My then boss, an elder, pushed and pushed until I finally agreed to meet and have lunch with his son, a brother. I did so, reluctantly. About an hour into the "date", he suggested I would be far more attractive if I wore my skirts a little shorter. I (always a fast thinker with a fresh mouth) responded, "When you start looking like Paul Newman, I will take up the hems of my skirts." We did not date again. PS He was nowhere close to Paul Newman...more like Alfred E....hahahha

Bad JW Dating Experiences

here are two of my personal examples:.
i dated a guy for about a month who's mother (in her late 30s by the way) was supposedly of the "anointed".

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #8

not too strenuous i hope.
but just in case you're at a 'loose end', here's something to give you a little 'light relief'.

I didn't question Jehovah's instrument for feeding the flock. I did what I was asked. It's called brainwashing.

My husband has been telling me for some time now that you can't put God in a box. JWs so completely limited him by definition, that I have a difficult time imagining a God whose "Face" and personality doesn't in most ways reflect what the JWs made me see. As far as the peace Christainity brings to hearts, it is an avenue. Many Buddhists, and Zen practitioners would say they achieve peace through their respective belief systems. Spirituality, like all other elements of human reasoning,is a product of biological processes in the brain. That doesn't make it any less real; just puts it in perspective. HbH

Beck: Ditto, except no spin and no sister. I am at a spiritual loss, and I know i will never be able to buy into a belief system again. At this juncture, I feel the most spiritual expression for me is to be kind and tolerant. simple, but it's the best i can do.

If memory serves, the Aid bk, and it's sequel both define a lie as "an untruth told to ones who are not deserving of the truth." I have no access to those books just now, so if someone can look it up and either verify or correct me, I would appreciate it. The supreme law, to which Christians are bound, is to love god, and then neighbor. I think the decisions made to protect children are an expression of love, both for god and neighbor. Don't you?

Pffftt..I cleaned so many toilets as a JW, I am proud to say, I have given up cleaning, for the most part. Don't get me wrong, the toilet DOES get cleaned, and the vacuuming gets done, but I sure do NOT do it on the weekend. In fact, my husbnad does most of it. I do relate cleaning to my career as a JW. I doubt I will ever see it as a procuctive way of life, just one of those necessary evils. Hahaha. HbH
