Moster, you totally nailed it! AND it was totally official, pre-1975, that the world was ending soon!

Murmurs from the locals
by Moster ini was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.
one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".
i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".

Rub A Dub, I hear you! It can take all day just managing the TV for my Mom.
The Alexa/Echo will have to learn their voices, so there's a bit of a learning period, but my Mom can start her music every day, and ask for news, weather, etc., without my help. You can also control it indirectly via the app. This helps when you need to turn the volume down, etc. Lots of music to listen to (Amazon music or Pandora) which is a big help too. You can also do video calls with others who have one.
For the JW stuff, you'll need to enable it (maybe via the app, not sure). It will read the Bible to them too.

@RubaDub, they are worth the money because once the elderly person learns to talk to it, Alexa/Echo will read all that stuff...... so you don't have to. And they can listen to news, their own music, all sorts of stuff, and can get it started on their own.
These devices save me lots of time and aggravation at home.
Meanwhile, I use mine to listen to music (and drown out the sound of the JW stuff being played downstairs).
A win for me, in any case!

What can a therapist really do?
by Thetruthhurts inhi all, i've not read the forums for awhile as i've been trying to move on with my life but i'm back and posting for the first time feeling like i cant get a grip.
so i'm wondering for those of you that have seen a therapist and say that it truly helps, what can be accomplished?
i'm just really skeptical, but starting to feel desperate.

I've been working with a person who does "psych-K'. It's a bit woo-woo (if you haven't explored mindfulness training) BUT the best part is they work on beliefs you've got stored in your subconscious that sabotage you every day. Very effective when you're trying to detox from the bOrg. If you google it you can find books, articles, and someone who can help you. It's not cheap but you're not going for months before you get results.

November 2019 Watchtower (Would love to hear the comments in the hall)
by pleaseresearch infrom the november 2019 watchtower study edition.. how many of you would like to know what the brothers and sisters would respond to this question.
also, if you went into a hall how would you like to respond to the question.. 8. how should we respond to lies?.
8 satan, “the father of the lie,” uses those under his control to spread lies about jehovah and about our brothers and sisters.

I know several JWs who know someone who was abused by a JW relative (in these cases, also their relatives).
Are they saying all the victims are apostates, too?

If anyone ever makes the claim that they don't focus on Money ALL the time...
by HiddenPimo ini saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.
we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

So, apparently, according to the bOrg, the GB, Jesus, and Jehovah are all up for taking a bribe.

I agree, I don't think back in the day they ever considered they'd be caught out on anything, much less child sexual abuse. And if they join the scheme, what will the publishers say? You'd have to be totally clueless not to understand that these events did happen and the bOrg is having to deal with the fact they did nothing at the time - wait, it's worse - they went into full denial mode. Plus, they really could care less about the victims. Publishing magazine articles proves nothing.
"Oh, what a tangled web we weave......"

JW.Org data
by snare&racket into think they have hung the blue and white sign on every building they own in the world and that this was a publicity campaign with the presumed backing of the god of the universe....... it's not going well.. despite the 8.5 million followers, who through design have to visit the site......it isn't even in the top ten..... top fifty..... top one hundred ......top two hundred visited sites globally.. users on average click through 7 pages per visit and don't stay long, averaging about a minute a page.. as for the data on its search over time 'jw.org' is now googled globally at a rate less than 25% of its peak and is usually associated for a search for the daily text.. .
between this and the carts, the only message getting through to real people is 'child abuse' and that woman from king of queens taking an interest!.
i sincerely think we are seeing evidence of what has been anecdotal decline...... waited long enough for it!.

iwantoutnow:
Its a JW delusion like so many others.
I had a JW friend who is 1/2 in 1/2 out and still will talk to me tell me once "that JW.org is the envy of the world" (fyi he is a programmer and should know better), I had to take him to task on it and ask him what evidence does he have to say that, and what about the site is any better than a nice blog.
Of course there was none and he recanted.
THAT sounds exactly what some of the JWs say here because that's the propaganda they've been fed. When I hear that sort of talk I just arch my eyebrow and say nothing. What's disturbing is that I can see not all of them are fooled but they still choose to repeat the nonsense.
