds like a tiresomely long-winded way of saying "God of the gaps."

Theory on the GB "new light" pushing back the final judgment.
by Jofi_Wofo ini know there are several threads already on this "new light", but i didn't see one that covered this particular angle.. since the gb seem to have an ulterior motive for everything they do, well beyond their publicly stated reasons, i began to wonder why they would be concerned with pushing back the closing of the window of jesus' judgement.
this is especially puzzling because the doctrine of the start of great tribulation being the final cutoff was one that the gb seemed to especially revel in for so long.
they could hang it over everyone's heads as a looming threat.

They could hang it over everyone's heads as a looming threat.'Believe us or die! If you wait for any real evidence it's already going to be too late!'
I have 2 theories.
1) Since it's still possible to repent after the great tribulation begins, there's nothing stopping the GB from declaring that the great tribulation has already begun, whenever they see fit. Likewise, there's nothing stopping the GB from declaring the time to change to a message of judgement. Otherwise, they couldn't make this change and still get new members. No one would join a religion that teaches it's already too late to be saved. Why even bother? This change in doctrine gives them even more power and flexibility to mobilize troops in their spiritual war.
2) At this point, Bethel must be bombarded with letters from even faithful JWs questioning how this could be "the final part of the final part of the last days" when somewhere around half, if not more, of all the world's population have never been preached to or even heard of Jehovah's Witnesses. It was a staple interpretation of JWs to take Jesus words that "this good news will be preached in all the inhabited earth" to mean that everyone would have heard the message before it was too late. This would be a contradiction- the end can't be all too close if that prophecy is no where near being fulfilled. But now, they can continue claim that the end is coming any time at all because there are no more prophesies that absolutely must be fulfilled before the great tribulation starts.

There may not be a true religion. Even if you think JWs are the closest to being "The Truth" of all religions, that doesn't mean that it's the true religion or that there even is a true religion.
But to get down to the heart of the matter- the Watchtower has never in its entire history come up with a single, original, doctrine or teaching that has later been verified as true by any form of external evidence. Over 150 years, every single JW prediction has failed to occur. Every pseudoscientific claim they have made has proven to be untrue. Every historically revisionist claim they have made has proven to be untrue. 95% of JW doctrines have been tossed aside by the religion itself as being untrue. The current crop of teachings are either unoriginal (ie, borrowed from other religions that supposedly don't have God's holy spirit, or copied and pasted from the very secular bible scholars that JWs otherwise dismiss as being blinded by Satan) or require an a priori, completely unearned, trust that the governing body has been appointed by God to reveal truth.
This is a religion that claims that faith is based on evidence but insists that every time the evidence conflicts with the faith, it is the faith that you must adhere to and not the evidence. This is a religion that, despite historically being wrong about everything, does not accept that there is any legitimate reason not to believe in it, and will use its billion dollar multinational media production operation to publicly slander you as a dangerous, deluded, hateful liar.

Unless I've been missing something, this is a pretty new phenomenon. That of the GB and others of high rank in the organization insisting that they will "never change" their "scriptural position" on a matter. As if there wasn't 150 years of the WTBTS constantly changing almost every single position it has ever taken. Even the disfellowshipping/shunning policy has been changed before.
They're becoming bolder and bolder, and I wonder how they will worm out of their previous statements that they will never change their position when the light inevitably gets brighter and they come up with an "updated understanding".

Reproof announcement wording.
by Jofi_Wofo inhey, all.
i had an old memory pop into my head today about an oddly worded announcement made by an elder at a meeting back when i was a bible study.
i couldn't find anything in the wol nor on google about it, so i wondered if this was just some rogue one-off, or if this is the way things used to be announced.

Hey, all. It's been a while!
I had an old memory pop into my head today about an oddly worded announcement made by an elder at a meeting back when I was a bible study. I couldn't find anything in the WOL nor on Google about it, so I wondered if this was just some rogue one-off, or if this is the way things used to be announced. This would have occurred circa the year 2000.
The elder was listing off several standard announcements, then invited another elder to come on stage to make just the one announcement. Without any introduction, without any context, the second elder just came to the microphone and said "Brother _____ has been counseled on the matter, and he has repented" then stepped off stage.
So, no explanation of what "the matter" was, but phrased as if we all knew what he was talking about (we didn't). It sounds like something that would follow up a reproof or a marking talk, but I've never known reproof announcements to be phrased like that and marking talks don't mention names, so this would be a meaningless way to follow up on it.
Does anyone else remember an announcement like this, or know of any previous policy, letter or manual that worded am announcement like this?

I'd want to hear Dr.Grande's take!
It's a longshot, but I think there's a chance he would actually do a video on Lloyd if a handful of people asked him to.

When I was 16, I tested at 160+. I've taken several other unofficial tests since then and I always max out whatever score it goes up to (140+, 130+, etc).
I can confirm that it doesn't bring you wealth or friends or, quite frankly, it doesn't automatically give you good grades nor does it make you the most talented student. There are people with solidly average IQs who are light-years better at my job than I am.
PRO - I'm a nerd who likes to learn a lot of stuff very quickly, and it's usually very easy for me to do so. So, I get more fulfillment out of my life because of it.
CON - Nobody on the internet ever believes me, and I'd sound like a narcissistic douchebag if I ever told anyone in real life.
