  UK: Time to punish the Covid 19 PROFITEERS!

  laws have been very quickly created in order to oppress & suppress uk citizens' basic freedoms and rights, while profiteering - thanks to the mantra of "supply & demand" - is allowed to flourish with nothing being done by the government to penalise companies who are more than likely reducing production of ppe in order to inflate their prices.

  (oil companies have done likewise for years) .

  "apart from actually finding the equipment, there are other problems.

  Are they sending bethelites home because of the lack of work to do? Even in this situation? What if they have no home to go back to?
  

  There will likely be a big head count cut once they know they can safely send people packing. Without the public preaching, printing magazines is now a pointless exercise. Corvid19 has highlighted a lot of issues with the business model of a lot of organizations. For the JW, this will likely accelerate things and major changes might be in the works.

  They seem to be preparing for major reduction/sell off of KH in the UK based on the current charity merger initiative.

  Technically, the glass is always completely full ... just not of liquid. But I don't know what you mean by this, the point is to make things better.
  

  What I meant by the "glass being hall full and half empty" is, people are looking at the same situation from a different angle.

  Initially you said this

  and then in your response you said

  "Then you have a complaint with the media, because what I see it's predominantly black people."

  There is a little difference there "predominantly"

  What is the solution to the current crisis? How can you make things better?
  

  Should there be an independent open investigation after every death involving the police and should the idea of "Qualified Immunity" be removed from the police?
  

  Will that ease the perception of police brutality?

  More people should be rational and less emotional, especially black people - it would benefit them far more than protesting, rioting and looting.
  

  What benefit do you believe they will gain by not protesting?

  (I am not talking about the rioting and looting as that is obvious)

  Without a profit motive, you wouldn't have a lot of things - it ensures supply. This principle applies to things like bottled water in a hurricane scenario - someone has to keep stock and without any profit motive, why would they?
  

  This is correct. I believe the Canadians did the same when there was over production of their Maple Syrup that almost ruined the whole industry. They had to control the production and price to make sure the business model is sustainable. That pissed off some people though

  Even the JW had to cut cost, magazine reduction and massive lay offs in order to stay in business.

  i still like the commentary on the jw.org monthly’s, i can skip through some parts.

  but it seems like he is pushing too hard to put out videos and the quality is getting very low on the content..

  He's a grifter, wants other people to pay him a salary for his 'activism', so he has to put out regular content to justify it whether there's really anything to say or not.
  

  I see adds on this website. A brother has got to eat I suppose. Activism cost money.

  The moment Lloyd Evans monetized his activism was the moment he lost credibility.
  

  If some people benefit from his channel I don't see anything wrong with him making some change from it.

  I hate his nasty accent.
  

  Jealousy, at least he is doing something no matter his motivation !

  The leaders of these people only care about cases they can use for political ends, that means a black corpse and white cop, regardless of situation and circumstances.
  

  @Simon - That is very true. If you take a closer look at all communities, you will find similarities of people taking advantage of a situation to further their own agenda.

  All you see of black people when BLM are involved are criminal thugs, looters and gangs of blacks beating individual white people (sometimes to death).
  

  That is a bit of an exaggeration. In the current situation, I see people of all races losing their minds and looting under the banner of BLM.

  The claims that black people are disproportionately impacted when the system isn't perfect? Totally unsupported by statistics.
  

  This statement is correct but it totally misses the point. It is not about statistics but about perception. The video footage of how the guy was killed made for uncomfortable viewing and it changes people's perception of reality. You are making a rational statement to an emotional situation.

  Remember the expression " De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est translates to "Of the dead nothing but good is to be said" or don't speak ill of the dead.

  There is the social taboo of speaking ill of the dead especially when it is so soon. Most people are aware of George Floyd not being a saint.

  Apparently mother Theresa was no saint but when she died, that wasn't the time to throw statistics on believers. The time for that came later.

  @Blues Broters put it nicely

  Only a naive person would believe wholeheartedly all the eulogies about him, but it is wrong to blacken his name with insults. What would it matter anyway? If he was the worst person on earth, does that justify police brutality and homicide?

  If the BLM protest brings about better policing in the US, I guess everyone stands to gain and not just members of the BLM.

  Similar to how the JW fought for their right to worship in the 20th century and it actually benefited other religious groups

  I see your point. Maybe the problem is that when that statement is made, "All Lives Matter" it is often in answer to BLM which might be construed as trying to negate their movement.

  Quetzal - White people feel no desire to defend white criminals, neither do Asians or other communities.

  Generalisation is the problem with this statement. There are many examples that show the contrary.
