Hi nowwhat, I thought the same thing! I do remember. I don't even think they remember what they've told the R&F and when.

remember back in the 90's they didn't want the elders to have a publisher list on their computer for fear the govt.

Probably the PIMI people in the org care more about who gets what scandalous details than those of us who are out. An old JW friend of mine is really upset about what she imagines was written about her and her family when they moved congregations. Because she can't see the letters and she thinks the elders in the new congregation are looking at them "funny" (paranoid much?) she's all in a twist about it. And perhaps rightly so, who knows?
If you're out, you really don't care, unless I suppose you were actually accused of something really serious (and real).

My Belief in Prayer
by compound complex inmy belief in prayer was once bolstered by my strong attachment to what i had read in aid to bible understanding.
my having a part in its initial prep in the factory and, later, a detailed proofing of thousands of references to it made this bible dictionary an influence in my former life.
please note this extract on jehovah's seeming delay in the answering of prayer.

Just goes to show that the JW god is a cold fish, indeed. Probably, maybe, sometime, if he feels like it, he might act. Otherwise, you humans just try waiting a few centuries longer for help.

Motives Matter
by AllTimeJeff inthere is a difference between the leadership of the borg (gb 2.5, is that what they're on now?
) and the sheeples, that for a variety of reasons, stick with this nonsense.. not every jw publisher believes this stuff.
the gb knows this.

AllTimeJeff: Interesting turn on the discussion. The Sheeples are a special lot. As an old saying goes, “If you don’t have anything planned for your life, you’ll likely fall into the plans of someone else. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much!”
You know the sad thing is, at this point, I see that some of my JW friends (I'm in my 50s) just don't have the guts to tell their relatives (as in righteous elderly parents) they don't want to be a JW anymore.
Sad, but how wonderful is THAT for the GB. Followers (and contributors) who don't have the courage to quit, and keep on giving!

"I am so excited to hear the Sunday morning talks at this summer's convention"
by Sour Grapes ini have a super uber jdub relative who lives several states away.
he is always trying to encourage me since he knows that i stopped going to the kingdom haul.
anyhow, he sends me a copy of the program for the summer regional convention and pointed out the sunday morning talks.

That's brilliant and evil, Sour Grapes!
If he wants to "eagerly anticipate" listening to that drivel, well there's no fixing that. But you might have just taken a little of the shine off that anticipation.

GDPR: Get your data from the UK Branch now, before 25-May-2018
by Fay Dehr inget your data from the uk branch now, before gdpr kicks in on 25-may-2018.
use this free template letter, which has been tried and tested.
under uk law they can (and will) delay their reply if you miss out any of the important points in the template letter - for example they are allowed to ask for "costs" from you (£10 is an established fee in the data industry), or if you fail to prove your identity by means of passport or driver's license.

Watching the news on the GDPR with interest from the US. Great letter!
Question, does the org keep publisher records using any sort of ID number (such as a social security number like we have in the US). If so, can a person find out what their ID number is, or under what name(s) the org has their records stored? There could be records under more than one name, and the org (or any other organization for that matter) could have bits of data on one person scattered across differently named files (I'm thinking).

Feeling pressure to attend the Memorial?
by Fay Dehr infeeling pressure to attend the memorial?.
as a former elder i write this response to hopefully help those genuinely feeling “guilt” before their god.
if you are a jehovah’s witness or an “ex-jw” (for example, disfellowshipped or lapsed), then i hope that this will be of help to you.

Hi Fay Dehr, THANK YOU! I have been dreading what to do, because of my Mom. She took a fall a couple of weeks ago, is in a wheel chair presently and her dementia is worse. She doesn't even know what day it is. If anyone says anything, now I know what to say. (I could care less about going myself.) What a weight off my mind!

Talking to the people under the steeple
by Giordano ini haven't found religion viable after we left the jws some fifty years ago.. oddly enough i will be conducting a session at the oxford forum which is put on once a week on a sunday by the presbyterian church.
they invite scholars, professors, artists etc.
people of interest to expose their congregation to what else is going on in this community.

That sounds like a great opportunity to talk to people who normally wouldn't understand what an ex-JW goes through. Please let us know how it goes.

After leaving the JWs - Has anyone stayed with Christianity?
by rulehayl ini recently made the decision to stop studying with my study conductor, due to a situation i found myself in that led to a high possibility of my unbaptized publisher "rights" being taken away from me.
i have since told my study conductor i have joined a new church (to which she dropped me like a hot rock, of course).... last time i posted on here, i was progressing nicely towards baptism, and was well into it.anyhoo, i like my new church, very hillsong-esqe.
so just wondering if anyone else has stayed the course of christianity after leaving the jws, and if so - where did you go?

I would classify myself as SBNR (or, as I like to think, Ethical AND Not Religious).
Being raised a JW cured me of all religion. I agree that "Religion is a Snare and a Racket".
Happy athiest here.
